Even as he embarks on a grand adventure in India, Jonah is seduced by the siren song of U.S. punditry. After providing a brief recap of the resoundingly successful inaugural Dispatch Summit, he gives in to the uncontrollable urge to pontificate and punditrate. To mitigate his anti-malaria medication hallucinations, Jonah takes a break from the smog and samosas to discuss the deteriorating quality of the Trump cabinet nominations, the gross mischaracterization of neoconservatism, and the increasing corruption of morals and ideas on the right. Nimrod XV250 is based at the Yorkshire Air Museum in Elvington near York. She was dedicated by the Archbishop of York to stand as a permanent tribute to the 14 British servicemen killed in Afghanistan when Nimrod XV230 crashed near Kandahar in September 2006. Her team of volunteers keep her in a ground running condition to remember all Aircrew and Groundcrew who served on "The Kipper Fleet". Ken Bannister joins me today to talk about The Maid of Moray, his RAF career with the Nimrod and to help us better understand the Nimrods capabilities as an Anti-Submarine Warfare, Search and Rescue and surveillance platform. “Ethelbert” the orca somehow ended up stranded miles from the ocean in the Columbia Slough, much to the delight of most Portland residents. But it wasn't long before the city's would-be Nimrods came out and spoiled everything. Today I talked to Christopher Patterson about two books: the late Y-Dang Troeung's Landbridge [life in fragments] (Knopf Canada, 2023) and Christopher's own Nimrods: A Fake-Punk Self-Hurt Anti-Memoir (Duke UP, 2023), which was published under the name Kawika Guillermo. In Landbridge, Y-Dang Troeung meditates on her family's refugee history and the genocide that has marked the lives of millions of Cambodians like herself. She writes scathingly about how she and her family became the “faces” of Cambodian refugees in Canada, officially welcomed by then prime minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau, her 11-month old face plastered on newspapers as a sign of Canadian benevolence; her return trips to Phnom Penh with her mother and then with her partner Chris are filled with anguish and guilt but also love and friendship. Interspersed with memories of her childhood growing up in Canada – going out in the middle of the night to collect worms for money, enduring the racist attack of neighbors and schoolmates, staying up with her brothers to watch their beloved Montreal Canadiens – she talks about how her research into and deep knowledge about Cambodia is dismissed in academia. As much as it is a reflection on the past, Landbridge is also a missive to the future, a letter from a dying mother to her beloved child. Y-Dang's voice is powerful and raw, her words filled with joy, regret, anger, and love, sometimes within the space of a few sentences. I started reading this book and found that I could not put it down until I had finished it. Nimrods recounts a very different kind of Asian diasporic experience. Guillermo explores the pain of a childhood and adulthood marked by rigidly Christian dictates espoused by a father who was abusive and alcoholic. The alienation that he feels as a brown-skinned, biracial and bisexual person within his own family is echoed by the racism that he experiences living in the United States. His attempts to flee that past lead to a life of travel outside of the United States. Guillermo challenges the reader with a reading surface in which text and white space are in uneven relation to each other – words or letters fade in or out, the order in which you're supposed to read is unclear, images are interspersed with text – but the difficulty of the text and the difficult emotions that it depicts seemed to me to ultimately be a rumination on the nature of community and forgiveness. Heyyyooooooooo!! We're dipping back into our alter ego, The Nimrods Podcast, to talk some Green Day and cover the band's extremely cool 25th anniversary edition of 'Nimrod.'
