As we are going to read, this angel Gabriel is sent once again from God to bring a message to a young woman who was a virgin in a city named Nazareth of Galilee. We are in Luke chapter 1:26. Just like Zachariah, Mary too was troubled by the presence of the angel. But Gabriel quieted her fear with comforting words of grace. He would tell her about the son she would bear. He gave her his Name, His Position, His Power, and the means of His birth. As we learn, the Name Jesus means Jehovah saves. His name derives from the Hebrew word Jehosua, or Joshua which means the same thing, the great I AM, YaWeH saves.Let's join Dr. Mitchell in Luke 1:26 on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast as he shares the good news of Jesus Christ.

We are in the gospel of Luke chapter 1 verses 14 through 25.You will note that the angel Gabriel does most of the speaking in this passage as he spoke to Zachariah the priest in the temple. Dr. Mitchell will look at the prophecy from the the angel Gabriel concerning the son who would be born to Zachariah and his wife Elizabeth. There are several things said about this boy whose name would be John. Dr. Mitchell goes on to look at the results of the forthcoming ministry of this man John the Baptist as told by the angel. Do you ever pray to the Lord and when He answers you have doubts about it? Zachariah did. He wondered how this birth could be given their age. Let's find out with Dr. Mitchell in Luke 1:14-25 on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast.

March 25, 2026Today's Reading: Luke 1:26-38Daily Lectionary: Exodus 4:1-18; Mark 15:1-15“And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.” (Luke 1:31)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.Merry Christmas! We are just a few days away from Palm Sunday and Holy Week. We are concluding the 40 days of Lent, and we hear those words that are far from our thoughts and lips. Merry Christmas! It is a strange greeting indeed to hear or read. It is, of course, March 25th. We are 9 months out from the celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. The words of the Christmas greeting do not roll off our tongue and lips with the same excitement as they will in 9 months. We have hesitation in those words as they are reminders of a season of joy. The end of the season of Lent tends not to be a joy-filled time. We are almost to the cross. Our reflection and meditation on our need for a savior began back at Ash Wednesday when the ashes of last year's palm branches were placed on our heads. Now, on this day, we pause to reflect on the Annunciation of our Lord. The visitation of the Angel Gabriel with Mary, the mother of our Lord. The visitation remembered during Lent is a stark reminder of why Jesus was conceived. The incarnation of our Lord is a profound teaching regarding God the Son becoming flesh. The incarnation is important enough that it is included in all of our creeds that we confess. In the Second Article, we confess, “He was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” Incarnation theology is one of the core components of our salvation. At that very moment, conception, He became man. He became human. The Son of Man and the Son of God now dwells in the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary. The Holy, Holy, Holy God is human. In His humanity, the perfect sacrifice comes into the world. True man and True God. It will be the sacrifice of human flesh for the redemption of human flesh. No other human could fulfill what was necessary for our salvation. Our deadness, our separation from God in sin, could only be restored through the incarnate Word, Jesus Christ (John 1:14). Incarnation language is foreign to the secular world this time of year. We as confessing Lutherans boldly speak of the incarnation, because in the incarnation is the final sacrifice for our sins.In the Name + of Jesus. Amen.O Lord, as we have known the incarnation of Your Son, Jesus Christ, by the message of the angel to the virgin Mary, so by the message of His cross and passion bring us to the glory of His resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. (Collect for the Annunciation of our Lord)

Delivered by Thia Santos from Church of Divine Merch Shah Alam in the Archdiocese of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Isaiah 7: 10-14; 8: 10; Rs psalm 40: 7-8a.8b-9.10.11; Hebrews 10: 4-10; Luke 1: 26-38.THE GREATEST NEWS The title for our meditation today is: The GreatestNews. We are aware of, well informed, and following the current global newsabout the war between Iran and the United States and Israel. This news isperhaps the biggest news of the moment. This war has a global impact, particularly due to the high price of fuel, given that Iran is the world'slargest oil producer and it may reduce the distribution of its oil.Furthermore, major national news stories have captured our attention, such asthe floods that have hit