People suffering severe burns deal with the pain of healing and the resulting PTSD, sometimes for years. The Arizona Burn Foundation is there to support them and their families through the entire time, through recovery until they no longer identify as a victim, but as a human being of intrinsic value and worth. Rex Albright has been a nonprofit leader for 19 years for chambers of commerce, Dignity Health East Valley Foundation, and the Phoenix Symphony. But it’s in his current role as CEO of the Arizona Burn Foundation that he’s found his calling. The foundation provides assistance in three ways: Prevent: Providing and installation smoke alarms in high-risk homes, including specialized alarms for the deaf and hard of hearing; donating 2,400 smoke alarms to 25 fire departments for them to install where needed; reaching more than 50,000 children each year through the Milo & Moxie safety education program. Survive: Supporting new burn survivors with resources and client care services, including providing lodging for families outside the Phoenix area for emergencies, clinic visits, and procedures. Thrive: Providing life-changing social gatherings, holiday, parties and camps for survivors and their families, and therapy groups, peer support groups, and parent/caregiver support groups. Their services extend beyond the state’s boundaries. When a New Year’s fireworks explosion in Hawaii this year killed four people and badly injured nearly two dozen more, the Hawaii burn center was overwhelmed. Six of the survivors were flown 3,000 miles to the mainland on a military plane equipped with necessary medical facilities to Arizona for treatment. The Arizona Burn Foundation provided accommodations for 20 family members of the survivors. It was no doubt a bittersweet last weekend in Waupun, Wisconsin, at what could well be the final edition of the decades-running Waupun Truck-N-Show, where Overdrive News Editor Matt Cole was on hand talking to many among the owner-operators and other truckers in attendance: https://www.overdriveonline.com/overdrive-extra/article/15681420/final-waupun-trucknshow-kicks-off One such was Dane Wisniewski, owner of three-truck small fleet HDR, LLC, headquartered there in the state. Owner Wisniewski recalled fondly his time attending the show during every single one of his years in business from the time he started with just one truck. "I hope that somebody maybe takes it over," he said about prospects for the show to continue past this year, offering a challenge to those among his own younger generation of truck owners. "The younger generation such as I that's coming through the ranks needs to step up." This edition of Overdrive Radio podcast takes even more of the temperature among owners out at the Waupun show not only as it relates to the kind of wistfulness -- with a challenge to the next generation -- coming from owner-operator Wisniewski about the show's future prospects itself. August 22 is coming fast, and on that day we're hosting an online session geared toward exchanging ideas around building trucking business to weather the inevitable ups and downs of the business cycles: https://fusable.zoom.us/webinar/register/7917212359500/WN_DKU8Uka_QVyvEVqCSBdAjA#/registration Given that, Cole asked five owners you'll hear from today some of the same questions: What have they done in response to the current, long-ongoing freight slump? Is there any hope that this year's presidential election's conclusion might deliver certainty to the spenders out there such that freight might improve significantly in the years to come? In other words, is there a chance the prognosticators foreseeing growth in 2025, rather than full-blown economic recession, could be right, with the better political certainty delivering freight market improvements? Settle in for a lightning round on micro- and macro-trucking economics, as it were, from the point of an ag-heavy group of owner-operators at the Waupun show. We'll hear along the way from: **Brett Buske, hauling in a custom 379 that's part of his and his father's seven-truck small fleet. **Owner-operator Brian Bucenell, leased to Drake Hauling pulling a hopper. **The father and son small fleet of Dan and Daniel Linn, Linn Acres Farms out of Bucyros, Ohio. **Wisconsin-headquartered HDR small fleet and HDL brokerage owner Dan Wiesniewski, who showed a 2007 Kenworth W900L at Waupun. And finally, one Nate Stone, who shares at least one trait in common with our August 22-set panelist owner-operator ilya Denisenko in that he's started his owner-operator business at perhaps the most opportune of inopportune times, if that makes sense. That is, right at the bottom of the market. It's kind of like that old Frank Sinatra song about New York City. If you can make there, at the bottom, with profit to show for it ... well, you might be able to make it anywhere. Read more about the August 22 panel discussion set for 1 p.m. Central time: **https://www.overdriveonline.com/15680141 **https://www.overdriveonline.com/15681671 Register to attend live and/or catch the replay: https://fusable.zoom.us/webinar/register/7917212359500/WN_DKU8Uka_QVyvEVqCSBdAjA#/registration

