Celo, koliko so stali njihovi prestopi v druge klube, skratka zapomnijo si številne podrobnosti.

Episode 42 - In this first episode of season 3, Heather speaks with Tetsu Yung, a well-known polyglot and multilingual father in the bi/multilingual parenting community. Tetsu himself grew up multilingual and is now raising his four children to speak five languages (Mandarin, Japanese, French, English and Spanish). We first talk about his journey learning languages and all the places it took him before focusing on his family and multilingual parenting. How does his family balance five languages? One method they use for one language in particular is having an au pair. Our discussion covers the joys, struggles, and complexities of multilingual parenting, and Tetsu gives us his best parenting tips. Make sure to check out Tetsu on all of his social media platforms. In addition to his website and YouTube channel, he hosts a language conference in Montreal called LangFest and has collaborated with Richard Simcott who hosts the Polyglot Conference. Benny and Shannon talk to renowned polyglot Richard Simcott about learning languages at university, raising a multilingual child, and finding motivation to learn languages through human connection.
It's a holiday podcast featuring Ian's Langfest friend Julian, who has lived and taught in South Korea and also travelled multiple times to Japan. Julian fills the guys in on the educational culture of Korea and contrasts it with Japan highlighting the role of English in each society. He offers a slough of resource recommendations and how to utilize them effectively. The guys touch on levels of dedication, learning lifestyle hacks and career potential for aspiring polyglots. Lastly there's a renewed spark for Cody and Ian's Korean War 2.0 which may potentially feature polyglot star Richard Simcott.
Richard Simcott is a "hyperpolyglot" who speaks over a dozen languages fluently and many dozen to various levels; a feat that led HarperCollins to name him one of Britain's most multilingual people. He is also the co-founder of the Polyglot Conference, an annual event that brings together polyglots, linguists, and lovers of language from all over the world (the event will be online this year from October 16 to 25, 2020). He returns to the Language Mastery Show six years after our first conversation to talk about how he juggles so many languages, the "minimum effective dose" required to move a language project forward, and how he chooses which languages to pursue. He is a fountain of language learning wisdom and I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I did!
In this Language Chat episode we chat about our experience of taking part in the inaugural Language Event - Melbourne held on 21-22 September 2019.It was a weekend filled with presentations on a range of language-related topics like raising a multilingual family (Richard Simcott), language reclamation and revival (Professor Ghil'ad Zuckermann), how the voice works and using it in different languages (Sarah Lobegeiger de Rodriguez, Voice Science), and how to have immersion language experiences locally rather than travelling abroad (our own Rebecca Howie), while also providing an amazing opportunity for a bunch of language lovers to meet, hang out and chat.Bec interviewed Richard Simcott who is the convenor of this event and the annual Polyglot Conference, plus some of the other attendees at the event. We’ve included these in segments in our chat.Enjoy!

Richard is amazing! He is definitely in the top 10% of episodes and guests. He is back on the show after a few years and many times that we had met in person. He runs the Polyglot conferences where language nerds can get together and speak the languages they have learned. The last one was in Greece in October 2016 and the next one will be in Iceland in 2017. In this episode, we talk less about learning the languages and talk more about the philosophy behind it. We also discuss why it is that we learn languages and useful versus ornamental skills. We then talk about travel and what we can learn from it.

Richard Simcott has studied languages for over 30 years and has a 16-language video on YouTube although he speaks over 30 languages. He has run the SpeakingFluently blog since 2011 back when the polyglot community was still new. He has been consulted for articles in The Times and Forbes on language learning and was also described as one of the most multilingual people from The United Kingdom by HarperCollins. He is considered to be one of the biggest players in the polyglot community. We talk about the upcoming Polyglot workshop which he will be hosting in Berlin at the end of March. There he helps facilitate language learning and give specific tips to individuals and their sticking points. Although he says most language learning questions are similar, he also says that it can still be reassuring to receive personal advice. Finally he talks about designing your life around language learning and how he speaks 5 languages during daily activities.
Richard Simcott is an accomplished British hyperpolyglot based in Skopje, North Macedonia. He has actively studied more than 50 languages to date, and works in 14 of them on a regular basis! His impressive linguistic feats have led HarperCollins to call him “one of the most multilingual people from The United Kingdom.” In our conversation, he shares how he got into languages, how he learns and maintains so many, and what you can do to learn one (or many!) foreign languages yourself.
