Here are our top three tips to help you get out of your own way:    1. Be Consistent and Build a Great Simple Plan:   We've all heard it before, but consistency is truly the key to success. This mantra applies more than ever in the MSP world. The marketplace can be unpredictable, and technology is perpetually evolving. Focusing on a well-structured plan, being consistent in your approach and staying accountable will set you on the right path. Remember, the beauty often lies in simplicity. You don't always need an elaborate strategy. Sometimes, all it takes is a clear, uncomplicated plan that you adhere to consistently. This combination not only ensures that you stay the course but also provides a clear vision for your team.    2. Be Purposeful and Deliberate Every Day:   Every day presents a fresh set of challenges. Some are foreseeable, while others catch us off guard. The trick is to be deliberate in your actions and to be prepared. Avoid the temptation of being reactive. Instead, take a proactive stance. This means being intentional with your daily goals and tasks, ensuring every step you take aligns with your overarching strategy. When we act with purpose, we're not merely responding to situations. We're strategically manoeuvring through them, always keeping the end goal in sight.    3. Build the Best Team That You Can Afford:   Your team is the backbone of your MSP business. Their skills, dedication, and passion can propel you forward or hold you back. That's why it's crucial to invest in building the best team your resources allow. Start by mapping out a skills matrix. Understand where each team member is now and where you need them to be in the future. Once you've got this in place, you can identify the training and support they need to get there. Unfortunately, the journey also sometimes means making tough calls. If you find yourself dealing with poor performers, it's essential to address the issue head-on. Either invest time in improving their performance or make the difficult decision to let them go. Negativity and toxicity have no place in a thriving MSP business and can impact the culture, morale and engagement of your wider team    In addition to these tips, I suggest tuning in to Matt Newton's story in Episode 150. As an Ex-7 figure MSP business owner, his journey emphasises the importance of connecting to your WHY, and it's a must-listen. Also, Episode 120 with Nigel Moore delves into the ever-important topic of mental health, shedding light on the barriers holding many back. It's a touching narrative that reminds us that it's okay not to be okay.    Before signing off, I'd like to extend an invitation. If anything we discussed today resonates with you and you feel you could use a hand or merely wish to chat, do reach out. The intention is not sales-driven but purely to support our MSP community. Whether that means connecting you with other industry giants like Richard Tubb, Paul Green, or Mark Copeman, or directing you to our MSP Growth Hub. The inspiration for this episode came from a recent event in our Growth Hub, where one of our accountability pods opened up about feeling overwhelmed by a series of changes in his business and personal life. Stuart's questioning in the pod helped him to share his feelings, which resonated with other members in the group, leading to a wave of support.    The message of this episode is that everyone in the IT channel and MSP business has been through these feelings of isolation and stress at some point. It's okay not to be okay. However, sitting in a darkened room, waiting for things to get better on their own is not the solution. In fact, it can make the situation worse.    So, how can you find support and overcome these feelings of isolation?    Find an Accountability Buddy: Seek out someone outside your immediate family who can listen to your problems, provide support, and hold you accountable. It's essential to have someone who can listen and give you a fresh perspective.  Join a Community: The IT channel and MSP channel have several communities that can provide support, advice, and a platform to connect with other business owners who share your experiences. Whether it's our Growth Hub, Tech Tribe, CompTIA, or other vendor groups, join a community where you can ask questions, share experiences, and learn from others.  Take Action: Once you've sought out support, it's essential to set a new direction for your business. Decide where you want to go, commit to a plan, and take action. Making mistakes is part of the process, so learn from them, reset, retest, and review as you move forward.  Enjoy Yourself: Remember, the ultimate goal is to have fun, make memories, and build a sustainable business that works for you.    I also encourage you to listen to Episode 120 of the IT Experts Podcast, where Nigel Moore from the Tech Tribe and I discuss "It's OK not to be OK." This episode ties in perfectly with the theme of this podcast and offers more advice on how to overcome feelings of isolation.    Finally, if you need to talk or want to have a chat, don't hesitate to reach out to me on LinkedIn. Send me a message, and let's have a conversation.    Remember, you are not alone. Many MSP business owners have been where you are, and there is support available to help you navigate through the challenges. Take action, seek support, and enjoy your business journey.    