several regions in Indonesia, resulting in propertydamage and loss of life. In spiritual and faith aspects, the biggest news forus is the Anunciation of the Lord, or the good news about the coming of ourLord, delivered by the messenger of heaven, Angel Gabriel, to a virgin ofNazareth in Galilee, named Mary. This news is called the biggest news becauseit has several important reasons: 1) Gabriel is one of the greatest angels whowas sent by God to deliver the news; 2) the news put an end to all forms ofpromises God had made with humans since the time of Abraham; 3) the content ofthe news is about the Son of God who became a man in Jesus Christ; and 4) thenews marks a major theme in the history of salvation called the incarnation. In the book of the prophet Isaiah, the greatest newshas been anticipated with a promise that illustrates so precisely about avirgin who would give birth to the One sent by God, the only Son of theheavenly Father. The one born will be given the name Emmanuel, which means Godis with us. This promise came true with the event of the Virgin Mary whoreceived the word from heaven through the Angel Gabriel. Mary's response to thegreatest news: “I am the handmaid of the Lord, it will be done to me accordingto Your will”, is the biggest response, which became the standard for the responseof faith of all followers of Christ. All of us as children of Our Lady makethis faith response our commitment to do God's will throughout our lives. Our joyful celebration today makes us believe that thebiggest news in our daily lives is about the coming or the presence and thetruth. News that is shared among us through oral, written, and online waysabout the coming, or the presence, and the welcome of ourselves or ourneighbors, must occupy our attention and interests over those news aboutnon-existence, absence, and rejection. News about the truth that containsgoodness, justice, peace, joy, and salvation must be produced and spread more andmore than those news about lies, violence, loss, hostility, war, and terrorism. The biggest news for us is about goodness and truth, not the vice versa. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Our great and most loving God, fill us withjoyous news about Your truth. May Your Spirit help us to fight all false and badnews that spread around us. Hail Mary, full of grace ... In the name of theFather ...

What if the “New Earth” isn't something that arrives through a single cosmic event, solar flash, or future timeline—but something humanity is slowly remembering? In this profound interview, Archangel Gabriel joins Emilio Ortiz to dismantle the idea of an external New Earth event and reframes it as an inner and collective act of remembrance. Rather than waiting for a dramatic moment in time, he explains how the New Earth emerges through memory, consciousness, and embodied awareness—already seeded within us. This episode explores why so many spiritual narratives have been misunderstood, how humanity has been looking in the wrong direction, and what it truly means to awaken to a reality that has never been lost, only forgotten.✦ Learn more about The Deep Dive Membership | https://iamemilioortiz.com/the-deep-d...Archangel Gabriel is a spiritual teacher and messenger known for transmitting insights around remembrance, consciousness, and the restoration of humanity's original blueprint. In this episode of The Leader's Notebook (Ep. 293) from our seven-part series, The Magnificent Seven, I walk through the astonishing life and ministry of John the Baptist. He stands as the last Old Testament prophet and the first man to publicly identify Jesus as Messiah. His voice rises out of four centuries of prophetic silence, set against the political brutality of Rome and the corruption of Herod. John does not emerge as a stylist or strategist, but as a singular, God-anointed voice preparing the way. He calls a nation to repentance and redefines the Messianic mission as sacrificial redemption. Standing in the Jordan, he declares Jesus to be the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world and the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire. His courage, clarity, and refusal to measure success by comfort or applause confront our modern assumptions about leadership and faithfulness. John's life reminds us that true success is obedience to God's call, even when it costs everything, and that the highest aim of any leader is to see Jesus clearly and point others to Him. – Dr. Mark Rutland Chapters (00:00:03) - The Leaders Notebook(00:00:26) - John the Baptist and the Taxation(00:01:26) - The Story of the Birth of Jesus(00:07:38) - The Life of Zechariah and the Angel Gabriel(00:15:17) - John 3: Behold the Lamb of God that taketh(00:15:56) - John the Baptist(00:20:25) - John the Baptist's Baptism(00:27:25) - Joel the prophet(00:35:21) - The Personal End of John the Baptist(00:41:06) - John Baptist: A Success or a Failure?

