Send us a textDid you know that how you breathe on a daily basis can influence how your birth goes? Yes, your rib cage impacts your pelvic tension! On today's episode, we have Lindsay McCoy, a birth doula, exercise physiologist, and co-founder of the Body Ready Method. She explains how breath, mobility, and pelvic balance all come together to support a smoother, more efficient labor—and how a few simple daily practices in pregnancy can reduce the need for interventions in birth. She reminds us that our job is not to get stuck in our heads trying to “do it all right," and that "There's only room for one head in the pelvis, and that is your baby's!" You'll learn how to identify common imbalances, what to do when labor stalls, and how to avoid unnecessary interventions by proactively supporting your body in pregnancy. This conversation is for the woman who wants to feel confident, aligned, and body-aware—not obsessive. It's also essential listening for birth professionals who want to support laboring women with more precision and less guesswork. The "Flow, Balance, Space" framework is all about optimizing your labor for your best birth. Body Ready MethodBody Ready Method on InstagramWatch the full videos of all our episodes on YouTube!**********Our sponsors:Silverette Nursing Cups -- Soothe and heal sore nipples with 925 silver nursing cups.Postpartum Soothe -- Herbs and padsicles to heal and comfort.Needed -- Our favorite nutritional products for before, during, and after pregnancy. Today we are talking about stalling versus flow, in birth, and how your body's balance, and alignment can play a major role in that process. What does it even mean to be balanced and aligned? To have this conversation today with me on Yoga| Birth| Babies I have Lindsay McCoy.  Lindsay McCoy is an exercise physiologist, an experienced birth doula, and a childbirth educator of 12 years. She combines her knowledge of biomechanics and functional movement with her knowledge of the childbirth process to help prepare the body for birth. She has worked in a clinical setting as an Exercise Physiologist and now works exclusively with the prenatal/postnatal population in private practice. She is the co-founder of the Body Ready Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum, a biomechanics based exercise program. She is also the co-founder of Body Ready Method®, a training for birth professionals. She has trained over 1200 birth professionals and supported 10K+ pregnant families. Her specialty is pelvic biomechanics for pregnancy and childbirth and the core system + pelvic floor. Lindsay and I dive into baby's journey through the pelvis, the emotional state of birth flow, and the different levels of the pelvis. We will cover what you can do during labor to keep things flowing, and of course what you can do prenatally for a more efficient, supported birth. What can you do if labor seems to be, well, stuck? Most birthing people I know (including myself) want to move labor along! So how can we help that happen and avoid “stalled” labor?  On today's episode of Yoga| Birth| Babies doula and exercise physiologist Lindsey McCoy, gives us tools and tips to help balance the body, help baby find space, and to help baby move seamlessly through the pelvis so that labor doesn't stall. Lindsey shares things we can do prenatally to prepare our body for birth as well as tools that you can take into your labor. She also talks about common signs parents can see that birth is a little delayed and how we can start to make room for baby and to rebalance the body. This conversation is packed full of information that can give you confidence heading into your birth. Join me, Lindsay McCoy as I hit “record” and jam out on all things professional birth support. There is a revolution in birth support. While holding the space and offering sips of water and a cool cloth is really important, there's also so much more a doula can be doing! In this episode, I talk about the role of a doula and their impact on the client's birth experience, and what it really looks like to support birth physiology as a doula. I believe we can do more than just randomly using comfort measures. If a doula knows the biomechanics of labor and birth; the science of what to do when in labor and the “whys” of it, they can really make a difference in the client's birth experience! What do clients really need in a doula? Our job is to help the clients protect their space, help them find their voice and achieve the birth they want; and that not only means hands on labor support but also working with the client prenatally to prepare their body for labor so that they can have a smoother, uneventful birth. I also talk about the essential skills in professional birth support. With over a decade of being a doula and helping pregnant families achieve the birth they desire, I have seen it all! In this episode I wanted to share why this role is not “less than” but complimentary to the provider role and should be treated as such. Website: http://bodyreadymethod.comInstagram: http://instagram.com/onestrongmamaprenatalTik Tok: tiktok.com/@onestrongmamaprenatal

What's the best, fastest, safest way to feel at home in my body again? Who can I trust to guide me? Enter Lindsay McCoy.Lindsay is a busy mom of 4, dog owner, wife, birth doula, personal trainer, and co-founder of One Strong Mama, an online pre and post-natal exercise program.Lindsay has a classic story of having her first child only to realize there is so much wrong with the way women are prepared and set up for the birth of a child. She knew that the system was broken and she knew that she needed to change that.By her second child, she was able to prepare herself better for a much better experience. Lindsay understood that it wasn't realistic for a postpartum mom to go back to running 5+ miles a day, or back to CrossFit training just 6 weeks after birth. Between not knowing whether to rest or to exercise, our system sets us up for failure. Thus, Lindsay and her co-founder Lauren Ohayon created One Strong Mama.OSM is a very educational-based program that helps pre and postnatal women start small movements that will gradually lead them to their fitness goals, all in due time. She focuses on avoiding fear-based language and setting up the foundation of knowledge, so every woman can make the choice that fits their body and lifestyle needs.  Follow Lindsay to get her best tips and advice at:IG @onestrongmamaprenatalFB Group: One Strong Mama CommunityTo find her online pre & postnatal program go to her website at www.onestrongmama.comLindsay and Lauren also hav a podcast: One Strong Mama PodcastAnd, don't forget to join the Revolution and follow me, Annie, your host on:IG @fullbloomwellness603FB Group: The Postpartum RevolutionQuestions? Did you know that only about 1 in FIVE plastic bottles are ever recycled? And that it can take between 400 and 1,000 years to decompose. It’s actually estimated that humans are purchasing one million plastic bottles… PER MINUTE. Let that sink in. One million bottles PER MINUTE globally. And with 91% of those bottles never being recycled… that’s a lot of plastic that’s going to just end up in landfills, streams, creeks, and the ocean. I’m not trying to sound like some crazy tree hugger, but that’s a pretty alarming number. So what if each of us, made at least ONE simple, small change in 2018 to reduce the amount of plastic we are using and consuming? What if there was a company that was out there that could help you along the way? My guest this week is Lindsay McCoy, founder of Plaine Products, a clean and zero waste bath and body company! They’re doing so much to positively impact the environment and you will love hearing all about them… You can use the coupon code MOLLY for 20% off at checkout to give Plaine Products a try! About Lindsey: Lindsey McCoy has a master’s degree in nonprofit management and spent the last 10 years working on environmental education in the Bahamas, islands full of single-use plastic. She and her sister co-founded a company, Plaine Products, that offers shampoo, conditioner and body wash and lotion in aluminum bottles that can be returned, refilled and reused. She is currently on the Board of the Friends School of Wilmington and the Plastic Ocean Project.