We encourage all of you to keep sending in your questions as we love to answer them on the Ask Stuart series. If you've never heard of Nigel Moore or The Tech Tribe, you're missing out. Nigel grew an MSP before successfully exiting and starting The Tech Tribe. The Tech Tribe now has 4,000+ active members and is an incredible resource for MSPs around the globe. I've always looked up to Nigel and what he's built and many key pieces of MSP Camp were built with influence from The Tech Tribe. Nigel wrote the book on packaging and pricing MSP services. It's an incredible and short read that provides a comprehensive answer to the questions I get often around packaging and pricing. In this episode, we dive deep into topics such as structured packages, termed agreements, gross margins, and recommendations for MSPs at multiple maturity levels. He also shares some incredible marketing feedback on the last portion of the show, so stick around! Guess what, we are welcoming the second month of 2023 with Tech Tribe's main man, Nigel Moore.   If you have been tuning in since last year of our IT Experts Podcast journey, you'd recall that Nigel and the Tech Tribe help connecting MSPs together with their trainings and resources.   As we kickstart this fun (the start is even hilarious already!) yet worthwhile conversation, I asked Nigel about the “why” did he start to take courage in setting up his business. With that, I also let him share his personal vision and asked how much of an importance is putting that vision in place.   More often than not, as things go around in our MSP journey or in our life, we tend to get overwhelmed. Moving along in this episode, I shared my views on this, especially on the importance of planning, as Nigel also talked about his journaling his life.  Wrapping up, we share some golden nuggets on how you should better face the overwhelming feelings you experience and why it's okay not to be okay.   I hope you enjoyed this episode, as much as myself and Nigel enjoyed recording this, and the whole IT Experts team enjoyed creating it.     Connect with Nigel Moore on Linked and see what he's up to by clicking here –   linkedin.com/in/nigelgmoore    Check out Tech Tribe and see what they're up to by clicking here - linkedin.com/in/nigelgmoore  Connect with me on LinkedIn and see what I'm up to by clicking here – linkedin.com/in/ianluckett  To join our amazing Facebook Group of over 300 MSPs where we are helping you Scale Up With Confidence, then click here – https://www.facebook.com/groups/738967166458742/     Until next time, look after yourself and I'll catch up with you soon!

This one's for those who want to listen again and for those who missed this special episode.  As a kickstart, I personally shared my corporate experience as a team member for six months. A memorable one, and mind you, I was just only 25 at the time. It is where I learned many things that started my career in Leadership.  Then, Stuart gave his insight about the importance of understanding how to approach growth and change in your MSP. As it is not all about revolution but evolution, the two tracks you should elevate in your business.   Here, we talked about our core philosophy and the very important 3 leadership pinnacles – Personal, Strategic, and Team Leadership Stuart emphasised the thing to let go in order to succeed in the journey.   In one of the highlights of this episode, we introduced our Scale with Confidence model (you can learn more about this if you join the group). Together with this, I emphasized how learning new things could really help develop ourselves as leaders. Stuart then talked about the fear zone and the importance of why and when you should do things within these zones.   We then discussed what good leadership looks like and how it could help you align yourself with your plan   By the end of the episode, we answered two questions that are about how to find and make time amidst all the busy stuff going on in your life and the other on how to get a team into taking ownership.  I hope you enjoyed this episode, as much as Stuart and I enjoyed recording this, and the whole IT Experts team enjoyed creating it. Nigel Moore is the Founder of The Tech Tribe, a growing community of MSP business owners from around the globe, with the mission to equip them to better run and grow their business and to avoid the millions of mistakes he made throughout his journey. Kicking off the episode, Nigel and I talk about how things are changing for the MSPs as he is seeing in the Tech Tribe community. Nigel briefly talks about Covid19 and Cybersecurity but from a business perspective, the change that he's seeing in the space over the five years of building the Tech Tribe community is that the model of the MSP is shifting far more drastically away from being just a helpdesk right across to security management, risk management, and technology adoption planning, among other things. According to Nigel, the really big shift that he's seeing over the last 4-5 years is that the MSP industry is really starting to more mature. The competition has become harder and tougher, and new MSPs have a lot to keep up with, and having MSP business growth coaches like myself and a community like Tech Tribe helps MSPs speed up that maturity. Nigel and I then discuss the great personality that MSPs have that is while being in an industry with a lot of competition, they care about each other because MSPs are just ‘helpers' in nature. Nigel also highlights that this is why he built the Tech Tribe community because he loves how MSPs are devoted to the community.  