This sermon explores a faith that eagerly anticipates Christ's second coming. Drawing from Romans 8 and the story of Mary and the Angel Gabriel, Kory challenges the notion of unconditional grace, stating that God's gifts, like hope, are not charity but an invitation to a covenant relationship. He calls believers to be active carriers of hope in a groaning world. This requires resisting the temptations of despair and desperation and instead embracing the confidence that God is working all present suffering for good.

Come As You Are Series -- MaryLuke 1:38 “I am the Lord's servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.”I have been hesitant to talk about Mary in our Come As You Are series. I am not sure why. Part of it was that there was so much you could say about her. Another part of it was that we may feel we can't relate to Mary. She is amazing and so brave, and is the Mother of Jesus. What could we possibly have in common with her?I went online to learn more about Mary before she became the Mother of Jesus. Scripture does not tell us a lot about her before the Angel Gabriel visited her. There are a few things they do tell us and then there are a few things that we can learn from historical context. We know she was a woman living in her time. Here are a few things we know about Mary.1. She lived in NazarethLuke 1:26 says the angel Gabriel was sent “to a virgin in Nazareth.”Nazareth was a tiny, poor, obscure village — maybe 200–400 people.Nothing “good” came from there (John 1:46 “Can anything good come from Nazareth?”)This tells us:
Mary was from a humble, ordinary, overlooked place.2. She was a virgin engaged to JosephLuke 1:27 “to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary.”Engagement (betrothal) in Jewish culture was legally binding — more serious than a modern engagement. This tells us:
She was likely between 13–16 years old, a normal age for betrothal.3. She was deeply faithful and knew ScriptureMary's song, the Magnificat (Luke 1:46–55), is filled with: Quotes from Psalms, Echoes of Hannah's prayer (1 Samuel 2), Old Testament theology about God's mercy, justice, and covenantThis tells us:
She had a heart soaked in God's Word long before Gabriel appeared.4. She was humbleHer response to Gabriel: “I am the servant of the Lord…” (Luke 1:38)Her song: “He has looked on the humble state of His servant” (Luke 1:48)This tells us:
Humility wasn't something she learned after meeting Jesus — it was already who she was.5. She found favor with God before she was chosenLuke 1:28: “You are highly favored.”Luke 1:30: “You have found favor with God.”This tells us:
She already lived a life that pleased God — long before she carried Jesus. Now that we know a bit more about Mary, we can see that there may be some similarities. Here is a summary of the things we know about Mary. She was a young teen, living in an obscure, poor town. She had little earthly status, but had a deep love for God. She was humble, faithful, and obedient. She really knew her Scripture. God already favored her at a young age. Some of this we might relate to, and some of it we might not. Many can relate to growing up in an obscure place or feeling out of place in our community. We talked about this when we talked about Gideon. He was a man from the weakest clan in Manasseh and, by his own admission, the least in his family. Yet the angel of God called him a “mighty warrior.” What about you? What do you call yourself? What does your family call you? Do they see the amazing person that God sees, or do they just see you as a friend, a mom, a dad, a sibling? I know my kids are always surprised when I know something they don't think I should know. To them, I am just mom. They don't see me as someone who has her master's degree or someone who has written books and started her own business. They just see me as mom.I doubt many people from Mary's town would have looked at her and said, “She is going to be the mother of our Savior one day.” I doubt they looked at her and saw anything special. If the days when she lived were anything like when I was young, then she was probably an outcast, as those who love God tend to be outcasts. People don't understand why we love God so much. They don't understand why we would choose Him over all the “fun” things to do in this world.I was told by a priest one time how Mary and Joseph got engaged. He said that Mary had made a vow to the Lord to remain a virgin. The unmarried men in the area gathered to see who would marry this young woman who wanted to remain a virgin. They all threw their staffs in a pile, and when Joseph threw his in the pile, flowers grew out of it. This is why you will often see Joseph depicted with a staff with flowers growing out of it. When I looked up this story online, I found that this story is from the apocrypha (ancient books not considered reliable enough to be included in the Bible). There, the Protoevangelium of James claims that when young