Luke took a small departure from the Hallmark Channel, he was last seen in “A Magical Christmas Village” last holiday season. At the time, he told the LA Times that his 17th Hallmark movie would likely be his last, saying that the channel “had been very good” to him but “how many firefighters can I play?” In the meantime, Macfarlane co-starred in a feature film called “Bros,” worked for AppleTV on a comedy called “Platonic” and was even offered a role in mega-hit Barbie but had to decline because of conflicts. Additionally, Macfarlane and his partner welcomed a baby girl named Tess in June of this year. So why is he back at Hallmark? Last year, "Hearties" turned out in force to listen to our episode with two of the stars from When Calls the Heart, Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith. With the Langley, BC-based series returning for a ninth season March 6 (on Super Channel Heart & Home), it's time to hear from Andrea Brooks. This is her eighth season as (now doctor) Faith Carter on the ever-popular Hallmark series. The Brantford, Ont., native grew up in Vancouver and has credits on several BC-based series, including a fun run as troublemaker Eve Teschmacher on The CW's Supergirl. Brooks shares stories working opposite Jon Cryer (as Lex Luthor) on that series. She also talks about her recent UP network movie "Fishing for Love." Brooks drops a few hints as to what fans have to look forward to in Season Nine -- it gets a little Bachelor-y -- and agrees that, yes, the Hope Valley wardrobe has evolved from corsets to "Frontier Caszh."The new mom also picks an animated children's show as her all-time favourite TV theme song -- sung by none other than the late '50s rocker Little Richard.

This week, I get to review the newest Hallmark movie, the first of the Summer Nights series, titled "You had me at Aloha" starring Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith. This was the first movie filmed in my home state Hawaii. I talk about the meaning of aloha, how the movie exemplifies the word, not just in the title but also in the storytelling. We unravel the truths in Ben and Paige, exalt the wardrobe, use of local talent and the beauty of the islands. I get to rant a little about the mispronunciation of Hawai'i. Lol. But this was a good movie. I liked it. I gave it three stars and am hopeful Hallmark will be back again. "Hearties" will be looking forward to the return of When Calls the Heart when the eighth season premieres Sunday, February 21 on Super Channel Heart & Home. So will Pascale Hutton and Kavan Smith, who return as sawmill sweethearts Rosemary and Leland Coulter. The two Canadian actors returned to Hope Valley -- really a specially contructed outdoor set located East of Vancouver -- to shoot for the first time under COVID safety precautions. This was the first season, unfortunately, that fans were not allowed on the set.They talk about that experience as well as what to expect during this eighth season, including the big decision ahead for lead character Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow). They also explore their own career paths, with Pascale talking about her start on movies such as "Ginger Snaps 2" and "Hollywood Wives: the True Story." Smith goes even further back to his days on the Canadian series Destiny Ridge.Both single out their favourite TV series growing up as well as their all-time favourite TV theme song.

Alright HNA fans, episode 20 caps off our take on Hallmark June weddings because, frankly, two of these was all we could take. The Perfect Bride: Wedding Bells is the sequel/finale to what we can only guess was it's riveting prequel, The Perfect Bride - not sure, we didn't bother to watch it. Anyhoo...Molly, played by Pascale Hutton, has effectively moved on from her heartbreaking altar fiasco with Steven and is primed and ready for happily ever after with Nick, Kavan Smith. If you're also staggered by these real-life names, you're not alone. Nick and Molly have A LOT going on. While she's trying to fully finance and purchase her own gym, he has left behind wedding photography for more artsy pursuits including a gallery opening. When the wedding venue totally biffs on their date to the tune of 6 weeks away, these two overthinker, overplanner types become the most unorganized, scattered and just plain indecisive couple any of us have ever met. Dean (Jensen Ackles) is frustrated when he can’t reach Crowley (Mark Sheppard), who has promised to find The First Blade.  When Crowley finally calls Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean, he tells them he fell off the wagon and has been injecting human blood and needs their help.  To make matters worse, he had a demon (guest star Rebecca Marshall) helping him find blood, but she sold him out and told Abaddon that he and the Winchesters were searching for The First Blade.  The brothers need to find the blade before Abaddon does, so they enlist the help of a former member of the Men of Letters (guest star Kavan Smith).  Meanwhile, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi appears in a cameo role.  Serge Ladouceur directed the episode written by Brad Buckner & Eugenie Ross-Leming (#915).
