A Step-by-Step Guide to Using Claude as a Food Blogger with Shruthi Baskaran-Makanju

Using AI to run a smarter food blog, understanding the different Claude tools, and moving beyond using AI as a chatbot with Shruthi Baskaran-Makanju from Urban Farmie. ----- Welcome to episode 584 of The Food Blogger Pro Podcast! This week on the podcast, Bjork interviews Shruthi Baskaran-Makanju from Urban Farmie. A Step-by-Step Guide to Using Claude as a Food Blogger Shruthi Baskaran-Makanju recently made the leap from a successful career in management consulting to become a full-time content creator with Urban Farmie. Her background in business strategy didn't disappear when she made the switch, and it has become one the most valuable tools in her toolbox, especially when it comes to how she uses AI in her business. In this episode, Shruthi shares how she's moved well beyond using Claude as a chatbot and has started treating it as a genuine business partner — delegating tasks, building custom skills, and creating systems that let her spend more time on the work only she can do. If you've been curious about AI but aren't sure how to actually integrate it into your workflow in a meaningful way, this episode is a great place to start. Three episode takeaways: There are different stages to incorporating AI into your workflow — and most people stop too early — Using Claude to answer a question or draft a caption is just the beginning. Shruthi walks through what it looks like to move from using AI as a chatbot to using it as a true assistant: one that handles mundane, repeatable tasks on your behalf so you can focus on the work that brings you joy. Custom skills are one of the most powerful AI features for food bloggers — Shruthi has built a library of Claude skills tailored to her business — including one that creates a virtual board of advisors to help her think through decisions. She breaks down what a skill actually is, what makes a good first skill to build, how to workshop and iterate on a skill until it does exactly what you want, and how she uses skills to write and refine standard operating procedures for her team. Understanding your AI tools makes all the difference — Knowing when to use Claude Chat vs. CoWork vs. Design vs. Code can save you a lot of frustration. Shruthi explains the differences between the tools, walks through how connectors like QuickBooks work, and shares why auditing your AI workflows on a monthly basis is key to getting the most out of the tools available to you. Want to rent out your house? This is how to do it right: get the best tenants and the highest rent.  For most Americans, renting out their previous primary residence will be their first experience in real estate investing. Thankfully, renting out your house like a professional is not hard; you just have to follow a few key steps that inexperienced investors will completely skip over. Today, Dave is sharing his step-by-step guide to renting out your home, even if you have no experience, even if you're self-managing. From estimating how much to charge for rent to listing your property, screening tenants, collecting security deposits, and keeping the cash flow coming, anyone can be a good landlord if they put in the effort. When done right, renting out your home can give you another stream of income, tens or even hundreds of thousands in equity over the long term, and experience in real estate investing. You've got the house; this is how you rent it out. In This Episode We Cover How to know whether you should rent out your house in the first place (or sell it) Estimating what to charge for rent (and the most accurate way to do it) Should you hire a property manager or self-manage your rental? Landlord insurance 101: Why you must switch before your tenant moves in How to screen tenants legally (and fairly) to get the best ones in your property  Traps to avoid at all costs when renting out your home (Dave's $5,000 mistake)  And So Much More! EMOTIONALLY DRUNK ON YOU A Deeper Investigation Into Whether Insecure Attachment and Codependence Turn Love Into an Emotional Substance We Use to Escape Ourselves With Special Guest Dr. Allen Berger SYNOPSIS A lover can enter your bloodstream without ever touching your body. One text settles the panic. One unanswered call restarts it. A warm tone restores your worth. A distant look sends your identity into free fall. No chemical entered the system, yet the entire internal climate changed. What, then, have you been consuming? Human beings rarely describe romantic attachment as intoxication. Culture gives it prettier names. Passion. Loyalty. Devotion. Chemistry. Ride-or-die love. Yet beneath some of these celebrated experiences lives a dangerous emotional arrangement: another person has become responsible for producing the inner condition you cannot yet produce, tolerate, or sustain for yourself. Their attention becomes medicine. Their approval becomes evidence that you matter. Their availability becomes protection against abandonment. Their need for you becomes proof that you deserve to exist. Their obedience becomes peace. Once love carries this burden, relationship stops functioning as an encounter between two free human beings. It becomes a private emotional economy in which one person must keep paying so the other person does not collapse. Attachment theory helps explain how early bonds can shape the adult nervous system's expectations of closeness, separation, safety, and loss. Codependence adds another layer. A person may manage, rescue, fix, please, monitor, sacrifice, or overfunction in order to maintain access to emotional security. The behavior can look loving from the outside while fear quietly writes the contract. The anxious partner may call control “connection.” The avoidant partner may call emotional disappearance “freedom.” The rescuer may call indispensability “service.” The self-erasing partner may call surrender “commitment.” Every strategy attempts to solve the same unbearable problem: how can I keep another person from awakening feelings I do not know how to live with? Dr. Allen Berger's concept of emotional sobriety attacks this arrangement at its foundation. His work challenges the hidden belief that personal peace depends upon people, places, and circumstances behaving according to our private rules. “I am okay if you call.” “I am okay if you stay.” “I am okay if you understand.” “I am okay if you choose me.” These conditions turn another person's freedom into a threat. Could emotional sobriety begin when “I am okay if” finally loses authority? This does not require emotional coldness, radical isolation, or the fantasy that mature adults need nobody. Human beings require connection. The deeper question concerns governance. Who governs your inner life when someone disappoints you? Who controls your identity when affection gets withdrawn? Who becomes responsible for calming the fear that existed before the relationship began? Clinical maturity may involve learning to experience jealousy without surveillance, loneliness without self-erasure, uncertainty without interrogation, disappointment without retaliation, and grief without turning loss into proof of personal worthlessness. Philosophically, emotional sobriety confronts our understanding of love itself. Can love remain love when it demands psychological captivity? Can intimacy survive without control? Can commitment retain meaning when fear serves as the lock? A partner who cannot leave has not necessarily chosen you. A partner who must constantly regulate you has little room left to meet you. Culturally, many communities teach people to endure emotional dependence as evidence of loyalty. Men may learn to hide dependency behind authority, possession, silence, or rage. Women may receive praise for transforming self-neglect into service. Family systems can reward the person who carries everyone while quietly punishing the same person for developing a self. Under these conditions, codependence can wear the clothing of morality. Metaphysically, the topic reaches even further. What happens when consciousness seeks completion through possession? Can another person ever provide permanent shelter from an interior world you refuse to inhabit? Perhaps every attempt to make someone else the source of your emotional stability places sacred responsibility in human hands that cannot carry it. Tonight's investigation enters the space between love and dependency, support and self-abandonment, care and control, attachment and intoxication. Are you loving your partner? Or are you drinking them? And when the emotional supply runs low, who do you become?

