In Season 1 of the Unconventional Threat-- one of our other podcasts produced in partnership with the non-partisan organization Keep Our Republic--we issued warnings last year that were unfortunately made into a reality on January 6, 2021, when Trump loyalists stormed the Capitol and attempted to overthrow the certified Presidential election results naming Joe Biden President. We now know, it served as a trial run for a nefarious plan to overthrow our democratic republic. The Future of our Nation Hangs in the Balance. And that is why we are sharing Episode 1 of Season 2 of Unconventional Threat as a bonus episode to The Asset listeners. In this episode, we document the efforts of those who seek to gain control of our government through illegal and unconstitutional methods. By working to install confederates in state, county and local offices in the midterm elections of 2022, a shadow network has created--and is currently executing--a plan to secure victory for their candidate in the 2024 Presidential election...by any means necessary. Please click here to subscribe to this important podcast. In the first episode of Season 2 of Unconventional Threat, hosts Jonathan Winer and Peter Eisner uncover efforts by extremists to gain control of our government through unconstitutional methods. With a focus on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Winer and Eisner reveal the unethical tactics being used across the country by forces opposed to fair and impartial elections in order to execute their strategies ofgerrymandering, voter suppression, and the installation of their loyalists in key election oversight roles.Their goal is to control the outcome of the 2024 Presidential Election. It is imperative that all people who value and cherish the democratic ideals of our country learn of this looming Unconventional Threat, and join patriotic Republicans, Democrats, and Independents at the local, county, and state level and take action to Keep Our Republic.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this very special episode of Unconventional Threat, Executive Producer Paul Woodhull joins hosts Jonathan Winer and Peter Eisner to discuss the ransacking of the Capitol Building by American terrorists. The discussion centers on Donald Trump's complicity in the insurrection that resulted in multiple deaths.
In this very special bonus episode of Unconventional Threat. hosts Jonathan Winer and Peter Eisner sit down with Senate Judiciary Committee member Sheldon Whitehouse. Sen. Whitehouse discusses the corrosive effects of Dark Money on the integrity of our elections, the effect of the tilt in the makeup of the Supreme Court, and the dangers of misinformation that is so prevalent in our culture today.
Donald Trump and his supporters have filed nearly a dozen lawsuits in state and federal courts since Election Day in an attempt to legitimize unproven claims of voting fraud. The time between now and Inauguration Day, the Interregnum, provides malicious forces opportunities to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power, which had been a hallmark of our democracy for over two centuries. In this episode, we will enumerate the unconventional threats that may be looming as we await the swearing of the 46th President of the United States, Joe Biden.
Experts and analysts on both sides of the election have predicted a protracted period of vote counting, civic turmoil, and protests in response to what may prove to be the biggest election in American History. With record numbers of early votes being cast, states are scrambling to assemble enough warm bodies to count them. The delay in getting the results of the Presidential election is expected to ignite a fire storm of protests and counter-protests across the country. The path to a peaceful outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election is a citizens firewall to protect the integrity of our democracy from the heat and smoke of partisan forces trying to sway the results in their favor.in this podcast, we convene a plenary of citizen activists who are committed to a safe and just outcome to the election, whoever is the lawful winner. You will hear from:The Executive Director of Defending Rights and Dissent Sue Udry,Director of the program on nonviolent action at the U.S. Institute of Peace Maria Stephan,Mourning into Unity's Amy Sommers and Mary Claude Foster, andThe voter protection organization Lawyers and Collars' the Rev. Jim Wallis
President Trump on mail-in ballots: “A whole big scam.” Vice-President Joe Biden on claims of voter fraud: “He’s trying to undermine the election.” Unless we see a massive victory by either one of the candidates, both campaigns have signaled they will fight for what they believe to be the right outcome. What Americans need to know is how this battle for ballots could create an unprecedented outcome with the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, being sworn in as President of the United States on Inauguration Day. How is that even possible? Republican and Democratic scholars and advisors lead us on a Constitutional journey from November 3rd to January 20th, pointing out the legal tripwires and dates certain that may likely determine our next President.
President Trump has a secret that is also held by Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and every President going all the way back to Eisenhower. In Washington DC, a city riddled with leaks where the main currency is the exchange of information, how is it possible this secret has been kept for 64 years? In this episode of Unconventional Threat, we are going to explore what we know---and what we don’t know---about PEADs, Presidential Emergency Action Documents.Few Americans know that a state of emergency allows the President to exercise powers contained in secret Presidential Emergency Action Documents. More troubling, even fewer leaders of our federal government--in all three branches-- know what authorities, documented in the PEAD’s, can be claimed by the President. The question to be answered is “How do we safeguard our electoral process in a state of emergency, when the President is wielding unknown - and potentially unprecedented - uses of Presidential powers?”
In this special SOTN episode, Rev. Jim Wallis joins Peter Eisner and Jonathan Winer, hosts of District Productive's Unconventional Threat, to discuss Lawyers and Collars, an initiative that seeks to ensure that everyone--including our most vulnerable citizens--is able to safely and effectively exercise their right to vote."Faith leaders have to put their moral authority on the line, and join with those who are willing to stand with them to protect the image of God in all of our citizens."To hear more episodes from the Unconventional Threat podcast click here: https://apple.co/3lE3AhzAnd follow the podcast on Twitter at @UncoThreat

As Election Day nears, Americans are facing extreme challenges in being able to cast their votes in the 2020 election. Voter suppression is in our history’s DNA and is the foundation upon which decades and centuries of systemic American racism and misogyny have been built. Now, in the 21st Century, we are seeing the manifestations of our shameful legacy play out once again in fulsome fashion during the 2020 presidential election.Voter intimidation and suppression are rooted in the founding of our country. In the 21st Century, opportunists are embracing the tactics of the past and overlaying them with the tools and technology of the present in order to cement their supremacy in the future. In this episode of Unconventional Threat, we expose and examine the bad actors who are undermining the democratic principles that we need to Keep Our Republic secure for future generations.