Welcome to SEASON 3 of The Honest Mom Podcast! Today we talk about the difficult season of winter and getting a new outlook on this important and much needed season of our year. Our lives. I've done research and soul-searching to get out of my SAD that I've had every year because it affected me SO much. With being in the midwest, the winter season can feel like an eternity so I had to get my life back. On top of it, Brooklyn was born during a massive snowstorm in February 2013 and then we were trapped in our home and boring lives for the winter season. So I had to come to terms with the bad memories I had during that winter season. How I associated winter with that time when I was so depressed. This episode was also inspired by a yoga workshop I'm hosting at the studio I teach at. We'll be having a wonderful discussion about the purpose of winter and how to SLOW THE F DOWN to honor what this time is all about. To make it OK to find some stillness and not be GO-GO-GO all the damn time. We will be having a toasty and cozy Restorative Yoga practice in the salt room of the studio full of blankets, warm tea, and the permission to CHILL OUT. If you're local to Geneva, get on the waitlist for this event! Thank you for listening, sharing this episode and if you want to let me know what you like and don't like about this podcast- head over to Apple Podcasts or Spotify to leave me an honest review. We continue today with the fantastic conversation from last Thursday night with Rod Khleif and Kathy Fettke. The topic is “Don't Just Survive, Thrive.” We will conclude that conversation on this episode of Flipping America. Plus I have some news updates for you and a couple of great questions from you.
Over the past few weeks we have all become familiar with terms like “flattening the curve” and “self-quarantine.” These sudden additions to our lexicon are necessary in order to ensure survival. Our hearts and our sympathy go out to all who are suffering during this difficult time. The vast majority of us however can't help but wonder when will life get back to normal, what will “normal” look like, and how can our small businesses survive much more of this? On this call we will tap into the wisdom of two of America's most prolific real estate investors. They have seen good times come and go and come back again. Kathy and Rod would each tell you that most of their success came from a mindset they adopted when they started. Successful people are not always consciously aware of their unique mindset but thoughtful people who have endured the slings and arrows of entrepreneurship usually have some time to reflect on the collection of thoughts (mindset) that propels us forward. Tonight we are going to look beyond survival and focus on creating and managing thriving business in the days ahead. What you will DO both during and immediately after this crisis will be determined in large part by what you THINK right now. So how about a dose of some good things to THINK about? Let's get our brains to a good place so our businesses can follow.

In this week's minisode, I'm talking about how, as single women, we should be thriving, not just surviving. So many of us are weighed down by the societal narrative that appears to only celebrate couples; in addition, many of our negative thought patterns around being single and childless stem from beliefs that were chosen for us in childhood and beyond, rather than beliefs we chose for ourselves. The simple fact is that our happiness is not determined by our relationship status, and therefore we can experience the same amount of joy and contentment as any of our coupled counterparts. With these things in mind, plus the fact that our inbuilt freedom is something to take advantage of and relish, let's strive to thrive, not just survive. Gricelda Ocegueda is a film producer, mom, wife, first generation Mexican American, and a survivor of childhood sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Growing up in poverty, but determined to get out of it, she embraced her education and the teachers and mentors who came her way, many of whom noticed her gift for writing, art and producing at an early age when she created worlds where she was in control of the narrative and provided a much-needed outlet for the trauma she was dealing with in her domestic life. In 2017 she financed and produced her first major project, and from there, she has been passionately working towards furthering her producing credentials, starting a company called Frijoles Entertainment, giving back to others in need through volunteering with at-risk youth, and telling her personal story. She has gone on to produce ten (10) short films and we first met a few months ago while collaborating on a short film together. Tune in to hear her inspiring story, her plans for the future and how she not only survived, but thrived into the amazing woman, producer, mom, wife and mentor she is today. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/megan-morgan1/support

