Is Brendon McCullum at risk of losing his job if they lose this series? Or will the hierarchy make a decision after this Test Match regardless of the outcome? How will fans feel about Ben Stokes' return to the England side as captain? How will it go down in the dressing room after McCullum & Key refused to publicly back him? How will McCullum's tenure as England Head Coach be defined if he were to leave his role after this series? Eng v NZ Daily 2026, 2nd Test, Oval, Preview: For England, it's hard to imagine how their time since Lord's could've been more chaotic. So much drama, so many changes. Now across the river, it means at least two debuts, possibly three, and up to give changes pending circumstances outside of their control in a birthing suite. What of Stokes, and McCullum's press conference yesterday? And of Root, who steered so comfortably through his captain's press conference today? Might it be that interim leader extends to, say, the 2027 Ashes? Adam and Ben Jones can see it. As for New Zealand, after some time away, they arrive at a ground without Williamson, but with belief that these conditions should suit them perfectly to make the most of this chance. Can Stokes and McCullum be realigned on their philosophies and make England more than the sum of their parts, rather than less? The public demand it after the woes of last winter. Send us Fan MailEnvironmental engineering is a broad field that includes air, water, and soil engineering. Among those areas, air quality has broad impacts on the environment since it is not always localized. For example, forest fires can affect the air quality for people and wildlife that are thousands of kilometers away.In this episode we sit down with Kevin McCullum to learn about his career as an environmental engineer. Kevin has worked in both private industry and government sectors for 30 years, gaining a wealth of experience. During his career he has worked on a number of engineering projects related to air, water, and soil, but he has a true passion for air quality projects. Kevin is the Principal Engineer and Owner at KRM Environmental Consulting. His firm provides a variety of engineering services for air, water, and soil quality monitoring, and they offer services in data analytics and environmental reporting. In this conversation, Kevin shares his journey in engineering and talks about some of the projects he worked on. He also offers advice to young people thinking about a career in engineering.
In this episode of the show, Binksy, Baldy and Stu discuss an interesting week in the world of cricket, which saw the IPL begin with RCB's win over SRH, New Zealand Cricket approve (in-principle) the formation of a new T20 franchise league & more details emerged about England's post-Ashes review. We start the show with game 1 of IPL 2026 - the Sunrisers Hyderabad taking on the defending champion RCB. The match played all the hits - big sixes, quality catches and big names - but it was a big Kiwi who stole the show with Jacob Duffy grabbing three quick wickets in the powerplay for RCB and then earning himself a well-deserved rest after 7 overs of the contest. We discuss the impact player rule, Virat Kohli's shot of the tournament, bowling concerns for SRH, Phil Salt's catching and a scattering of other IPL news including an injury to MS Dhoni and Ben Duckett's withdrawal. As we move to New Zealand, we breeze past South Africa's white-ball tour only really name-checking Ben Sears & Amelia Kerr, and spend the majority of this segment wondering how the proposed NZ20 franchise league would work and whether there's enough time to get things up and running for January 2027. To round out the show, we discuss England Cricket's post-Ashes review, which has seen the Stokes/McCullum combination retained . . . at least for now. We talk about whether anything is likely to change, whether it needed to change and why the Bazball style might not have suited the current England squad in the same way that it seemed to energise the group only a few years ago. I feel like we have a month's worth of news that has happened since we last recorded. Mo Salah's departure announcement, yet more Chelsea punishment, Brendon McCullum's continuation as England Head Coach, Spurs going deeper into the relegation pit; where do we even start. Don't worry, we'll be taking a look at all of this in some capacity, but the Mo Salah news and what it tells us about Liverpool's current situation, alongside the ECB's decision to stick with the leadership that oversaw such a depressing winter for English cricket will lead from the front in this week's episode of ‘The Breakdown'.Disclaimer:The views and opinions expressed on this podcast are for informational and entertainment purposes only.

The tragic story of Michelle McCullum, a young mother who killed herself and her two children a decade after Hurricane Katrina, illustrates the deep and lasting toll the storm took on New Orleans' Black communities. McCullum, who grew up in the Treme neighborhood, faced cascading challenges in a city reshaped by demographic shifts, job losses, and a weakened social safety net. She became emblematic of how systemic disinvestment, displacement, and inadequate mental health care compounded the trauma left in Katrina's wake. Her death underscored the urgent need for mental health resources and broader support in one of America's poorest and Blackest cities. In this episode, we speak with Adam Mahoney, climate and environment reporter at Capital B.about our lessons from Hurricane Katrina 20 years later. You can read his article that was published in Mother Jones – Is the Legacy of Hurricane Katrina More Lethal Than the Storm?
