Today's Birth story was with one of our NBC mamas Kodi. Kodi is an amazing example of holding the delicate balance of holding on tight to what you can control and accepting and releaseing what you can't control. I have absolutely loved watching Kodi play with this balance throughout both of her pregnancies. Kodi started with NBC in her first pregnancy doing regular yoga and the Body Balance workshop with her husband Jack. She then continued to have an amazing birth starting off with an induction and progressing to a normal vaginal birth. Her second pregnancy Kodi practised yoga and pilates from 20 weeks and did the ‘How to Cope with Pain in Labour' workshop (A segment of our Appetence Active Birth Workshop) to ‘get her head back in the game' of coping with intense sensation. She then went ont o have a completely natural vaginal birth with no induction. I absolutely loved discussing the comparison of the 2 with her as this is such a rare experience and contrast to have. Holden began his career as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Southern California. There, he worked to keep the student-athletes as injury and pain-free as possible. He graduated with a BA in Psychology and a minor in pre-physical therapy from USC. After leaving USC he realized there was a major gap in the medical field. The most common course of treatment for muscular-skeletal injuries or pain was; drugs, injections, PT then surgery. Most of which would focus on the symptoms, not the root cause. Holden knew there was another option. He knew that if the root cause of the pain was discovered (using targeted manual therapy techniques to help return balance back to the body) it would lead to enormous increases in range of motion, reduction of localized and systemic pain and more consecutive pain-free days than other, more traditional treatments. With this focus in mind, Holden created the “MyoAlign Technique” This technique allows the practitioner to discover key fascial restrictions in the tissue and correct them, bringing balance back to the body and reducing pain. This week I have the privilege of interviewing a longtime friend and equine expert Ms. Toni Bucciero. Toni has spent many years practicing and developing the "art" of helping horses feel better. Whenever I get the slightest notion that my horses are not feeling 100% I give her a call and set up an appointment. She uses multiple techniques and methods of making adjustments to a horses body resulting in better mobility and comfort. I don't exactly know how she does this I call it "Magical"

In 2013, she graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Physical Education and became a CSEP Certified Personal Trainer. Growing up, Erin had always been involved in competitive sports and coaching, but it wasn't until she began studying health and wellness that she truly understood how important it is to live an active life. Fresh out of school she always had a full time job and also ran Fitness Bootcamps on the side. It wasn't until July of 2019 that she decided to go pedal to the medal and open up her own business, Embrace It Fitness. Erin struggled having gone through the physical changes of pregnancy and postpartum, which was really eye opening for her as a trainer. During this time, Erin became her heaviest and was not happy with the way she looked in anything but she didn't let that stop her from sharing her passion. She decided to become more knowledgeable and focus on specific demographics where she saw a void in the community. In this episode Justin talks about how lonely, bored and alone he felt for years after deciding that he needed to make significant changes in his life. He shares how he had a strict Christian upbringing and had little confidence growing up. When he moved and was looking to meet new people, he would go out to the casino and the bar. Once he started to grow his social circles and get attention, his confidence grew and he says he exploited this. His social circle grew quickly, he knew everyone, felt invincible and unstoppable. He would start to wake up from nights where he would get blackout drunk, as often as 4-5 nights a week. There was an event that took place one of these drunken nights that was the catalyst for a change. Justin needed to change his social circles and his habits so that he was able to reach the potential that deep down he knew that he had and had been wasting. He shares how he has turned his life around and how he is on a never ending journey to keep reaching even further potential.Justin Rille is a personal trainer of over 11 years who works out of his own training studio and has been online coaching nutrition and habit/mindset clients for over 15 years.
