“Green Onions” by Booker T & the MGs plays as Milner and Falfa race. Falfa's car rolls, almost killing him and Laurie. Steve arrives on the scene just in time to pledge to a hysterical Laurie that he'll never leave her. Pete Mummert of Indiana Jones Minute joins Tierney to talk about uncooperative stunt cars, Indiana University's own Booker T. Jones, flashlights, what happens to Falfa after his car explodes, and why Steve chooses to stay.Come hang out at Mel's Listeners' Drive In on Facebook and @vcrprivileges on Twitter and InstagramArtwork by Alex RobinsonMusic by Chris Frain

Curtis and Pete return to close out our night at the Xanadu roller disco. We’re skating and tapping and dancing the night away. It’s a medley of montages.
Curtis Bloes appearing on Next Scene Podcast Hey, everydody, this is your Better Off Dead co-host Curtis Bloes checking in to let you know that you can catch me this week as The Indiana Jones Minute's Pete Mummert and I join and Sean German along with the legendary Brian German at the Next Scene Podcast to discuss one of my favorite (yes, you heard that correctly) feel good movies of the early 80's... Xanadu. Pete and I do our very best to convince a very skeptical Sean and Brian that it is, indeed, a heck of a good movie (from a certain point of view). You can find that at https://nextscenepod.com
Pete Mummert and Curtis Bloes are calling in with their special request. But is this Xanadu a Xana-don’t?
Pete Mummert does not hold back on the hard-to-answer questions today. What did the leage mean to Dottie? Were we supposed to know Helen Haley was a doctor? How is adult Stillwell Angel handling all this? Why is Kit so late to the reunion? But, as you would expect from Indiana Jones Minute's carbonite fever dream expert, he also brings some great possible answers. Tune in to hear all this and more, including real players, reunions, and real players' reunions on screen. (Also, please note this is not actually the last episode. See you next week for the bottom of the 9th!)Music by Josh Kantor (@jtkantor on Twitter)Special thanks to Blake Reilly (@reilly21106 on Twitter)We're on social media under our parent podcast series @vcrprivileges. Character analysis! Credits! Controversy! And TWO final jokes! For the last minute of the film, this is a jam-packed episode. The gong and loudspeaker are united at last as guest Pete Mummert realizes this means Duke and Hawkeye are just living in Japan now. Enjoy the long goodbye talking about our final thoughts on Altman and Altman’s final thoughts on endings. Leave with the Jeep that brung ya!
Didn’t you ever go to Sunday School? Today Rene Auberjonois finds a prayer for a Jeep, Pete Mummert explains who is and isn’t going to Ethiopia, and we debate if any of these guys have been transformed by their experiences in the MASH. Being sad about the lack of goodbye between Duke and Margaret, we make it worse by imagining what that scene would have been like. Yikes. The only way to cheer ourselves up is to listen to the last movie announcement… and, hey, wait a minute! WE’VE been watching MASH!
Hawkeye, put a mask on! Donald Sutherland interrupts an operation to let Duke know they can go home, prompting a fantasy… or a flash forward… or what was an alternate ending. Megan is predictably cynical about Duke’s happy homecoming with his wife. Tierney predictably wishes she was excitedly leaping around on this tarmac too. And guest Pete Mummert is predictably worried about the dog running so close to the road. It’s all going to be okay (maybe) as we begin the last scene of the movie.

With Nux largely under control, Max notices that another War Party has appeared on the horizon. Furiosa recognizes them in an instant; The Bullet Farmer has come from the Bullet Farm. Nux delights in their arrival, but the Wives pull him back and confront his fanatical devotion to Immortan Joe, eventually throwing him from the War Rig. Hedley decides Lili is onto something. He is going to raise an army of the worst dregs the West has ever seen. He asks Taggart to take down a list. He wants: rustlers, cutthroats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, half-wits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, conmen, Indian agents, Mexican bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwackers, hornswagglers, horse thieves, bull dykes, train robbers, bank robbers, ass kickers, shit kickers and Methodists. Taggart finally finds a paper and pencil and asks, "Could you repeat that?" Our guests today are Tom Taylor and Pete Mummert. Tom Taylor is busier than he ever intended to be as co–host of The Indiana Jones Minute, Caddyshack Minute, The Blues Brothers Minute and ABCDEVO podcasts. If that weren't enough, he has also written a young (not-Frankenstein) adult novel, In Memory of Todd Woods. Pete Mummert is a co-host of the Indiana Jones Minute podcast, a show that the AV Club once hailed as “not nearly as tedious as a thing like this could potentially be.” He lives with his wife, two cats and a monstrous creature that he animated during an electrical storm last year. We open the episode with Taggart and his men doing their best to applaud The Waco Kid. We immediately cut to Lily von Shtupp's dressing room. She is tied to the pot-belly stove while Taggart and Hedley are deciding what to do next. Lily says Bart is too much of a man for Hedley. She says he will need an army to defeat Bart and begins to sing a song. He slaps her and begins to pace, Taggart by his side. Suddenly it dawns on him. He says, "Wait a minute, she said army." The episode begins with Taggart finishing his lament about seeing sheriff that's blacker than any indian. He then slumps forward on his horse, declaring he is depressed. Lyle leans over and says he hates to see him that way. He wonders if shooting the sheriff dead might help? Taggart believes it might. Lyle commands the men to draw their weapons but Jim warns them not to. Lyle dismisses the warning as an idle threat from a known alcoholic. As Lyle's countdown gets to three, Jim makes a sudden flinch and then every gun is shot out of the hands of the bad guys. The railroad workers cheer and Jim puts out his hands to receive multiple palm slaps. Bart then pulls out a gun, cocks it and tells the men not to just sit there looking stupid and grasping their wrists in pain. He says, "How 'bout a little applause for The Waco Kid?" We have come to the end of Young Frankenstein. As part