Mary wanted to dedicate herself as a perpetual virgin at the Temple, the high priest prayed for direction. An angel then told him to gather all of the unmarried men of the area, and have each one bring his rod (generally thought to be a walking stick or staff) to the temple “and to whomsoever the Lord shall show a sign, his wife shall she be…and Joseph took his rod last; and behold, a dove came out of the rod, and flew upon Joseph's head. And the priest said to Joseph, ‘You have been chosen by lot to take into your keeping the virgin of the Lord.'”Isn't this beautiful to know that God picked Joseph out for Mary? Who better to arrange your marriage than the Lord your God? I also heard that Joseph may have also made a similar vow, so it worked out well for both of them. Imagine that God knew what He was doing when her put Mary and Joseph together. I have a friend who is getting married, and he was praying about the marriage one day, and he heard the Lord tell him that it was an arranged marriage and that God had arranged it. Can you imagine? What better proof that you are meant to be together than the Lord telling you that He arranged your engagement?Notice, God did not arrange for Mary to be with someone who wanted to change her. He didn't arrange for her to be with someone who was unkind to her and criticized everything she said and did. He brought someone in her life that loved her for who she was and supported her, even when she was pregnant and they weren't married yet. Even when she was pregnant, and he didn't know how she could be.  He supported her and raised Jesus as his own son. That is truly a God arranged marriage.God loved Mary. He knew her wishes and how much she loved Him. He arranged for her to be married to a good husband. He asked her to do an incredible thing, and she said yes. I am not sure if Mary understood all she was saying yes to, and yet she said yes anyway. What if we could do this? What if we could say yes, even though we don't have all the details? What if we could say yes, even when we don't quite understand the call? What if we just said yes because we know God and we trust that if He is asking us, then we will be able to handle whatever comes our way.God wants us to come to Him just as we are, and He will give us all we need just as He did for Mary. He gave Mary a loving spouse. One who would find her a safe place to have her baby. One who would listen to the angel from his dreams and wake them up in the middle of the night and move them to Egypt until they were the same. Then he would move them back once they were safe. God will give you all you need to do what He is calling you to do as well. God is calling you to do something. It might not be as extraordinary as carrying the Savior of the World, but it will still be an important call. Will you say yes? Will you come as you are and trust that you are exactly who God needs for this particular call? God loves you, yes, you, just as you are! I hope that if you get nothing else out of this series, you will believe that God loves you more than you could ever imagine and that He wants you to come to Him just as you are. You don't have to change anything to come to Him! He just wants you!!Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening today. Lord, we love you and we want to believe you love us. New Hope Daily SOAP - Daily Devotional Bible Reading

Daily Dose of Hope July 29, 2025   Scripture – Luke 1:26-56   Prayer:  Almighty God, We rejoice in your holy name.  We give you glory.  Thank you for a new day.  May we experience you, today, Lord.  May we hear your voice and hear you when you call us.  We want to do your will.  We want to say yes.  In Your Name, Amen.   Welcome back, friends, to the Daily Dose of Hope, a deep dive into the Gospels and Acts.  Today, we are covering part 2 of 3 in Luke 1.  We are reading about Mary.   We read that the Angel Gabriel appears to Mary and tells her that she is highly favored. She is immediately troubled with this greeting.  Think about this – Mary was a poor, humble girl, probably around age 14.  Why in the world would an angel greet her this way?  But we soon find out.  Gabriel tells Mary that she will become pregnant and her son will be called the Son of the Most High; she is to call him Jesus.   Some context is helpful here.  Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph. In those days, girls were married very young. As soon as they became able to have children, they were betrothed. It could have been as young as 12, as old as 15. (Life expectancy was low.) And once the marriage was arranged (by the parents), the betrothal was marked by a party, which would be followed up by another party a year later, and it is at that time that the couple would start to live together as husband and wife. It was definitely more formal thatn what we think of as engagement. A divorce was required to end it, and if the groom died during the year, the woman was considered a widow.   