Mike Pence's drive for power, perhaps inspired by his belief that God might have big plans for him, explains why he shocked his allies by lending Christian credibility to a scandal-plagued candidate like Trump. We are in conversation with author Michael D'Antonio about the history of Mike Pence and his role in the Trump administration. Guest: Michael D'Antonio is a long time journalist and the author of numerous books, including The Truth About Trump. His latest book The Shadow President: The Truth about Mike Pence is co-authored with Peter Eisner. The post The Truth About Mike Pence appeared first on KPFA.
(9/12/18) Though his backstory is largely unknown, Vice President Mike Pence is often portrayed as the rational tactician, a mirror image to President Trump’s unrestrained id. But in his new book "The Shadow President: The Truth About Mike Pence,” co-written with Michael D'Antonio, Peter Eisner pushes back on this public perception and fleshes out the VP’s backstory with a riveting personal and political biography. A former political editor for the Washington Post, Peter joins host Jesse Lent for a closer look at exactly who Mike Pence is and what motivates him, on this week’s “TrumpWatch” on WBAI.

Little-known outside his home state until Donald Trump made him his running mate, Mike Pence—who proclaims himself a Christian first, a conservative second, and a Republican third—has long worn a carefully-constructed mask of Midwestern nice. Pence’s drive for power, perhaps inspired by his belief that God might have big plans for him, explains why he shocked his allies by lending Christian credibility to a scandal-plagued candidate like Trump. In their new book "The Shadow President: The Truth About Mike Pence," Pulitzer Prize-winner Michael D’Antonio and Emmy-nominated journalist Peter Eisner follow the path Pence followed from Catholic Democrat to conservative evangelical Republican. They reveal how he used his time as rightwing radio star to build connections with powerful donors; how he was a lackluster lawmaker in Congress but a prodigious fundraiser from the GOP’s billionaire benefactors; and how, once he locked in his views on the issues—anti-gay, pro-gun, anti-abortion, pro big-business—he became laser-focused on his own pursuit of power. In this episode of "Leonard Lopate at Large," Leonard examines the personal backstory of the Vice President with two experts on the subject.
Who is Mike Pence? It seems strange, but more than two years after he entered our national stage, how much do you feel you know about the Vice President? He’s a man of faith – we know that… but what exactly does it mean? He has acted as something of an economic libertarian – he’s a favorite of the Koch Brothers. But again, what does that mean – and how does it connect with his religious beliefs? And then there’s his treatment of Donald Trump – George Will notably called Pence a “sycophantic poodle.” And we all remember the Cabinet roundtable in 2017 where Pence, as the Washington Post noted, offered “one expression of gratitude or admiration every 12 seconds” over three minutes of “impromptu praise.” How do these strands – faith, economics, and his exceptional handling of Donald Trump – come together? Who, in fact, is Mike Pence? That’s what Michael D’Antonio and Peter Eisner cover in their new biography “The Shadow President: The Truth About Mike Pence.” It’s an extraordinary and revealing story, tracing Pence from his youth in Columbus, IN through his religious awakening and political climb. It’s also an important story – Pence, of course, is a heartbeat away. About my guests: Michael D'Antonio is an author, journalist, and CNN commentator. He shared the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting with a team of Newsday reporters and has written over a dozen books, including the 2015 biography The Truth About Trump. Peter Eisner has won national and international awards as a foreign correspondent, editor and reporter at The Washington Post, Newsday, and the Associated Press. He also was nominated for an Emmy in 2010 as a producer at PBS World Focus. As you’d expect from practiced storytellers, it was a terrific conversation.
The conquest of the Philippines in 1942 brought thousands of Americans under the control of the empire of Japan. While most of them were interned or imprisoned for the duration of the war, a remarkable few evaded capture and fought on against the Japanese. In MacArthur’s Spies: The Soldier, the Singer, and the Spymaster Who Defied the Japanese in World War II (Viking, 2017), Peter Eisner describes the efforts of three of them John Boone, Claire Phillips, and Chick Parsons to incite an insurgency against the Japanese occupation. Facing long odds, they risked their lives to undermine Japan’s control, with Claire’s Manila nightclub supplying resources and information to Boone in the nearby countryside and the intelligence passed on to Chick and other officers working towards America’s return to the Philippines. Their efforts in association with that of others provided American and Filipino guerrillas with much-needed material, and smuggled in food and supplies to thousands of prisoners of war the Japanese held on Luzon. As Eisner reveals, while their efforts aided America’s eventual reconquest of the islands, it came at personal cost to them as it did for so many others, who faced detention, torture, and even death for their actions. Peter Eisner, author of MacArthur's Spies, spoke at the MacArthur Memorial in May 2017. MacArthur's Spies tells the story of several people who resisted the Japanese occupation of the Philippines during World War II. Through espionage and sabotage, they helped pave the way for MacArthur's return to the Philippines in 1944.
