My guest tonight is Maxine Albright, the author of "Relationships In A Nutshell -- A Book for Guys" is from England and grew up in Denmark.  The mother of four boys, she wrote this book because she wants to teach boys the importance of sexual education.  She writes, "Guys seem to give up with girls or relationships if they have 'too troublesome' relationships with girls. They can't be bothered with the hassle they think girls create.  I've written this book to give an all-round understanding to guys.  I'm hoping this book will give guys a head-start so they find happiness and contentment together with their chosen partner!"  Stepping into the adult world of sexual attraction can be difficult for both men and women, but with careful advice and guidance it can be navigated, leading to fulfilling romance and sex for those with the confidence to go out and meet people. This book will hopefully help you along the way to understanding the female mind, and is full of relationship advice and guidance for young men and the women they want to charm.  Including chapters on how to communicate, and a comprehensive sex guide to help you and your partner get the most out of your sexual encounters, 'In A Nutshell' delivers the lowdown on sexual attraction in the adult world. You can learn about Maxine and this book at http://in-a-nutshell.me/index.html.   Ebook:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YQGKZK4

It's the night before the final primaries for 2016, and I thought it would be great fun to speak with "The Singing Hillary Clinton," Kelley Karel.  Kelley has a versatile background in film, stage, opera, musical theater, comedy improv, cabaret and Off-Broadway. Recently, she starred in Cloudy Sky Film's web series, Sherry's Kitchen, at www.youtube.com/sherryskitchen playing multiple lead roles including Hillary Clinton and just finished the starring role of Christine in the feature film, Snow. Next up in my Cabaret Performers Series is Sally Darling.  Sally Darling's background in theater and related areas is rich and varied:  actress, director, coach, narrator, cabaret performer.  Her first professional role as an actress was 'Anna' in "The King and I" with Leonard Graves.  (As Yul Brynner’s understudy, Graves played the King over a thousand times on Broadway.)  She has since performed with Barry Manilow, James MacArthur, David Carradine, Katharine Houghton, Sarah Rice, Hal Linden......  She has staged operas, narrated with symphony orchestras, and directed everything from Thurber to Shakespeare.  In the 70s she created and staged three revues of the music of Noël Coward and Cole Porter, then created a fourth for the Theater Guild which she tailored for Patricia Morrison, Larry Kert, Dick Shawn and Tony Tanner.   As a narrator for The Talking Book program of The Library of Congress and for Recorded Books, Sally has over 250 fiction and non-fiction books on tape, including "To Kill a Mockingbird" for Recorded Books, for which she was chosen over more than 100 applicants.  She has won awards for her compelling voice and her unmatched interpretive skills. Sally returns to Don't Tell Mama with “Perspectives”, the latest in her acclaimed signature series of themed programs.  She will be accompanied as usual by her Musical Director, the extraordinary Matthew Martin Ward.  The series began with "Choices", then it examined "The Way We Are" before exploring "Matters of the Heart".  In "Perspectives" she invites us through songs and text to be aware of how we see things, how each of us has a particular, individual point of view which determines what we receive. Next up in my series of conversations with cabaret and pop musicians is Gretchen Reinhagen. Gretchen is a multi-award winning artist, receiving the coveted TRIPLE CROWN of cabaret awards in 2010: the Nightlife Award, Bistro Award and MAC Award - for her show “Special Kaye: A Tribute to the Incomparable Kaye Ballard” directed by Barry Kleinbort, with Musical Director David Gaines. Gretchen has worked with some of the biggest names in cabaret including Steve Ross and Karen Mason. Her shows cover a broad range of material from Musical Comedy to Blues and Rock. Former Back Stage and Citysearch critic Roy Sander said, “Gretchen Reinhagen's shows are marked by intelligence, warmth, a lovely spirit of benevolence, and fine vocals. It is always a pleasure to spend an hour in her company.” As both a singer and an actress, she's performed in a broad range of theaters and concert halls from the House of Blues in New Orleans to the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her professional theater credits include Janis Joplin in Beehive, Louise Segar in Always Patsy Cline, Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the lead role of the therapist in the premiere of Mother Me Therapy at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York, and the Queen Mother in the European premiere of Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland. At her recent show at the Metropolitan Room in Manhattan, I was struck by her ability to take on songs that are so strongly identified with other performers -- singing a "Streisand song" or a "Fanny Bryce" song, for example -- and show them from an altogether different perspective.  We'll talk about her inspirations for her art, how she approaches a lyric, and get some insight into the world of cabaret.  Learn more about Gretchen at www.gretchenreinhagen.com.

After five years of treatment by some of the best pediatric hepatologists in New York City, the doctors told Courtney’s mom, “The meds aren’t working.” The next step for 12-year-old Courtney was a leukemia-type drug and a possible liver transplant. Frustrated and angry that the doctors had stolen Courtney’s childhood with their standard protocol that failed and the side-effects of high doses of prednisone which made little Courtney overweight and excessively hairy, Denise Otten took it upon herself to find an alternative treatment. Thanks to scientifically proven nutraceuticals and vitamins, plus a baseball autographed by Yankees star Derek Jeter, Courtney went into remission in a matter of months and is now a slim, beautiful, teenage athlete. In addition to her financial planning work and out of gratitude for her daughter’s recovery, she created a children’s foundation which donates to children’s group homes and hospitals. A wife and the mother of three, she shares her passion for alternative and holistic remedies and the science that validates them. She wrote Curing Courtney in the hope that the book will empower readers to take nutritional control of their health and learn about alternative modalities that go beyond the standard medical treatments. [Thihs show was broadcast live during Hurricane Sandy, with Peter living in Times Square, on the borderline of the power outage.  A true man of his word, he did the show.] Tonight I chat with the amazing PR and social media maven Peter Shankman (@petershankman), who simply has the Midas touch: a little Facebook group he started called "Help A Reporter Out" - better known as HARO -- in barely a year became a huge company that he sold for a substantial sum, and then became named Vice President. When Peter tweets, people pay attention, as Morton Steaks did when Peter jokingly tweeted a wish for Morton's to greet him at the airport with a steak... and they did!  A little bio: Peter Shankman blames ADHD for most of his success. A serial entrepreneur, Peter is best known for founding Help A Reporter Out (HARO), the social media website that redefined how journalism and PR works by connecting millions of sources with hundreds of thousands of journalists around the world each day, for free. HARO was acquired by Vocus in 2010. Peter sits on the advisory board of NASA, is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Dell, and is a successful angel investor with multiple start-up companies in his portfolio. 2011 marked his entry into Hollywood, when he became Executive Producer on Right Next Door, a new film premiering soon. When he's not spending 90% of his time running through airports to catch a connecting flight, Peter is based in Times Square, New York. Learn more about Peter at www.petershankman.com and follow him on Twitter @petershankman. Have you ever seen someone perform and thought, "This guy is going to be a household name one day!"  That was what I thought when I saw Drew Gasparini's tour de force show, "Crazy Just Like Me" at a community theater in Marin County in California.  A songwriter of many genres, this quadruple-threat marvel wrote an outstanding musical score, co-wrote the book, and acted and sung in the lead role.  I've seen him three times at Joe's Pub in Manhattan, where he's brought on more performers in a night than you've seen in a year, who bring his many songs to life.  He plays piano and guitar like it's nobody's business, and his gorgeous little sisters and his mom are about as talented as he is.