Everyone is worried about the NFL playoffs right now, but the real sport of America takes place during Birkie Week on Main Street in Hayward, WI. "The Nimrods" are a group of elite individuals that came come together to form a giant ski super team before super teams were even a thing. Many have likened them to the Avengers and action figures are currently in the works. They have a movie coming out on February 17th at The Park and rumor has it that many A-list celebrities will be in town for the premier. I was lucky enough to take the Nimrods away (briefly) from their intense training in order to conduct this interview with them. Enjoy! #nimrodnation
In this week's study, I continue in Chapter 9; with verse 14. Here I will discuss the River Euphrates and the link to Nimrod of Genesis. In our last study we were covering verse 14 and looking at the phrase ‘Saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Loose the four angels which are bound at the river Euphrates."' We learned that The Euphrates was known as the great River, the River, the Flood. And that the four angels are demons, because nowhere in Scripture is there any record of holy angels being bound. But that certainly is the case for a variety of other demons as we read in 2 Peter two and as well as in Jude six. In fact, in Revelation chapter 20 verses one and two we read about an angel with the key to the abyss who will one day lay hold of the dragon, the serpent of old who is the devil and Satan and bind him for 1000 years. Furthermore, you must understand that holy angels have no need to be incarcerated to prevent them from doing something contrary to the will of Yahweh. This is the place where Satan first introduced sin, where rebellion first occurred, where the curse on creation was pronounced, and from the beginning this was a land of defiance against Yahweh. It was the land of Noah. It was the land of Nimrod and his wife Semiramis and the tower of Babel which spawned the counterfeit religious system of the mother and son fertility cult, god, goddess worship that branched out into the entire world even as we see remnants of it today in virtually all of the pagan religions Nimrods name is mentioned 4 times in Scripture; Gen. 10:8 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.(Don't forget that Cush was the son of Ham and Ham's father was Noah.) (Do you remember the sin of Ham? Gen 9:22-26)Gen. 10:9 He was a mighty hunter before Yahweh: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before Yahweh. Gen 10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 1Chron. 1:10 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be mighty upon the earth.Micah 5:6 And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders. In verse 8 there is something very interesting when read in the Hebrew, “'koosh' ‘yaw-lad' ‘eth' ‘nim-rode' ‘he' ‘khaw-lal' ‘haw-yaw' ‘ghib-bor' ‘eh-rets'”The word ‘eth' is made up with 2 Hebrew Letters the Aleph and TavAleph = the original pictograph for this letter is a picture of an ox head representing strength and power from the work performed by the animal. This pictograph also represents a chief or other leader. Tav = the Ancient picture is a type of "mark", probably of two sticks crossed to mark a place similar to the Egyptian hieroglyph of, a picture of two crossed sticks. This letter has the meanings of mark, sign or signature. Now when we combine these 2 letters we have a picture of ‘chief or leader' with some type of cross as a mark or sign. Can you think of anyone that may fit this ‘eth'? How about Yahshua Messiah who is our chief/leader and died on a cross at Calvary that when He died and resurrected to the Father giving us the opportunity to receive that mark of faith which protects us during the tribulation period! So what we have here in this verse 8 with the birth of Nimrod is the fact that Yahweh/Yahshua Messiah's hand was instrumentally in his birth. Did Yahweh know something that you and I don't?Have any questions? Feel free to email me at keitner@netzero.net

I had the pleasure of speaking to Nimrod Weis, one of the co-founders of the extremely creative, highly inventive and wonderfully playful studio ENESS. ENESS is an art and technology company who design evocative interactive experiences for public, commercial and cultural entities. The work that ENESS produces is able to hit that sweet spot of art that is able delight both a 6 year old and a 60 year old simultaneously, they are also masters of balancing art, commerce, technology and design. During our conversation we dive into the inception of the studio and how from day one Nimrod and his business partner have been reinvesting every spare dime and minute back into the work. We go through Nimrods creative routine and practices and uncover the correlation between a high performing athlete and an artist. It is really fabulous to hear the inner-workings and thoughts on process and the creative practice from Nimrod and we end up diving pretty deep into the psychology of creativity and curiosity. Join us as we uncover quantum physics, discover why the goal isn't to have no problems at all but rather to have more interesting problems and why nimrod sits on the floor. March 29, 2022--At last, Mendocino County's infection rate for Covid-19 is down to 5 per 100k, and this week saw a day at the Ukiah hospital with NO coronavirus cases. Despite the good news, the BA2 Variant is on the horizon, and Dr. Colfax advises listeners to keep up the common-sense covid protections like masking and testing. Treatments are increasingly available that contribute to the risk/benefit analysis for activities. With a discussion of Long Covid and a critical editorial at the end from a listener about Dr. Colfax's use of colorful language to describe anti-vaxers.

A super-sized, long and winding road awaits you this week at The Dinner Table! Moving is a transition, and we work through some of the transitions we're all going through while reflecting on the 'new' of the farm. The Curry Challenge continues with Crispy Curry Chicken Wings and Curry Fries which may have underwhelmed just because the kitchen is new and Joe's...well...transitioning into the new kitchen. We collected our chickens from the old house, lose one for a day, and then get a new rooster: Nimrod! Then it's rabbit holes all over the place with journeys into setting new energetic standards, posters on the wall, dress code inequality, wonderful memories of a dairy farm visit, collecting materials to build greenhouses, Joe's first visit to his new grocery store, and just about everything else.
