This week on the Truth From The Stand podcast, I'm catching up with Jake Hofer. If you're into getting better at hunting and managing ground the right way, this one's for you. We talk about the real work behind whitetail management, the kind that doesn't show up in a highlight reel—tree planting, fixing screw-ups, and learning to let the land teach you a few hard lessons. Jake also talks about stepping into ownership at Whitetail Master Academy, and how diving deeper into habitat work and smarter hunting strategies has changed how he approaches chasing big deer. We cover everything from balancing work, life, and whitetails, to late-season muzzleloader success, to how traditional archery will flat-out expose your weaknesses. If you want the honest version of what it takes to get better in the deer woods, it's all packed into this episode. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM PODCAST 438 Balance the chaos—hunting, work, and life all even out over time. Smarter hunting starts with efficient scouting and patient land management. Every property has a ceiling—success comes from knowing and working with it. Growth in the woods (and in life) is about learning, failing, and staying hungry. Jake opens up about his passion for helping others find the perfect farm. The guys discuss practical tips on the first steps to take when buying a farm and whether investing in turnkey properties or raw land is better. Jake highlights creative ways to finance properties and sheds light on the often-hidden costs of purchasing a farm. If you're eyeing a property next door, Jake discusses the pros and cons of buying your neighbor's land. The Land Podcast - The Pursuit of Land Ownership and Investing
In this episode, Jared, Brian, and Jake Hofer discuss a range of topics including updates on the real estate market, farm projects, trail camera strategies for deer hunting, and the beauty and importance of trees. They provide insights and advice on navigating the real estate market, share tips for finding equipment for home renovation projects, and discuss how to maximize the effectiveness of trail cameras. Join them for an informative and entertaining conversation that covers various aspects related to these topics. • Experts advise buying what you can afford and what aligns with your goals, ensuring financial stability during turbulent times. • Witnessing a project come to life in a day is a truly amazing experience. • Using an external power source for cell cameras reduces the need for frequent battery changes. • Delivering accurate and consistent arrow performance with customizable options. • Jake prefers fixed broadheads like the G five Striker and K two lictor for hunting. • He hunts both from preset stands and mobile setups, depending on the season and circumstances. • Interest rates are the highest they've been in 20 years, but the real estate market is still booming due to limited inventory. • The land market is fueled by cash purchases, especially for tillable tracks, which are not as impacted by the stock market. • Smaller parcels continue to be in high demand, but 1031 exchange money is now the minority among buyers. • Using professional equipment for a renovation project can save time and yield better results. • Understanding that false triggers are caused by a change in infrared radiation, not by the camera being faulty. • The addition of fletching options provides enhanced arrow stability and accuracy. • Taking the guesswork out of arrow selection, this simplified process allows for a confident and effective hunting experience. https://linktr.ee/TheLandPodcast https://linktr.ee/exodustrailcamera https://bit.ly/TheDeerGearPodcast
Habitat Podcast #239 - In today's episode of The Habitat Podcast, Jared and brain welcome back repeat guest Jake Hofer. We get into the current state of the real estate market, strategies for buying within your means, predictions for potential buyers, the importance of taking action, finding reliable equipment operators and the benefits of using cell cameras. We discuss: Avoid overpaying and find a balance between patience and assertiveness in the market. Community scrapes near bedding areas provide valuable data on deer activity. Historical data and floater cameras help identify target bucks and hot spots during the season. Hanging cameras higher shortens detection distance and alters the detection zone. Attention to camera positioning and SD card maintenance helps avoid false triggers and poor quality pictures. Monthly payments for properties have increased significantly compared to a year ago. The popularity of using 1031 money to purchase properties has decreased Buy What You Can Afford EHD update in Illinois Witnessing a project come to life in a day And so much more! The Land Podcast - The Pursuit of Land Ownership and Investing
If you are looking for a place to learn more about land, the land buying processes, recreational land trends, land sale prices, how to buy your first piece of ground how, and anything that has to do with land, then you're in the right location. Now if you're looking for a podcast that is all about habitat food plots, how to set up a property, this probably is in the podcast for you- thankfully there's a lot of great information already out there on those subjects. But what I've noticed- there isn't a resource right now that covers the nitty-gritty of land transactions and everything else land. Now just a little about myself and my level of expertise, my name Jake Hofer - I am a broker out of the state of Illinois and I work with LANDPROZ. I graduated from Western Illinois University in 2017 and I am the co-owner of exodus Trail cameras which - a DTC trail camera manufacture that has been disrupting the trail camera industry over the last six years. If you're listening to this, then there's a good chance you've heard the Exodus podcast Trail Cam Radio with episodes every Tuesday. Now whether you believe in personality test or anagrams or anything else like that I pretty much match up with an achiever and entrepreneurial mindset. I am extremely goal-oriented and one of my biggest goals is to purchase recreational ground to where it is a strong investment and I have the opportunity to make the best parcel possible for wildlife and Chase big whitetails. Now some of these topics have already been covered in the real estate world but you know what it hasn't been talked about in a matter of how you and I talk and understand. We're going to cover the primary pillars of real estate, but with the concise focus of those concepts in relation to owning recreational ground and land in general. Buckle up because we're going on this learning journey together, and the goal of this podcast is to help or assist 100 people purchase their first piece of dirt in some shape or form. We're putting together some exclusive downloadable land buying resources that can be found in the link of every podcast episode. Welcome aboard and head to episode the next episode.
