Trouble in Zur Algud Ch. 1With the battle still underway, the group uses all they have in their various kits. The cleric begins to look hurt, but the fight is far from over. In retaliation towards Thorak, the cleric casts Harm on one half of the Slash Bros. Valen, trying to test his luck with his magical flask, drinks an Elven Ale called PolyPilsner, which polymorphs the monk into a canary. Chan summons a flame strike on the flesh effigy, and it does even more damage than expected; as a result, her flames that she's done so well to control and suppress thus far are now beginning to go wild. A giant sunbeam from the Mad Cleric takes out a good number of the team, rendering them unconscious. The team's own cleric, Thorak, helps Chantico back up with a Cure Wounds spell. As she comes to, she uses burning hands on the cleric of Hastur, finally putting an end to him. They don't have time to celebrate; they pick up their fallen allies and begin to make a fast exit. The blob makes an unsettling sound that brings back some "familiar" faces. The andrite in the mines begins to explode as the group attempts to flee and fight as they head out of the mines. Chan calls to the Daughters of Creation and Enya to aid in the safe exit of her friends and companions. Calling three scorching rays towards the monsters closing in on the group, which coalesces into a sphere surrounding the group as Enya attempts to teleport them out. It is successful, and in a flash they are outside the mines, and as they look behind them, they feel the immense explosion that erupts from the mines. After the smoke and dust settles, they realize that Chan is no longer with them.The party is embraced, arriving in Tradeshore as heroes, as Hanith Blackburn sent word of their heroic deeds. They are offered a reward to Zur Algud to celebrate the upcoming Festival of the Children, accommodations at the Ebon Wing Lodge, a 10g-a-day stipend, and access to the family's teleportation circles to travel to and from. We finish with the varying accounts of what the party did in the three weeks leading up to their travel for the festival. Till vardags är han samordnare för friluftsliv på Länsstyrelsen i Örebro län, och han har levt nära sjön ända sedan sin barndom.En som sannerligen har Hjälmaren som hembygd är Anna Vesper Gunnarsson, som är den sjuttonde generationen fiskare som hämtar sin utkomst ur sjön med ön Valen som utgångspunkt. Hon är så fästad vid sin hemmasjö att hon på sin bröllopsresa for till: Hjälmaren.Den största förändringen i sjöns historia skedde i slutet av 1800-talet, när landets största sjösänkning genom tiderna genomfördes här. Hjälmaren är en näringsrik sjö, med vassbälten och gös. The Serpent's Strait Ch. 10Let's set the scene, shall we? The group finalizes its plans for Operation Boom Stick. Chan, Thorak, and Valen are all laying out the trap for their "friend", but first they need to acquire a large amount of andrite. Ursus, Bob, and Dona have a different objective... using Bob's Mask of Many Faces and some bardic charm, he makes a spectacle of himself as the "true voice of Hastur." Before they leave, the Journeyman gives them some gifts for the road, one in particular was a tuning fork of disruption, a prototype that Chan holds on to. Thorak, disguised as Snorak, makes his way to a warehouse that stores andrite, serving as a distraction for Chan and Valen to sneak in and grab the andrite without anyone the wiser. If only it were that simple. With some jerry-rigged reverse lock picking, polymorphing, the tuning fork, and some giant's might, the team might manage to pull it off, albeit not nearly as smoothly as they'd hope to be.In the town, Bob is putting on a grand show of being the "voice of Hastur" with an unwilling Ursus in tow and given the most unflattering of names. They are certainly getting a lot of attention and are sure that the priest in town has caught wind of this imposter. Dona, who keeps watch as a lookout, slips away after and catches the tail end of "mass". Slipping into the shadows, she hears a language she doesn't recognize and continues deeper to get a better look at what's going on, only to see the priest kneeling and speaking in hushed tones. The team reconvenes at a bar and catches each other up on what transpired. Dona recalls what the priest said, despite not understanding the language, and Ursus confirms that it is Abyssal. It reveals a conversation between the priest and someone up north, warning about the group causing trouble. With that, final plans are made, and the pieces are set. We finish as the group notices a few onlookers glaring at the party, their faces tense. Ursus shouts, "WHO WANTS A ROUND OF DRINKS ON ME?!" This cuts some of the tension short of a handful of patrons who are still visibly glaring. Valen makes his way "drunkenly" towards them, using Bob's singing as a distraction to exploit Mindsplinter's ability to detect thoughts. The spell tells Valen that they were given orders to take the party out. Y mientras eso ocurre, la coherencia se vuelve inestable, porque queda sujeta a algo que por naturaleza no permanece.El problema no es tener días sin energía o sin claridad, es permitir que esos estados definan lo que haces o dejas de hacer. Cuando el ánimo gobierna, los compromisos se vuelven opcionales, las decisiones se diluyen y lo que se considera importante pierde consistencia. No porque haya cambiado su valor, sino porque ha cambiado la disposición para sostenerlo.La madurez no consiste en eliminar las emociones, sino en dejar de subordinarlas al criterio. Implica actuar desde una base más firme que el estado interno del momento, sostener una línea incluso cuando no resulta cómoda y reconocer que lo que se elige hacer no siempre coincide con lo que se tiene ganas de hacer. En ese punto, la disciplina deja de ser esfuerzo ocasional y se convierte en estructura.Con el tiempo, esta forma de operar redefine la relación con uno mismo. Ya no se depende del impulso para avanzar, ni de la motivación para cumplir. Se construye una continuidad que no se rompe con cada cambio emocional, y en esa continuidad aparece una estabilidad distinta: no la que se siente, sino la que se sostiene.Este episodio no trata de forzarse constantemente, trata de ordenar prioridades. Porque cuando los principios dejan de ser negociables, el ánimo pierde poder sobre la dirección. The Serpent's Strait Ch. 8We find the party all getting up and gathering their things after their long rest, filling each other in on what they've been seeing or hearing all night. It's decided that they should head to the mines and determine what happened to the people. As they head over towards the mines, Bob decides to take a quick detour on his own to do a little shopping. It takes a second for the group to notice, catch up with him, and decide it wouldn't hurt to stock up on supplies, unaware of any dangers that await them ahead. As the party arrives and begins venturing into the mines, the book grows warmer the deeper they go. As they explore more through a maze of stalagmites and rock formations, they come upon a large and disturbing scene. They are reminded of the gruesomeness described on the ship that crashed into port, and this is so much worse. The party steel themselves and decide whether to destroy the effigy or leave it and investigate further.Bob can translate the book, and Ursus begins to read the book, learning of the many names of The King in Yellow, particularly Hastor. At this point, Bob begins trying to take down the effigy, but isn't making so much as a dent. The group decides to feed the book to the altar and see if it triggers something, as the book has been vibrating more and more throughout their time there. Afterwards, when the group felt they had exhausted all the clues and information they'd gathered here, they decided their next course of action was to head to Midmount. As they decide on this, the group realizes they're being watched and finds itself surrounded by the watchers it has been encountering since its arrival, even though it doesn't recall all of them. When Valen uses Mindsplinter to cast Detect Thoughts, he hears many voices saying, "He waits." After a wave of psychic energy emits from around them, Valen and Chan are compelled to begin crying uncontrollably. The rest of the party, unaffected, bring them with them to try to lead them out of the mines.