We then talk about the important things that most MSP owners should focus on and let go of the techy stuff. Nigel then talks about his experience on the topic and what he learned from it. I ask Nigel about the most common thing among MSPs that he has observed, and he says it's the struggle of how to get more leads that lies within the Marketing and Sales side of things. As we talk about Marketing, Nigel shares his experience and how he became good at it. We both agree that Marketing, including Sales, is a long game. But because we don't know how the game works, we are too scared to start. This is something that MSPs really struggle with, but Nigel and I both agree that it will be worth it, and things will get easier once you learn the basic MSP Marketing structure. Lastly, I ask Nigel the differences between MSPs from each continent and across the world, being the founder of the community that has thousands of MSPs from around the globe. Nigel jokes that he might be hated for his answer, but he thinks that the difference is nowhere near what most people believe they are. Most differences are in people's heads. Wrapping up the episode, I asked Nigel what the future looks like in the Tech Tribe community, and to know what they are, you have to listen to it yourself. In this episode of the IT Experts Podcast, we are joined by The Nigel Moore from Tech Tribe.   Previously, he built a 1.5M AU$ MSP business, and exited in 2016. And today, we are going to be talking about how perfect pricing works in your IT & MSP business.   We talked about the importance of confidence in building and growing your IT & MSP business. You need to know and trust yourself to do what you need to do; only then can you take your business to YOUR next level.  Nigel shared one of the mistakes of many IT & MSP business owners, and that is perfectionism, wanting to design the perfect system, however, he notes that there is nothing perfect, all you need to sell is a system that delivers good service to your clients while being profitable to you.   He adds that, especially when you are a starting IT & MSP company, you can start with a basic pricing model, the most important thing is that it works -- and you know and understand the pros and cons. Gradually, the model matures, the market matures, and so do you, as a business.  We also talked about the basics of what you need to know to get your pricing right.  I hope that this episode helps you have a better insight into MSP pricing and help you be more confident in you and your IT & MSP business.  To learn more about Nigels Tech Tribe, click here : - http://bit.ly/ITE-TRIBE   You can also connect with him on Linkedin @ https://www.linkedin.com/in/nigelgmoore/   You can access the other IT Experts Podcasts here –  https://innovatetosuccess.com/itega-podcast/      If you haven’t seen it yet, come and join our community in our own IT Experts App – you can check it out here –  https://bit.ly/ITE-COMM   If we’re not connected already, let’s connect on LinkedIn, YouTube and over our website at innovatetosuccess.com.   Alternatively, you can drop me an email at info@innovatetosuccess.com      Until next time, you look after yourself and I’ll catch up with you soon!

What I love is the the opportunity to disconnect from the business a little bit, really get back into family time and, really enjoy some policy time, not just with the people I love, but also in my own head, and to me that's the power of holidays. I talked about this back in episode two and about how important it is for us to have quality holiday time. At this time of year, it's a good reminder that actually, it's good for us to mentally disconnect from the day to day stuff in our business. Nigel always seems to have a fresh perspective and a knack for making teachings sound like something completely new so he’s made a huge impact on the wider MSP community in recent years. His knowledge and his confidence, however, have been hard won. Around 12-13 years ago he found himself the proud owner of a ‘half-baked’ (his words!) MSP. It was a real baptism by fire and Nigel had to very quickly find his feet in the business world if he wanted his MSP to grow. And like so many of us, he says he made a ‘bajillion’ mistakes along the way.

His views on playing abroad, college basketball (as we debate in Finland is this the only/right way to get into pro game), coaching, 3x3, facilities for basketball in Finland, how to transfer the culture from Susijengi support to Korisliiga support... and many more things. Second interview, (start at 49.50) Alex Murphy back with the Susijengi once again this summer. Talking through his last couple of seasons with the injuries he has had, playing for Finland, how he copes with being injured, fishing, spending time outside the sport, future (and no, he does not tell me where he will play next season :-) ) - and the thoughts of the three Murphy brothers playing for Susijengi.. OR!! playing in the same 3x3 team. First, let's get Alex to see 3x3 Finnish Finals in two weeks, to get the idea another step forward. Hope you enjoy this episode in English.. I sure enjoyed talking to the players.

I met him just over ten years ago and am happy to still be doing things together. Of course a person can only take so many trips across the ocean in a year, so we do most of our collaboration online. In this interview, we talk about our respective communities (The Tech Tribe for Nigel and Small Biz Thoughts Community for me). After that, we talk about several aspects of selling a business and the crazy valuations we’re seeing for MSP businesses in the U.S. At last we get to the topic we were scheduled to talk about: Building culture in your business. The rambling and spontaneous nature of this interview is exactly why I love working with Nigel. He’s super smart and talented. He’s one of those few “coaches” who can speak on any topic and give some great advice off the cuff.