I say all this to show how serious an engagement was during the first century.  And now the angel is telling Mary that she would become pregnant.  Mary would have known that this kind of incident put her in real danger. Virgin births were no less unusual two thousand years ago than they are today. And Mary, despite her young age, would have known where babies come from. She knew that to be pregnant meant that she had to be impregnated. She supplies half the genetic material. Someone else had to supply the other half and Joseph would have know that he did not do it.   We probably don't read between the lines as quickly as someone in the first century. Probably one of the first things to go through Mary's head was “Umm...this could get me in some real trouble.” And I don't mean it would just upset her parents. This threatened all her plans. She risked losing her upcoming marriage. She risked being ostracized by her family. She risked being the butt of the gossip mill in little Nazareth, being called names and being subjected to hardship. She even risked being killed by the Jewish authorities. The consequence for adultery was death according to Jewish law and although this wasn't always carried out, it certainly could be, and a young, unmarried, poor girl from Nazareth would sure be an easy target.   So, you would think this information would make Mary hesitant.  But after the first question of “well how in the world could this be,” Mary responds with “I am the Lord's servant...May your word to me be fulfilled.”  I've often wondered what went on in Mary's mind between “how can this be” and “I am the Lord's servant.”  She had every excuse in the book to say, “NO! Not me!” But she doesn't.  She trusts God and allows him to use her.    God is telling us a lot about his character and what he values. We know that God uses and God values the meek, the humble, and the lowly. He uses a poor, young girl from a poor little town to be the mother of the savior of the world. We know that, over and over again, God identifies with the poor, the weak, and the oppressed. This ends up being a central theme in Jesus' ministry as well. God values meekness and humility and because of that, so should we. It also shows that God chooses to work in places and through people that the world would not choose. He is more concerned with someone's willingness to say yes than their pedigree or resume.  That is certainly the case with Mary.    So what can we learn about God through the person of Mary? The reality is that God sometimes calls us to do things that are hard. God calls us to things that aren't on our agenda, things that might derail our hopes, plans, dreams.  He may even call us to do things that are dangerous and be with people we don't want to be with or go places we don't want to go.  This is the hard truth – Just as he did with Mary, God may call us to make sacrifices, to give up things we would prefer to do, all because he asked us to do it.    Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Friends of the Rosary,Today, June 24, is the Solemnity of the Nativity of John the Baptist, the precursor and forerunner of the Lord.Along with Jesus and Mary, John the Baptist's nativity is one of the three birthdays on the Church's calendar.John had a special place in God's salvific plan. His conception was a miracle; he was sanctified and cleansed of original sin in the womb of his mother, Elizabeth, at the Visitation.Elizabeth was Mary's cousin and Zachary was a priest of the Temple in Jerusalem. As a baby in the womb, John recognized Jesus' presence in Mary's womb when Mary visited Elizabeth soon after the Annunciation. Both women were pregnant at the same time. The Angel Gabriel had visited Zachary and told him that his wife would bear a child, even though she was already past the childbearing age.John was probably born in Ain-Karim, located southwest of Jerusalem. As a young adult, he lived as a hermit in the Judean desert until approximately A.D. 27.At the age of 30, he began preaching on the banks of the Jordan, calling for repentance and baptizing people in the river's waters. When Jesus came to John to be baptized, John recognized Jesus as the Messiah and baptized Him, saying, “It is I who needs baptism from you.”John the Baptist spent his adult life preparing the way for Jesus, proclaiming that “the Kingdom of Heaven is close at hand.”He preached the baptism of repentance that was necessary to prepare for Christ, the Lamb of God, as he identified Him. He preceded and heralded the Redeemer.John continued to preach after Jesus was baptized, but was imprisoned by Herod Antipas after he denounced the king's adulterous marriage with Herodias, wife of his half-brother Philip.John was beheaded at the request of Salome, daughter of Herodias, dying as a martyr and anticipating Christ Jesus' saving death on the cross. Many came to know Jesus through John, namely the Apostles Andrew and John.