The landscape of existence can sometimes feel like a cosmic play—actors shifting between roles, creating stories that ripple through time. On today's episode, we welcome Phil Proctor, an artist whose life weaves a tapestry of creativity, resilience, and humor. Known for his work with the legendary Firesign Theatre and an illustrious voice acting career, Phil has left an indelible mark on the worlds of comedy, film, and beyond.Phil Proctor is not merely a performer; he's a storyteller who transcends mediums. Reflecting on his career, Phil shared how the Firesign Theatre's surreal humor was designed not only to entertain but to provoke thought. “We were asking, ‘What is reality?'” he explained. “It's the question you should ask every day when you get out of bed.” These words capture the essence of his work—a blend of laughter and philosophy that challenges conventional perspectives.Phil described how technology has transformed his craft. From the days of live radio to recording film dialogue remotely, he marveled at the evolution of his industry. With characteristic wit, he recounted a time he dubbed a French comedy for Mel Brooks, only to find the humor lost on American audiences. “The test audience thought we were speaking French!” he laughed. Moments like these underscore Phil's adaptability and humor in the face of creative challenges.Phil also opened up about the impact of his voice acting roles, such as his long-running portrayal of Howard DeVille in Rugrats. He reflected on the joy of connecting with audiences worldwide, even decades after the show's heyday. From cartoons to video games like Assassin's Creed, his performances have reached far and wide, bridging generational gaps. One of the most profound parts of our discussion was Phil's recollection of surviving the Golden Dragon massacre in 1977. Amidst the chaos, he found solace in an unexpected synchronicity: learning that his wife was pregnant with their daughter. “Life has a way of balancing tragedy with joy,” he mused. This event, along with its psychic premonition, became the foundation of his memoir, Where's My Fortune Cookie?Phil's stories often ventured into the metaphysical. He shared how the Firesign Theatre's comedy sought to “deprogram” audiences from societal conditioning, offering a fresh lens to perceive reality. This philosophy—wrapped in humor—resonates deeply in today's fast-paced, media-saturated world. “We were making funny connections,” he said, “exercising the brain to see the world anew.”Beyond his creative endeavors, Phil's zest for life shines through in his personal anecdotes. Whether reminiscing about working with Mel Brooks or delighting in his grandchildren's fascination with technology, he embodies a boundless curiosity. His ability to balance the absurd with the profound makes his journey a testament to the power of humor and resilience. As the episode drew to a close, one thing became clear: Phil Proctor is more than a performer; he is a philosopher of humor, an explorer of reality, and a living reminder of life's intricate, interconnected dance. His stories inspire us to embrace curiosity, resilience, and a healthy dose of laughter.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/indie-film-hustle-a-filmmaking-podcast--2664729/support.

Welcome to CNBC-TV18's Marketbuzz Podcast. Here are top developments from around the world ahead of the trading session of September 26 -It seems the Nifty 50 is currently in a not-ready-to-go-down mode. The most minor dip gets bought into swiftly and the index continues to scale new peaks. Wednesday's session was no different and 26,032 is now the new record high for the Nifty and it remains to be seen for how long will that stay. -It was a surge in the index heavyweights in the final few minutes of the trading session that took the Nifty to a new peak. HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, all of them saw a spurt during the final half hour, propelling the index higher. The monthly expiry of the Nifty Bank also had a role to play. -Thursday is the monthly expiry of the Nifty and the index has gained over 850 points so far this series. This will be the fourth consecutive F&O Series that the Nifty ends with gains, having gained over 300 points in August as well. -Gift Nifty was little changed this morning indicating a muted start for the Indian market this morning. -Stocks to focus: Vedanta, PB Fintech, Five-Star Business Finance, Adani Group, ASK Automotive, SpiceJet, IDFC -Asian equities rallied this morning as fresh signs of vigor in technology stocks spread across Asia. Currencies pared sharp moves from the prior day that supported the dollar over the yen. Equity benchmarks in the tech-heavy markets of Japan and South Korea advanced. -Chinese equities fluctuated in opening trade. The Golden Dragon index of US-listed Chinese stocks fell on Wednesday, which may be an early sign of fatigue for the stimulus-driven rally in Chinese stocks this week. -The Dow Jones and S&P 500 retreated from their respective record highs on Wednesday as some selling pressure emerged at higher levels for the two Wall Street benchmarks. The S&P 500 fell 0.2%, while the Dow Jones shed 0.7% or nearly 300 points during the trading session to end below the mark of 42,000. The Dow also snapped a four-day winning streak in the process. However, the Nasdaq just managed to end above the flat line. -In commodities, oil was steady after plunging in the previous trading session. West Texas Intermediate, the US oil price, slipped more than 2% on Wednesday to settle below $70 a barrel. Elsewhere, gold traded steady near an all-time high as the weak US data bolstered the case for deeper interest rate cuts. Tune in to Marketbuzz Podcast for more cues

Alex, who becomes a significant part of Juniper's journey, perfectly captures the essence of a supportive and understanding partner. Alex recognizes Juniper's true self and supports her in embracing her inner child. Little Junebug (Mila Jones) We were split on our opinion of Mila Jones, portraying the young Juniper, adds a layer of innocence and charm to the film. While her character can be seen as precocious at times, she does a commendable job of embodying the spirit and curiosity of a young child. A Message We Can Relate To! Welcome back to CNBC-TV18's Marketbuzz Podcast, here are all the important updates ahead of the trading session of June 21 -GIFT Nifty was trading with a premium of seven points this morning from Nifty Futures' Thursday close, indicating a muted start for the Indian market. -Global cues continue to remain stable. Asian stocks crept higher this morning after US shares hit an intraday record overnight. The yen was in focus following a six-day slump which ratcheted up the risk of intervention. Equity benchmarks ticked higher in Japan and Australia, while Korean shares fell. A 1% drop in the Golden Dragon index of US-listed Chinese companies weighed on sentiment. -Overnight, the S&P 500 briefly topped 5,500 before losing traction, while the high-flying tech group powering the bull run came under pressure. The Nasdaq 100 slipped after a seven-day advance with Nvidia Corp. and Apple Inc. leading losses in megacaps. -Back home, Nifty 50 seems to be consolidating around record highs though it lacks directional cues. This trend may continue till the end of the month, post which companies start reporting their business updates for the quarter followed by their quarterly results. -For today, the market only has global cues to react to and there are plenty of them. The initial jobless claims in the US, the Bank of England interest rate decision, the US crude oil inventory data and of course, how Wall Street behaved overnight. -IT stocks will be in focus post Accenture's earnings. Accenture says discretionary spending is constrained, particularly in smaller projects. Brokerage firm Morgan Stanley is of the view that Accenture results and commentary pointed to a few positive data points such as strategy and consulting returning to growth and a pickup in smaller deals. -Stocks to watch: IT stocks, YES Bank, Aster DM, Amara Raja, Union Bank of India, ONGC, GIC Housing, Jindal Stainless Tune in to the Marketbuzz Podcast for more cues
