The Superhero Show Show #374Zack Snyder's Justice League Bonus SupercutIt's all Zach Snyder's Justice League all the time!Over a four-week period, the Taste Buds covered Zack Snyder's Justice League sprinkled throughout all of the normal shows. But for some reason, so many of you asked for, nay, DEMANDED the Snyder Cut review segments in one easy-to-find place. Well, here you go weirdos, a very special ALL ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE episode of The Superhero Show Show!Cassie and the Boyz break down the four-hour+ opus into four obvious segments. First off, they tackle the first two chapters of Zack Snyder's Justice League! Not tremendous fans of the Whedon cut, the Taste Buds try to keep an open mind and an open heart for everything the lays the groundwork. Why the Mother Boxes are important, who wants them, and what have Bruce and Diana been up to!Then Taste Buds take on the second hour, aka chapters 3 and 4, of Zack Snyder's Justice League, which means we're meeting Ezra Miller's Flash, not to mention Darkseid! And Aquaman joins the team! And Cyborg is in the movie now! And something called the Anti-Life equation seems like it will matter, but won't! The Taste Buds mostly discuss if the second hour of the movie picks up after the disappointing first, and ask what will the League do against Pampelmouse DarkLeCroix?!In the third hour of Zack Snyder's Justice League aka, the hour where everything happens, thousands and thousands of parademons are killed or exploded, and we go into detail about each one! Well, maybe not that much detail, but a lot. Plus Superman returns! And then the episode wraps on what you've all been waiting for, the epilogue of Zack Snyder's Justice League! Lex Luthor! Deathstroke! Joker! Martian Manhunter! More Deathstroke, now with a mohawk! How many epilogues can one movie have? How can How did Snyder stick the landing for forty or so minutes after his movie ended? If you feel like ignoring everything we've had to say you can watch Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBOMax!Here's what HBOMax has to say the movie is about: "Determined to ensure Superman's sacrifice was not in vain, Batman and Wonder Woman recruit Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash to form an unprecedented league of heroes to save the planet from the catastrophic threat of Darkseid, Steppenwolf & DeSaad."Honestly, no idea who DeSaad is and we watched every freaking minute of this whole gosh darn passion project...it couldn't be the random hooded guy who acts as Darkseid's HR could it? Because to give him third billing in the villains is bananas. Lois Lane's hot coffee is higher on the list of threats to the Justice League than that guy. Don't forget to:Join our Patreon team! We've made it to part 4 of the Snyder Cut, "Change Machine", and Zack said we were processing the story too easily so he decided to make it a little harder. Turns out Steppenwolf didn't realize the planet where he's finding the Mother Boxes was the planet where the Mother Boxes are? What? And Cyborg and Aquaman had their character arcs offscreen. Good for them! Don't you hate understanding the characters in a movie? What a relief! Sam | Val | Gigalithic Twitter
It's time for the Age of Heroes to come again. In what was an unprecedented cyclone of fan outcry, visionary debate, consumer opportunity, and fraught creative conflicts... four years after the theatrical version of Justice League was released to the public, HBO Max delivered to us ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE.Zack Snyder's final vision, the conclusion of a trilogy of stories he began with 2013's Man of Steel, is massive in both runtime and vision. And while we at the Fear of God have certainly taken more than our share of jabs at the DCEU prior to now, we wanted to approach this cultural moment with open minds and open hearts, seeking to have an honest conversation about these films and where they take our imaginations.Joined by frequent guest and FoG staffer Ian Olson, we seek to unite the Mother Boxes in a discussion that walks down the road of nostalgia for DC films and stories at large, highlights some of our favorite elements of this new film, and grapples with what heroism truly means in the DC SnyderVerse. So, like Amazons before Steppenwolf, have no fear dear listeners, this is a fun and open-hearted conversation about the cultural titan that is Zack Snyder's vision and we hope you enjoy it!
For the first time ever Eric and Doug are joined in the virtual Bitcave by comic book cognoscente and DC aficionado Carl Lundeen to reflect on the recently released Zack Snyder cut of Justice League. Carl is the type of guy who can identify all of the ingenious inventions in the Mr. Miracle universe by the sound they make when transported through a boom tube so we really think you'll enjoy hearing him lead an in depth discussion of the film. Chances are you've already sat through all 4 hours of questionable soundtrack choices and slow motion action sequences, but if you haven't, there will be major spoilers throughout the cast.