of our final thoughts on the movie, we brought back several of our guest hosts to provide their closing thoughts as well. Walt and Alan take time to intro and outro each guest, while providing some insight and commentary on the season. After going through all the guests, Alan and Walt then spend time revealing the film they will do in season two. With franchises, it is easy to know the next movie. But, when using the body of work of a particular actor, the audience has no idea what to expect next. We think everyone will be anxious for the return of The Wilder Ride in early 2019. We need to thank the following folks who were able to join us in our final episode and for providing their thoughts on Young Frankenstein and our first season. Meeting so many extraordinary people has been a wonderful bonus to this Wilder ride! Our Returning Guests Matt “Madman” Gray never saw the film before and gave us several minutes of guest-hosting from a millennial's perspective. Tim Andrews and Jeff Leiboff have a podcast of their own called, Radio Labyrinth. Tim is also a daily voice heard on The Von Haessler Doctrine on WSB Radio in Atlanta. The guys had Alan and Walt on their podcast to help tease season one of The Wilder Ride. Barry King of B.K. on the Air has his own weekly radio show heard on WBHF Radio. B.K. along with co-host Commander Clark joined us for 10 episodes of The Wilder Ride, providing their trademark humor and knowledge of the MeTV generation to our inaugural season. Sean German hosts Five Mintues of Mime, co-hosts Spinal Tap Minute and co-hosts Groundhog Minute. Sean not only gave us fantastic analysis of the film, but also a full thesis on the three types of immortality. Tom Taylor is one of the hosts of the Indiana Jones Minute, reminded us Mel Brooks did a familiar mad scientist bit in The Muppet Movie! Tom is also part of The Movie Hole and ABCDevo and was the first of all three hosts of Indian Jones Minute to join us on The Wilder Ride. Doug Greenberg is the host of the Rocky Minute and was the only guest we kept over for a weekend sleepover. Doug helped us break down the scene with Harold, the blind man. Dave Dalessandro is host of the Seinfeld Minute and got the lucky draw of wrapping up the last two live-action minutes of the movie, Young Frankenstein. Pete Mummert is a co-host on the Indiana Jones Minute and provided the calm, cool, and collected intellectual voice during the single-most uncomfortable minute of the film. It's a Wrap! Even though our first film has concluded, you can still reach out to us anytime by going to our social media outlets or by using the contact form on our website. We are on Facebook, Twitterand Instagram. We hope you are enjoying being on this Wilder Ride! The Wilder Ride will return in 2019 with Season Two as we break down another Gene Wilder film, one glorious minute at a time. Check out this episode!
The minute continues with Elizabeth finishing her operatic joy in the embrace of the monster. We then cut to Inspector Kemp and the villagers continuing their search for the monster. We notice the Inspector points with the wrong arm and has his patch on the incorrect eye. In fact, his badge is on the wrong side of his uniform and even a villager is holding a rifle left-handed. It seems they had to reverse the film to make this scene work properly in terms of moving from right to left across the screen. We then return to the lair where the monster, seemingly no longer afraid of fire, has lit two cigarettes. He then gives one to Elizabeth. They are both quite content with each other. As Elizabeth cuddles up to the monster, asking a penny for his thoughts, he responds with a groan. She chastises him for being incorrigible and then admits seven is her lucky number. We end just as they are about to embrace again. Joining us for one last day as our guest on the Wilder Ride is Pete Mummert, one of the hosts on the hugely popular, Indiana Jones Minute. Once again, feel free to reach out to us anytime by going to our social media outlets or by using the contact form on our website. We are on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We hope you are enjoying being on this Wilder Ride!
We continue today with Elizabeth singing the chorus to the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Suddenly, Frankenstein's monster is peering in from her balcony, looking more like Bela Lugosi's Dracula than the monster. After a scream, we get multiple shots of the angry mob seeming to be going in every direction except toward the castle. In fact, it even appears they start at the castle, then head to a rickety bridge, before sneaking into the woods. It's like no one knows where to go in Transylvania. We end the minute with Elizabeth waking up in a secret lair, with two white streaks down her hair. The monster is leering over her. Joining us again today as our guest on the Wilder Ride is Pete Mummert, one of the hosts on the hugely popular, Indiana Jones Minute.
We continue with Elizabeth trying to keep Freddy under control. She realizes he need something to hold him at bay so she offers a kiss. Just as he is leaning in, she commands, "No tongues!" He pauses momentarily and then they kiss, but all the passion is gone. After kissing, he becomes somewhat passive-aggressive with her. He refuses to use his tongue at all, including answering her. His words come out as mumbles as he exits the room on his knees. We then discuss an interesting scene from the script with Inga, which is not the movie. We then close with the monster walking up the drive of the castle and Elizabeth singing a verse from the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Joining us again today as our guest on the Wilder Ride is Pete Mummert, one of the hosts on the hugely popular, Indiana Jones Minute.
We continue this minute with Freddy sitting on the floor like a lap dog. He is holding a mirror for Elizabeth. It is easy to see he is still worrying about his monster, but Elizabeth will hear none of it. Trying to take him mind off the situation at hand, she puts on a playful, but sexy voice about her room down the hall. Freddy wants her to stay with him. She will not let him, even when he tries to ravage her. She tells him he is a tough guy for making the tough decision to wait until the wedding night. Joining us today for the first time as our guest on the Wilder Ride is Pete Mummert, one of the hosts on the hugely popular, Indiana Jones Minute.