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Read OnlineThe angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin's name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”  Luke 1:26–28Imagine if the Angel Gabriel, the glorious Archangel who stands before the Most Holy Trinity, were to come to you and announce to you that you were “full of grace” and that “The Lord is with you.” What an indescribable and awe-inspiring experience that would be! And yet this is exactly what happened to this young teenager, the Blessed Virgin Mary.We celebrate today this amazing event that took place, marking the moment when God took on human flesh within her blessed womb. Note that today is nine months before Christmas. The Church gives us this Solemnity today to invite us to walk with Mary over these coming nine months so as to join her in her rejoicing over the birth of her divine Son.Much could be said about this glorious Solemnity. We could ponder Mother Mary and her Immaculate Conception. We could ponder the very words spoken by the Archangel. We could ponder the mystery surrounding her pregnancy and the way in which God chose to set this gift into motion. And we could ponder so much more. Though all of these aspects are worth fully pondering and praying over, let's focus upon the reaction of this young woman to the angelic announcement.First, we read that Mary was “greatly troubled” and “pondered” these words spoken by the Archangel. Being troubled reveals that Mary did not have full knowledge of what the Archangel was revealing. But the fact that she pondered the words also reveals her openness to a fuller understanding. She then seeks a deeper gift of knowledge by asking, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” This response is first an assent of belief in faith followed by a request for a deeper understanding of this revelation. Faith is the ability to assent to that which we do not fully understand, but true faith always seeks a deeper understanding—and this is what Mary did. After being given some further revelation by the Archangel, Mary fully accepts what was revealed and trusts that what she was told was all she needed to know at that time. And then she offers what has come to be known as her “fiat.” She says, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” This fiat of Mary is her perfect prayer of surrender to the will of God, and it is also the perfect model for how we all must respond to the will of God. We must see ourselves as true servants of His will, and we must fully embrace whatsoever God asks of us, completely uniting our wills to His.Reflect, today, upon these words of our Blessed Mother: “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” How is God asking you to make this your prayer also? How is God calling you to serve His most holy will? Are you willing to fully assent to anything and everything God asks of you? As you prayerfully reflect upon this fiat of our Blessed Mother, seek to unite her response to yours so that you, too, will be a servant of the most high God.Father in Heaven, You sent Your Son to become incarnate in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Your glorious Archangel Gabriel brought forth this Good News. May I always be attentive to the messages You send forth to me as You invite me to join in Your divine mission of bringing Your Son into the world. I say “Yes'' this day, dear Lord, to serve Your most holy will. Jesus, I trust in You.Benvenuto Tisi, Public domain, via Wikimedia CommonsSource of content: catholic-daily-reflections.comCopyright © 2025 My Catholic Life! Inc. All rights reserved. Day 1: Mary, Full of Grace From the Gospel according to Luke 1:28 In the sixth month, the Angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth. He was sent to a young virgin who was betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the family of David: and the virgin's name was Mary. The Angel came to her and said, Rejoice, Full of Grace!  Let us pray: Almighty Father, all-powerful and ever-living God, we thank You for bestowing upon Your highly favored daughter all the graces to be Your Son's Mother and to be the Mother of all. We thank You for sending Your Son Jesus Christ to be our redeemer and savior. Thank You for giving us the breath of life and the splendor of Your creations. We thank You, Father, our Lord, and our God, for Your infinite kindness and mercy. How good You are to us, your children. We praise you and worship you, with Your Son, Jesus Christ, and his Mother Mary, our intercessor. To You, we owe everything. We acknowledge humbly that without You, we are nothing. Receive our gratitude and our undying adoration and devotion. We will try to reciprocate Your loving kindness by obeying Your commandments, by loving our neighbors and by earnestly endeavoring to become more like Your Son. We shall continuously affirm Your lordship and celebrate Your goodness and kindness all the days of our life. Amen.
