In this episode, we explore the scorn, pain, and suffering Jesus endured, and his ultimate sacrifice that demonstrated God's great love for humanity. He was silent to false accusations and chose to endure the suffering of injustice for the sake of the atonement. The innocent Savior died for the sin of the world. Further, we discuss the events following his death, the discovery of the empty tomb, and the spreading of rumors about his resurrection.Readings: Matthew 27:24-66, John 20:1-10Support the showRead along with us in the Bible Brief App!Support the show: Tap here to become a monthly supporter!Review the show: Tap here!Want to go deeper?...Download the Bible Brief App!iPhone: App Store LinkAndroid: Play Store LinkWebsite: biblebrief.orgInstagram: @biblelitTwitter: @bible_litFacebook: @biblelitEmail the Show: biblebrief@biblelit.orgThis episode primarily uses the ESV Bible translation, but may also use CSB, NASB, and NKJV.Search Tags: bible, beginner, bible verse, god, verse of the day, prayer, jesus, bible study, scripture, learn, bible introduction, introduction, intro to the bible, introduction to the bible, beginner bible, bible overview, how to read the bible, what is the bible about, bible story, bible stories, what is the bible, ...

In this episode, we delve into the parables of Jesus, exploring their profound meanings and their impact on our understanding of our spiritual condition. We focus on the Parable of the Sower, the Parable of the Weeds, the Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, and Jesus's encounter with the Rich Ruler. These narratives challenge us to self-reflect: What type of spiritual soil are we? Are we sons of the kingdom or sons of Satan? Are we self-righteous Pharisees or humble tax collectors? Through these parables, Jesus illuminates the true standard of perfection and the need for God's mercy.Readings: Matthew 13:1-53, Matthew 13:10-17Support the showRead along with us in the Bible Brief App!Support the show: Tap here to become a monthly supporter!Review the show: Tap here!Want to go deeper?...Download the Bible Brief App!iPhone: App Store LinkAndroid: Play Store LinkWebsite: biblebrief.orgInstagram: @biblelitTwitter: @bible_litFacebook: @biblelitEmail the Show: biblebrief@biblelit.orgThis episode primarily uses the ESV Bible translation, but may also use CSB, NASB, and NKJV.Search Tags: bible, beginner, bible verse, god, verse of the day, prayer, jesus, bible study, scripture, learn, bible introduction, introduction, intro to the bible, introduction to the bible, beginner bible, bible overview, how to read the bible, what is the bible about, bible story, bible stories, what is the bible, ...
We explore Jesus' famous Sermon on the Mount and its context within Jewish law and culture at the time. Jesus challenged the prevailing interpretations of the Law of Moses by the Pharisees, emphasizing the moral principles behind the laws and elevating them to a higher standard. Jesus' teachings were met with contrasting responses, with those of faith reacting positively and the self-righteous negatively. Jesus also demonstrates adherence to the Law, demonstrating his commitment to fulfill the Law.Readings: Matthew 5:1-48, Matthew 6:1-34, Matthew 7:1-29Support the showRead along with us in the Bible Brief App!Support the show: Tap here to become a monthly supporter!Review the show: Tap here!Want to go deeper?...Download the Bible Brief App!iPhone: App Store LinkAndroid: Play Store LinkWebsite: biblebrief.orgInstagram: @biblelitTwitter: @bible_litFacebook: @biblelitEmail the Show: biblebrief@biblelit.orgThis episode primarily uses the ESV Bible translation, but may also use CSB, NASB, and NKJV.Search Tags: bible, beginner, bible verse, god, verse of the day, prayer, jesus, bible study, scripture, learn, bible introduction, introduction, intro to the bible, introduction to the bible, beginner bible, bible overview, how to read the bible, what is the bible about, bible story, bible stories, what is the bible, ...