Want to live longer, sleep better, and feel sharper? Start walking. Dr. Courtney Conley is here to show you how to make every step pay compound interest.Full show notes and resources can be found here: jordanharbinger.com/1322What We Discuss with Courtney Conley:Walking isn't optional cardio you bolt onto your week — it's a core biological input on par with breathing and sleeping. Courtney Conley argues we've engineered it out of daily life, with the average person logging just 4,700 steps a day, running what amounts to a slow systems failure on the body. The longevity sweet spot is 7,000 to 8,000 steps per day, not the famous 10,000 — that number was literally a marketing campaign for a Japanese pedometer during the Tokyo Olympics, with zero science behind it. Past 10,000 to 12,000 steps, the benefits plateau hard.A 10 to 15 minute walk within 30 minutes of eating is a metabolic cheat code. Muscle contraction pulls glucose out of your bloodstream alongside the pancreas — sit after a meal and you're only using half your blood-sugar regulation system, which is brutal news for anyone with insulin resistance.Your toes are a longevity marker hiding in plain sight. Toe strength declines before grip strength, correlates with glucose levels, and predicts falls as you age — and the foot loses sensitivity so dramatically that by age 80 it takes 75% more pressure to stimulate the same sensory receptors as it did at 50.Start with a five-minute "micro walk" — that's roughly 500 steps, and for sedentary folks under 2,500 daily steps, that tiny addition meaningfully decreases all-cause mortality. Pair it with a post-meal walk and a "relationship walk" with a spouse, kid, or friend, and you've stacked metabolic, mental health, and social benefits into one ridiculously simple habit. And much more...And if you're still game to support us, please leave a review here — even one sentence helps! The Inventive Journey

What happens when another business files a trademark that looks a little too close to yours? Do you ignore it and hope for the best—or step in before it becomes a much bigger problem? In this episode, we break down the trademark opposition process in a way that actually makes sense for business owners. No legal jargon overload, no unnecessary complexity—just a clear, strategic look at how to protect your brand before confusion hits the market.Trademark opposition is one of the most underutilized tools in brand protection. Many businesses don't realize they have a limited window—typically 30 days—to challenge a trademark application before it's registered. Miss that window, and your options become more expensive, more complicated, and far less convenient. We walk through the full process step by step, starting with how to identify a potentially conflicting trademark. Whether you're using a monitoring service or keeping an eye on filings yourself, awareness is the first line of defense. From there, we dive into the Notice of Opposition—what it is, what it needs to include, and why it's more than just paperwork. This is where your legal argument begins, and getting it right from the start can shape the entire case.We also explore what happens after you file. The applicant responds, and the case moves into discovery—a phase where both sides exchange evidence and information. It's detailed, structured, and often the longest part of the process. But here's something many people don't expect: most trademark oppositions never reach a final decision. Instead, they settle. We discuss why that happens, what settlement can look like, and how it can actually be a smart business outcome.Of course, not every situation calls for opposition. We talk about how to evaluate whether a trademark is truly a threat or just a minor similarity that won't impact your business. Strategic decision-making is key.We also touch on the risks—missed deadlines, weak claims, escalating costs, and even reputational concerns if enforcement becomes too aggressive. Trademark opposition is powerful, but it's not something to approach casually. Finally, we bring it all back to business strategy. Protecting your brand isn't just about legal rights—it's about maintaining clarity in the marketplace and preserving the value you've worked hard to build. If you've ever wondered how to stop a confusing trademark before it becomes a problem, this episode gives you the roadmap. To chat about this one-on-one, grab a free consult at strategymeeting.com

For Debbie Weiss — bestselling author, speaker, and host of the Maybe I Can podcast — that question became the turning point that changed everything. In this deeply honest and vulnerable conversation, Debbie shares the emotional arc of her transformation: from decades of family caregiving that left her financially stressed, emotionally depleted, and disconnected from herself, to building an entirely new life through what she calls "sprinkles" — small, intentional shifts that slowly and powerfully rewrote her story.
