This week Jim Norton takes a seat in The Wayback! (Check out his YouTube channel @NikkiandJimNYC). Ryan and Jim get nostalgic about the anxiety of sitting in the wayback as kids, harrowing amusement park rides, and some of the ridiculous safety campaigns from their youth like Mr. Yuk and McGruff the Crime Dog. Jim also recalls his distaste for family vacations in the outdoors, and the trials of cruising North Brunswick, New Jersey in a Ford Topaz. Also, don't miss Jim reminiscing about the notorious Frank's Chicken House of New Jersey, which definitely had nothing to do with chicken! We're covering two important struggles on different sides of the country. Grocery workers in Seattle, unionized with UFCW Local 3000, are taking on their “progressive” bosses at PCC Community Markets and fighting for exciting demands like a $25/hour starting wage and $35/hour after three years in their upcoming contract. Nurses in New Jersey at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, unionized with United Steelworkers' Local 4-200, have been on strike for more than two months and have faced attack after attack from the bosses and the courts, but they're not backing down. Hear from workers involved in both struggles and how they're fighting to win by building a rank-and-file campaign from the bottom up. At PCC, workers have encountered the resistance of top union leaders to their organizing efforts and demands. *Support the Robert Wood Johnson nurses by donating to their strike fund! Dr. Tailor is the Medical Director of the Eisenhower Sports Medicine Clinic in La Quinta. Dr. Tailor has always had a passion for medicine. “I have been long drawn to medicine given my thirst for complexity coupled with the ability to improve the lives of others.” Family medicine training initially allowed him to understand the field of medicine from a broad-based perspective. “I enjoy the personal satisfaction that establishing relationships with patients brings.” Sports medicine became a growing interest as Dr. Tailor participated in sports throughout his life and sustained a football injury requiring shoulder surgery while in college. “After my recovery I spent time shadowing my orthopedic surgeon. I came to the realization that I wanted to focus on musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions without having to perform surgery” comments Dr. Tailor. The Eisenhower Sports Medicine Clinic is a non-operative orthopedics clinic seeing patients with any musculoskeletal condition or injury—not just sports-related. “Sports Medicine is a fascinating subspecialty as it allows me to address injury and disease of the entire musculoskeletal system from acute injury to chronic processes such as osteoarthritis,” states Dr. Tailor. “Most of the advancements in medicine serve to reduce the need for surgical intervention; hence I saw the non-surgical aspects of Sports Medicine very appealing.” The Eisenhower Sports Medicine Clinic utilizes the most up to date diagnostic tools and evidence based treatment modalities to not only relieve discomfort, but to assist in the healing process for long term relief. More than just a game. That's the tagline Baseball Warehouse founder, Teamwork Unlimited Director, and Colorado Rockies scout Mike Garlatti has used since starting NJ's Autism Awareness Challenge back in 2008. It's grown from a Middlesex event to one that spans the entire state now, includes schools from 13 of 21 counties, 70 teams in total (40 baseball, 30 softball), and covers three days at North Brunswick Community Park. This year's event runs April 22-24 at NBCP and Garlatti drops by to discuss it with us - how the Challenge started, what's involved to raise Autism Awareness in NJ during the month of April - AND BEYOND - and explains some of the special events that will be taking place in North Brunswick. Great baseball - but more importantly, great teamwork joining together for a cause bigger than ourselves. WATCH - and learn how you can contribute - and learn about the special young lady the players will be swinging for.
Spine specialist, Dr. Joseph D'Angiolillo shares a story about a man who minimizes this condition, but discovers his pain is caused by an unusual spinal tumor. Dr. Joseph D'Angiolillo "My education didn't end when I became a chiropractor. It just began. Every year, I attend seminars and advanced training courses to stay up on the latest improvements in chiropractic techniques. And what I learn, I am able to put to immediate use in helping you get rid of your pain.” After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Joseph D'Angiolillo returned to his hometown, North Brunswick, and established the D'Angiolillo Chiropractic Center in 1985.