The words of Jesus are good! From the vista of the Sermon on the Mount, we can see Jesus' vision for a good society, built on the wholehearted faith of those who open their lives to God. As the floodwaters of our time rise, we're called to remain faithful and generous and committed to others, trusting that God will make that generosity possible. This sermon was a version preached at the 9am service, with a more informal rant about social media and the sermon on the mount preached at the 10.30 all age service. “It's OK to break free … as long as you don't break too free. It's OK to break free … as long as you don't make people with power and money too uncomfortable. It's OK to break free … as long as you stay respectable, don't rock that boat too much, don't challenge the purity cultures that divide and the etiquettes that bind. It's OK to break free … but keep it down, would you? That's the challenge. We want to break free … and we don't want to be crucified. And yet what we have just witnessed is that one so often leads to the other.” Sermon by Mike Kinman from worship at 10 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024 at All Saints Church, Pasadena. My name is Matthew Aaron Mournian. I am a Multidimensional Energy Healer and Intuitive Reader specializing in the clearing, balancing, and removal of negative energetic manifestations from the body. My current mission is to assist with healing the human body and our collective consciousness through the activation of the expanding multidimensional intuitive healing abilities that exist within each of us.My current practice follows a 3 part protocol of tarot/spirit guide consultation, elements of hypnotherapy and then direct transmission of multidimensional healing energy to release dead energy, blocked emotion, or a host of other physical, emotional, and energetic maladies from the body.In cases of implantation, entity/parasitic attachment, or other forms of negative energetic manifestation I also use an ancient Extra Terrestrial healing modality known as Scalar Toning to open and release the layers of the energy body on an unprecedented level. As a former addiction counselor and mental health professional my primary focus is on clearing the negative energy in our lives that block us from truly knowing ourselves and realizing our life's purpose. Whether it be through intuitive consultation, energy clearing, or implant removal it is my mission to assist with the liberation of mankind during this time of great awakening and expansion of human consciousness.Check out Matthew's website and youtube:
Love in a Time of Crisis Loving God and our neighbor can appear to be insufficient in a time of chaos, fear and death. “Surely," we tell ourselves, "we must do something more.” Yet it is by putting this teaching of Jesus into practice that we demonstrate our confidence in His redemptive Kingship. This is how the world will see our hope that God has not abandoned us even in our darkest hour. In Romans 12, Paul spells this out for us practically: Love must be sincere; hate what is evil, cling to what is good … as far as possible live in peace with everyone … overcome evil with good. 20231001 6PM JB Fasting What When and How Fasting: Laying Down an appetite of yours to increase your hunger for God. 3 Reasons in the bible: as Response, for Readiness or as Rhythm. Readings: Matthew 6:16-18, Isaiah 58:3-7 Fasting is an invitation to you to use your whole body to hunger for God. There are some practical steps to think about in considering taking up fasting. This can be complicated by by our “relationship with food.” There are practical issues for people with an eating disorder, or with conditions such as depression. 6 suggestions: 1. Start small. 2. Make a plan. Use your fast for a purpose e.g. as a Response, for Readiness, or Rhythm. (N.B. drink water!!). 3. Be aware how your fasting may impact others. 4. You may fast together with others, or may fast on your own. 5. Can fast from appetites other than food. e.g. music or podcasts, etc. 6. In fasting, turn your attention to Jesus. Focus on Jesus, rather than that from which you are abstaining. Speaker: John Batten.

‘Your Hands'This week, we want to focus in on the humanity of Jesus. We will use some words of a song to help us – a song that focuses on Jesus who was fully human, physically engaged with the community he came to live with and serve. How amazing that God would come himself, into his world, become one of us.
Welcome to our reflections on Encouragement. We want to start with reading a little part from the sermon on the mount. Matthew 5 vs 43 to 48“You have heard that it was said “Love your neighbour and hate your enemies” But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. If you do this you will be true children of your Father in heaven. He causes the sun to rise on good people and on evil people, and he sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong. If you love only the people who love you, you will get no reward. Even the tax collectors do that. And if you are nice only to your friends, you are no better than other people. Even those who don't know God are nice to their friends. So, you must be perfect, just as your father in heaven is perfect.”
Easter is a time in the Christian year for both quiet reflection and celebration. And the days and weeks after the first Easter event were a time when the first disciples grew in their awareness that Jesus had conquered death, vacated the tomb, and was, somehow, tangibly and at the same time intangibly present among them.
“Stay awake and see all the ways God is partnering with us in these nightmares. Don't sleep on God. Don't sleep on those through whom God works. Don't sleep on disability activists. Don't sleep on angry, sick and tired black women. Don't sleep on LGBTQIA folks who are never going back into those closets unless it's to pull out something fabulous for their next drag show. Don't sleep on children and teens creating the movements that will reform gun culture in America and move the needle on human made ecological carelessness and catastrophe. Don't sleep on the mama bears of trans children. And if you are awake, why don't you join us. There's a long day's work ahead and miles to go before we sleep.” Sermon by the Rev. Wil Gafney, PhD, from worship at 10:00 a.m. on the Palm Sunday, April 2, 2023 at All Saints Church, Pasadena. Readings: Matthew 21:1–11, and a Gospel Drama based on the Gospel according to Mark.