In this episode, I'll discuss five things that any empath should be aware of, particularly given the times we live in. I ask my clients would they rather be alone or be in a terrible relationship. It's not an easy question to answer, despite what may people may think. As empaths, we gravitate toward negative people who will make us feel bad ourselves. For many empaths, staying with a toxic person is preferable to being alone. It's all we know and can't fathom being all alone without this person. I discuss how people should earn your respect and do not have access to you all time. Why waste time on toxic people who won't ever change their ways when we only have a certain amount of time on this planet? It's going to be a good one! Don't miss it! Episode 12 of Paranormal Stories. This week the books are 'The Messengers: Owls, Synchronicity and the UFO Abductee' by Mike Clelland and 'Always Immortal: Uncovering Past Lives and Life After Death through Hypnotic Regression' By David RippyAs you may know I produce two podcasts, the past lives podcast and the Alien UFO Podcast and it is here that I combine the two. When I have a guests on my podcasts I read their books to research and work out questions for the episodes. When reading these books I always find such fascinating information which never makes it into the podcast and here I get a chance to give you a peek into the book.I did seek permission to record these extracts from the books and the authors kindly said yes.Mike Clelland's 2015 book, The Messengers, was met with high praise. In it he explores the mysterious connection between owls, synchronicities, and UFO abduction. It was his first-hand experiences with these elusive events that have been the foundation for his research. The book is also a personal memoir, and a journey of self discovery. The OwlsOwls seem to a play a shadowy role in the UFO contact experience. They also show up in relation to highly charged events like synchronicities, ancient archetypes, dreams, shamanic initiation, magic, psychedelic hallucination, spiritual transformation, and death. I explore the owl and its connection with these divergent ideas in The Messengers, my first book on UFOs. That book was also my own story of how owls played a role in my life. It was an exploration into the deeply personal questions that arose from my contact experiences. The process of creation was a journey of transformation, and I was a different person when the book was completed. The JourneyI've come to see the entirety of these experiences as both real and unreal. It's as if reality itself is acting as a metaphor, and it's happening for some profound reason. The reason is to wake me up, to make certain that I open my eyes. I'll also say that all these experiences, or maybe the intelligence behind them, have conspired to make me write these books. That's a bold thing to say, but that's how it feels. I have tried to let go and allow the deeper stories to emerge. Like sleeping under the stars on a desert night, this work has been an act of surrendering.Mike is also considered an expert in the skills of ultralight backpacking, and is the author and illustrator of a series of instructional books on advanced outdoor techniques. After 25 years living in the Rockies, he now lives in the Adirondacks. The Messengers: Owls, Synchronicity and the UFO AbducteeWithout question, this is a classic by one of the most exciting new authors in the UFO field today. After reading it, your view of reality will never be the same. The owl has held a place of reverence and mystique throughout history. And as strange as this might seem, owls are also showing up in conjunction with the UFO experience.Mike Clelland has collected a wealth of first-hand accounts in which owls manifest in the highly charged moments that surround alien contact. There is a strangeness to these accounts that defy simple explanations. This book explores implications that go far beyond what more conservative researchers would dare consider. But the owl connection encompasses more than the UFO experience. It also includes profound synchronicities, ancient archetypes, dreams, shamanistic experiences, personal transformation, and death. From the mythic legends of our ancient past to the first-hand accounts of the UFO abductee, owls are playing some vital role. This is also a deeply personal story. It is an odyssey of self-discovery as the author grapples with his own owl and UFO encounters. What plays out is a story of transformation with the owl at the heart of this journey.https://www.amazon.com/Messengers-Owls-Synchronicity-UFO-Abductee-ebook/dp/B08J8BSPTC/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=Stories from The Messengers: Accounts of Owls, UFOs and a Deeper RealityThis is a companion to the groundbreaking ideas that began with Mike Clelland's earlier book, The Messengers. It is a further exploration into the connection, both symbolic and literal, between owls and UFOs. There is a strangeness to these accounts that defies any simple explanation. Each chapter tells a deeply personal story where these mysterious experiences are explored in depth. The book reads like a collection of short stories. The ancient mythology of the owl is repeating itself within the modern UFO report. What plays out is a journey of transformation, with an owl at the heart of each story.https://www.amazon.com/Stories-Messengers-Accounts-Deeper-Reality-ebook/dp/B08GH6GL9Z/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=https://messengersthebooks.com/https://mikeclelland.com/This week I'm talking to David Rippy about his book 'Always Immortal: Uncovering Past Lives and Life After Death through Hypnotic Regression'.Few people know that the teachings of reincarnation were taken out of the Bible in 553 A.D.
