Larry Collmus, the longtime voice of the Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup on NBC, checks in on the heels of his assignment as the autumn announcer at Del Mar as well as his year-round appearances as a racing analyst on FanDuel TV. Paul Allen not only discusses his work at Canterbury Park but also some of his experiences as the play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Vikings, a job that won him praise as a “national treasure” from none other than LeBron James. Keith Nelson is familiar to racing fans in the Midwest as the caller at FanDuel Sportsbook and Racing, the track formerly known as Fairmount Park. The stories run the gamut from best calls to strangest announcing experiences and even to favorite movies from which they often recite familiar dialog. John Cherwa of the Los Angeles Times offers his perspective on the holiday season, comparing odd tales of what they have witnessed in all their years and miles of flying on commercial airlines. “Are there humble, ordinary gestures that the crucified and risen Jesus has used to show you the nature of God? Have you become distracted from the pattern of light by the dissatisfied ache for an epiphany? Jesus offers a profound reassurance and a further invitation to Philip, and to us, today: 'If you have seen me, you have seen the Father.'” Br. Keith Nelson beckons us toward Jesus and the long, slow work of conversion as we see, in his prismatic glory, the Light of God.

“When we approach the spiritual life with the care and attention it deserves, we will arrive at thresholds we cannot cross without our inner lives seeming to get worse rather than better: more painful, more exposed, less manageable in all the old ways we know. God is love, but love is powerful. Love is a crucible that dismantles the self we have cherished.” Br. Keith Nelson looks to scripture for examples of a profound truth of the spiritual life: we must go go into the darkness to find the freedom that waits on the other side.

In this episode of Coffee Talk, we're getting to know ECS team member Keith Nelson, AIA with our Mid-Atlantic Facilities Group. He will answer questions about building envelope consulting services, as well as share about a meaningful project he's worked on, and the value of these services. Some of Keith's key takeaways on building envelope consulting services: Building envelope helps increase energy efficiency A challenge of building envelope is that it goes unseen, but investing a little bit of money can help you long-term to save money and with the durability and indoor air quality of the building Building envelope services can touch any part of the lifecycle – from predesign, to construction to occupancy to ensure the building is being designed as it was planned Building Envelope Commissioning comes in the pre-design phase of a project. In the design phase, ECS comes along the design team to identify potential challenges and mitigating risks. In occupancy, ECS can help with comfort issues, or leaks or energy concerns. ECS can provide Building Envelope Commissioning as well as the services throughout that process as individual services. ECS has partners to provide the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing portion of the commissioning needs. ECS is serving as Building Envelope Commissioning (BECx) Provider for the National Air and Space Museum Revitalization in partnership with MBP serving as the Whole Building Commissioning (Cx) Provider. The NASM Revitalization project on the National Mall is a $650 million dollar endeavor to renew the building's exterior and mechanical systems with the transformation of all twenty-three exhibitions and presentation spaces over seven years.