On this episode of Why Watch That:SNEAK PEEKNobodyWebsite: Official SiteSynopsis: Sometimes the man you don't notice is the most dangerous of all. Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk stars as Hutch Mansell, an underestimated and overlooked dad and husband, taking life's indignities on the chin and never pushing back. A nobody. When two thieves break into his suburban home one night, Hutch declines to defend himself or his family, hoping to prevent serious violence. His teenage son, Blake (Gage Munroe), is disappointed in him and his wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen), seems to pull only further away. The aftermath of the incident strikes a match to Hutch's long-simmering rage, triggering dormant instincts and propelling him on a brutal path that will surface dark secrets and lethal skills. In a barrage of fists, gunfire and squealing tires, Hutch must save his family from a dangerous adversary (famed Russian actor Aleksey Serebryakov) — and ensure that he will never be underestimated as a nobody again. Nobody is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ilya Naishuller, from a script by Derek Kolstad, the narrative architect of the John Wick franchise, and co-stars legendary Emmy winner Christopher Lloyd as Hutch's father and multi-hyphenate musician-actor RZA as Hutch's brother, whose own hidden talents aid Hutch in his quest for vengeance.Release Date: In theaters Friday, March 26, 2021Directed by: Ilya NaishullerScreenplay by: Derek KolstadStarring: Bob Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, RZA, Aleksey Serebryakov, and Christopher LloydDistributor: Universal PicturesGenre: ThrillerRunning Time: 1 hour 32 minutesRated RFIRST LOOKZack Snyder’s Justice LeagueWebsite: HBO MaxSynopsis: Batman and Wonder Woman enlist a team capable of protecting the world from the impending threat of Steppenwolf and his Parademon army, who are scouring the universe for three hidden Mother Boxes that would enable Steppenwolf to transcend worlds, lay waste to all enemies, and restore his good standing with his master, Darkseid. Though most of Batman and Wonder Woman’s initial efforts are met with resistance, they ultimately recruit Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash. But in order to help preserve the future of mankind, first they must each overcome their own demons. After Steppenwolf secures two of the boxes buried deep within Themyscira and Atlantis, the superheroes are forced to take advantage of Cyborg’s unique connection to the one remaining. Harnessing the box’s capabilities to resurrect a final team member, they inadvertently provide Steppenwolf with an opportunity to obtain it – setting him up for imminent domination. When Jack Kirby returned to working for DC Comics in the 1970s, he introduced what would become known as the Fourth World concept. He created a science-fiction based mythology revolving around ancient space deities known as the New Gods. Similar to the gods of Earth lore, the New Gods were larger than life, possessing fantastic powers, which they used in a never-ending struggle between good and evil. Fourth World characters include Steppenwolf and Darkseid. Bruce Wayne / Batman Been Batman for 20 years – getting tired Feels guilty about Superman's death Uses guy's fear to lure a creature (find out later it's a Parademon) Need to recruitothers to fight invasion Comes up with plan to resurrect Superman; the world needs hope and the team needs more firepower What's his super power? Being rich; him being the only regular human is brought up throughout the film Gives Flash confidence to be a hero Relies heavily on Alfred Buys bank that took the Kent's farm Diana Prince / Wonder Woman Works in a museum; does the Wonder Woman thing when needed, but is not public about it Paris: Uses lasso to learn plan, stops bullets, tosses bomb in air, comes back, stops more bullets, saves day Themyscira: Steppenwolf invades, Hippolytagets Mother Box out, locks warriors in room, more fighting, but Steppenwolf gets box. Steppenwolf gets Mother Box. Mera tells Arthur that it's his job to get the box back since his mother is gone. Sense of humor; drinks; fights – has quadrant Scene on plane to final fight – accidentally sits on lasso, tells deep truths Cyborg/ Victor Stone Didn't ask to be saved Doesn't have full control of abilities; continuouslychanging Dad works at Star Labs; used the third Mother Boxto make him Cyborg Learns who Diana and Bruce are Able to "hack" into Bat vehicles and the Kryptoniandevice to resurrect Superman Vital to plot – he finds third Mother Box; he is able to split Mother Boxes apart The Flash/ Barry Allen Father in prison; lost; doesn't work in crime lab (not until "a friend" gets him an entry level position) Built his suit Thinks it's cool that The Batman wants him to join a team Decides to join because he needs friends; he doesn't "get" people Doubts he can be a hero - (Batman: just save one, Barry) Stumbles over his feet Funny and quippy (resurrect Superman: hope this isn't a Pet Cemetery situation) Scene in cemeterywith Cyborg: he was hit by lightning; says they are the "accidents" Superman/ Clark Kent Missed by world Mom loses farm; Lois lost Resurrection: Body dug up, body put in amnioticfluid in Kryptonian ship, Barry has to jump start the cube right as it hits the fluid Not happy about being brought back to life Fight: Team tries to talk him back, but Cyborg's system overreacts and attacks Superman.
