We are back! We missed the last one, thanks to the 8-day trad rave that is the Willie Clancy festival. A wonderful gathering of traditional music, but once the last weekend hits - let's just say this - send a drone over the town during that last weekend and you'd come back with footage that looked like gameplay straight outta Grand Theft Auto. So, here we are - normal lack of service resumes. We're brimming with new and old bits. Moving through stuff from Woven Skull, Jim O'Rourke, Welfare and Binga, Etch, Oil Gang, Hessle Audio and more. Bish bosh bang. Throw in some jungle, ravey piano, the Speaker of the House Of Commons losing his absolute nut and there ya go! In this episode, of Lisson ON AIR Art & Language (Michael Baldwin and Mel Ramsden) talk with Lisson Gallery’s Hana Noorali and Ossian Ward about its 40-year collaboration with the Red Krayola, a proto-punk band founded in Houston by Mayo Thompson. They discuss the largely improvised performances, the themes that went into these recordings – covering everything from conceptual art and activism to politics and philosophical thought – as well as how the first songs were written in residency at Robert Rauschenberg’s studio on Captiva Island, Florida, but only after Michael was detained by the CIA for carrying sensitive communist propaganda. Combining text from these tracts, as well as from their Index 01, exhibited at Documenta 5 in Kassel in 1972, Art & Language provided the lyrics that were sung or chanted by, among others, Michael Baldwin, Ian Burn, Kathryn Bigelow, Charles Harrison, Pauline Harrison, Sandra Harrison, Christine Kozlov, Lynn Lemaster, Philip Pilkington, Mel Ramsden and Mayo Thompson. Having released many albums with Red Krayola since 1976, Art & Language continue to develop this extension of their practice in advance of a performance in New York this September. Gushing and crying over High School Musical 2 can be exhausting. After the ravaging success of their discussion of the film's soundtrack, the boys are taking things easy for this episode by bringing their newly-found musical obsessions to the table. Josh has brought Jim O'Rourke's emotional magnum opus, 'Eureka'. This soothing, melancholic, and strangely uplifting little album has touched his heart in a profound way and wishes to share that same joy with Connor. Or at least, make up for having him listen to 'What Time Is It?' and 'Bet on It' more than once. Spoilers: he can very easily make up for that. The bar was set pretty low, to be fair. And as Josh predicted he would, Connor brought an Animal Collective record. 'Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished' is not only a cult hit among AnCo fans, it's an album that is already breaching into his top albums of all time. Can he convince Josh that AnCo are worth the hype? Will he be able to share the same love and affection he feels for them? Or at least, make it up for having him listen to The Feeling's 'Twelve Stops From Home?', one of Josh's worst album experiences? Spoilers: no matter what, he can never make it up for that. Never. Tune in to this week's episode to find out what the guys thought of their recommended albums and what albums they recommend each other for the next HIP HOP THEMED episode of Rate or Hate.

Vanligt folk heitir sænskt tríó sem er ekkert sérstaklega venjulegt. Don the Tiger er katalóníumaður sem syngur um hið hverfandi Aral vatn.

Ontario singer-songwriter Jonas Bonnetta is best known for his indie folk-pop project, Evening Hymns. More recently, he released the ambient album All This Here under his own name, which started off as a score to a documentary film about an inn on Newfoundland's Fogo Island. We talked to Jonas about his creative process in making the new album, how Jim O'Rourke's production inspired his own love for ambient music, and how performing songs about his late father led to physical and emotional exhaustion.
Tim Barnes is a fixture in Louisville's experimental music scene both as a performer and curator. He's played on records by Jim O'Rourke and Silver Jews, performed with Faust and Lee Ranaldo, and even negotiated musical moments for MTV and Nike. All this, and he's stayed level-headed and dedicated enough to help raise a family and tirelessly run one of Louisville's most important music venues, Dreamland. He sat down with JC to talk fusing rock drumming with artistic music, pushing artistic boundaries at all times, running an avant garde non-profit, and more... RADERE (CELE, Full Spectrum / Denver) Radere (@radere) is the alias of Carl Ritger – a guitarist and synthesist currently based in Denver, Colorado. His work primarily explores the shadowy gulf that exists between drone and noise, blurring traditional instrumentation, electronics, and location recordings into densely textured sonic monoliths. Radere’s recordings have found their way to light via a slew of independent labels, including Full Spectrum Records, Moodgadget Records, basic_sounds (RIP), and futuresequence. He also conducts ongoing collaborations with Sun Hammer, offthesky, Ten and Tracer, Cody Yantis, and Anduin; as well as John Templeton, alongside whom he comprises the experimental techno vehicle Coward. This mix is a recreation of a set he delivered at the New Romanticks launch party in Denver, Colorado on Labor Day. The city was bathed in the smoke of the burning American West. It choked the lungs and burned the eyes as oppressive heat rose from the dust. What was meant to be a fond farewell to summer 2k17 instead devolved into an endurance challenge of Herzogian proportions, befitting the funereal tenor of these selections. Existential hymns for a doomed desert caravan. Artwork by Chris Cole Stream / download all Deep Club Podcasts here: soundcloud.com/deepclubdenver/sets/deep-club-podcasts TRACKLIST: 01. It's finally here! After a long trek through the jungle of distribution hell, Eli Roth's The Green Inferno is finally ready for us to feast on, and boy were the guys ravenous to taste its many delights (except for Ted). Will this be an epicurean delight or fodder for Pepto Bismol. Only listening will answer that question for you. And remember to stick around to the very end for a special segment where Ted gives us his review of the movie too! Also featured: Last Year by Jim O'Rourke
