With Election Day looming, Jeff dives into the political desperation driving the Democrats' strategy—and why, for the first time, he's decided to vote for Trump. As smear campaigns and absurd accusations pile up, Jeff examines the stark reality of what's at stake and contrasts the Democrats' fearmongering with the mess they've actually created: open borders, sky-high consumer prices, and the normalization of anti-Semitic hate crimes. If the stakes weren't so high, he might sit this one out, but at this point, voting has become a defense mechanism for what remains of the country's sanity.Shifting gears, Jeff discusses how ineffective assistance of counsel claims made by imprisoned clients shouldn't ruffle a defense lawyer's feathers — the clients are in jail after all. Using his own experience with high-profile clients, including El Chapo, he sheds light on the personal, ethical, and sometimes laughable aspects of these claims—and the mess the press often makes when covering them. Finally, Jeff pays a long-overdue tribute to the band Social Distortion, a band that's resonated with him for decades. More than just rockabilly punk, the band's music speaks to struggle, redemption, and raw honesty. From “When the Angels Sing” to “I Was Wrong,” Jeff shares why these tracks mean so much to him, urging listeners to give the band a chance beyond his podcast snippets.

It is February, and it is Black History Month! Today we're sharing music we love by black artists of the 20th century. Hello, by Ella Jenkins Hello hello hello and how are you I'm fine I'm fine and I hope that you are too Sing this song with any variation you can think of, soft, loud, humming, whistling, la la la-ing! Ella Jenkins has been dubbed the “The First Lady of the Children's Folk Song.” Here is a playlist of some of our favorites, but be sure to check her out with your kids, we think you'll love her music as much as we do. To watch a mini class where Ms. Elizabeth and her 5 kids share 3 Ella Jenkins songs click here: https://www.clapforclassics.com/blog/ellajenkins This Little Light of Mine This little light of mine (tap knees), I'm gonna let it shine, (arms: up down up down) This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. (dance in a circle) This iconic American gospel song has been energizing and uniting diverse groups of people for nearly a century. It's impossible to sing this song without moving your body and feeling a spark of excitement and purpose. It is a great song to sing with kids because the words are so repetitive, and the message is so positive! We've added some simple actions to each verse, and suggested a flashlight activity for the second time through -- kids and flashlights always seem to be drawn to each other, right? Father God in the name of your son Jesus, we give you honor and praise first and foremost for waking us up this morning, for granting us another day, not because we are so deserving, but because you are so merciful.Lord today all around the globe people are celebrating and honoring mothers. Lord, we come before your throne, today to say thank you. Lord, we thank you not just for the mothers who bore a child from their womb, we thank you and also give honor to those who have exalted the spirit of mothering.Lord, we thank you for …. and honor grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, aunties, godmothers, and those who may not have been natural mothers, but who YOU by YOUR divine design put in place to sacrifice the time, energy and effort to mother and nurture us. And to every mother, and everyone with a mothering spirit, we honor you today for the sacrifices you have made, for the late nights you have spent rocking and calming a sick child. Thank you for the times you remained committed to your call and never stopped cooking, teaching, washing, wiping, scrubbing, mixing, stirring, hugging, patting, disciplining, holding, writing, erasing, painting, and pouring. We thank you for finding patience when it seemed your patience had run out.Lord, we thank you and honor our mothers for their wisdom, for without their wisdom many of us would not know you .Lord, We thank you and honor our mothers for their words, words that will forever resonate in our minds and hearts, And yes Lord we thank you and honor our mothers for their even for their discipline. for without their discipline many of us would not have made this far.Lord God as we exalt gratitude for our mothers, we bow to your throne in recognition that your son Jesus, became human through a woman, through the mother of all mothers. Lord it is our prayer that all mothers and every mothering spirit stand with the same courage Mary did, trusting in you when faced with the uncertainty the life of every child brings. Let every mother, oh God …. find joy and delight in their children, as they remain diligently committed to their godly assignment through the trials of motherhoodLord God in the name of your son we ask that you strengthen mothers, guide them, direct them, hold their hand, speak to their hearts, let each one draw closer to you, let each one lean on you for understanding, let each one embrace your word as their standard as they shape, mold, and teach our next generation of leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs educators, politicians, parents, elders, missionaries, and pastors.Lord, give each mother a worshipful reverence of you, the Creator and Sustainer of life. Help each mother to rest in the knowledge that they are but stewards of your children and that only your Spirit can produce change in the hearts and minds of each boy and girl. May each mother find rest in you.As we honor mothers today, we give God the glory, and we give God our praise. Amen Amen and Amen.

In this episode we each chose 4 songs that remind us of Mother's Day. We explore each song, talk about our own mothers, and tell some stories that maybe in hindsight, we should've kept to ourselves. We want to thank all the moms, stepmoms, mom-in-laws, grandmothers, great grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, and fathers(in some cases) that sacrifice theirselves for the role of “mom”. Y'all are truly God-sent and we are forever grateful for his gift. Much love and thanks for listening! As always, like, follow, tell a friend, and share! The Long Goodbye - is a musical tribute based on Brets Dads ' Alzheimer's journey. The long goodbye, it's something that all of us have dealt with. Some of you are probably still working your way through this goodbye. Today's guest is Bret Sweet. He's a musician turned caregiver who used writing music to help him through his grieving process even as his father was still alive. Bret decided to use a hip-hop album to help caregivers draw energy from and gain a sense of connection with other caregivers. His Dad was all about breaking down doors, standing up to bullies, and Bret's album helps continue that story. Bret also wanted to add a little hope for those of us listening.
