I skrivande stund har årets upplaga samlat in över 80 miljoner kronor. I Sverige deltog 617 registrerade förare, som tillsammans samlade in över 400.000 kronor. Årets DGR-insamling pågår till och med 2 juni. The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride grundades 2012 i Sydney, Australien, av Mark Hawwa. Sedan dess har över 500.000 motorcyklister i 121 länder deltagit i DGR-eventet, och i skrivande stund har över en halv miljard svenska kronor samlats in till ändamålet.I MCpodden delar Johan Ahlberg och Mikael Samuelsson med oss av tips från många års erfarenheter från motorcykelkörning. Zumindest die erste Frage hat BMW mittlerweile beantwortet, und doch ist das schöngeistige Thema „Retro“ komplexer, als die Motorräder es auf den ersten Blick vermuten lassen. Hemos visto por diversos medios que la marca alemana tiene preparada una nueva maxi trail con motor 1.300, pero mientras nos bombardea con nuevos modelos como la GS 1250 Ultimate Edition (una edición limitada y cargada de equipamiento), nuevas versiones de la NineT o de la R18... ¡Pero no nos cuenta nada de sus futuros modelos! En este nuevo episodio de Charlas de Redacción hablamos, además, de las pruebas que hemos realizado sobre dos Yamaha 125 por parte de Mariano Urdín, de curiosas motos chinas, una de ellas una clara imitación de la Honda Africa Twin, pero con un motor de 500, o de la prueba a fondo que hemos hecho del Zontes 350, un scooter que nos ha gustado realmente. Souvenez-vous. C'était le 7 août 2004. L'ancien troisième ligne du XV de France (46 sélections) tire à quatre reprises sur son épouse qui décède sur le coup. Un drame qui a brisé une famille et secoué durement le rugby français. Nous allons longuement évoquer ce drame, mais surtout cet ouvrage, qui fait une large place aux "vraies victimes" comme le dit Ludovic Ninet. Un livre qui remet en cause l'omerta du rugby qui régnait autour de cette affaire. Au programme également cette semaine, une ruade de Poulain consacrée à ces joueurs professionnels qui, en fin de carrière, décident de faire le bonheur de petit club amateur, en mettant leur talent à leur service. So here I am once more. Very excited to welcome Ninet Tayeb to the show this week. Ninet is an Israeli singer songwriter who shot to fame when she won the first series of “A Star Is Born”, a televised TV talent show in Israel. She became a celebrity fixation, with all the baggage and speculation that comes along with that. Her debut album “Barefoot” went platinum in a single day, but she felt that she wasn't being authentic and worked on finding her own identity as an artist. The transition was not easy. When she previewed material from her forthcoming second album at the televised Arab Festival, the reaction was brutal and she found herself getting heckled from an agitated crowd.   Undeterred she has continued to forge her own path, carving out a continued career in music and twice winning MTV's favourite Israeli artist award. Her most recent album 2017's Paper Parachute has distinct shades of PJ Harvey and the noisy grunge Ninet loved as a teenager. Ninet is also a frequent collaborator with UK prog-legend Steven Wilson. Although she doesn't self-identify as an actor, Ninet has various acting credits to her name, starring in a TV series based on her own life, and more recently the Netflix series “When Heroes Fly”. She apparently doesn't often give interviews these days. I was thrilled she was willing to talk to me for the show. Our conversation is deep at times, but it feels honest; I felt an unexpected kinship with Ninet, and I hope you enjoy it. My other guest is responsible for probably my favourite release of the year; the debut EP by Flight Mode. The band is led by Norwegian musician Sjur Lyseid. The EP is called “Tx. ‘98” and you'll hear how it was inspired by student exchange year Sjur spent in Texas as a 16 year old. We discuss truth vs fiction in songwriting, the pros and cons of nostalgia, and the future plans of the band. You'll hear some clips from the EP too. Make sure you go and check out the EP.
