It's a haunting question. After all, Jesus says we are the salt of the earth, and as such, we are to help preserve our world from the natural decay that comes when fallen human nature goes unchecked. If we are living up to our "salt" identity, it seems unbelievers would act differently around us than they would if they were with other non-Christians. The New Testament, from the Gospels to Revelation, proclaim Jesus to be the "lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." But how do the Reformed and the Arminians process the effective nature of Jesus' atoning death? I explore the logic of each divergent camp's theology. What does John Piper teach? What did John Calvin teach? What interesting thing do the Arminians teach about Christ's atonement and infants? Also, because the Lordship of Christ does not stop at the boundary of culture, I unpack still more about what is going on between men and women. There are measurable demographic studies that show important trends at work both in the United States and in Europe. Come laugh and think with me!

Jesus has just given a good list of what kind of people his followers are supposed to be like. Or at least the standard they are to work toward. He was describing people and now he is beginning to share the impact those kind of people can have. People who are poor in spirit, humble, meek, mourn what God mourns, hunger and thirst for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, make peace are sure to be a little different than the crowd. If you are living into those beatitudes, you will definitely stand out. That is being salty and bright. It is being set apart. The cool thing about being set apart is that it is a lifelong process. Salvation takes but a moment, but sanctification lasts a lifetime. It is a daily practice of being washed by the Word of God and letting Holy Spirit work in us to progressively mature in our faith. In a world of pain, polarization, and political struggles, a remnant waited for salvation. A promise had been given to restore, heal, and deliver, yet the poor, the captive, and the oppressed had been anticipating their day of freedom with no hope on the horizon. When suddenly royalty in swaddling cloths appeared and light shone upon the darkness and divide. A King had come, proclaiming a new way of Good News, freedom for prisoners, and Jubilee to all. And this King's proclamation still rings today, His prophetic movement is alive and well, and this Good News is for all people. Come join us as we start our new conversation in Luke: A King for All.

On today's Bible Answer Man broadcast (10/07/22), Hank answers the following questions:During the Tribulation, will any Christians take the mark of the beast, and how will Satan try to deceive us?I have been debating some atheists online; how do I respond to the accusation that I believe in something false just because it gives me hope and comfort? When Jesus spoke about the salt losing its saltiness and the light being dimmed, is this a reflection of losing our testimony? Why are there other religions besides Christianity? When John said he saw a new heaven in the book of Revelation, is that a judgment on the heavens?
September 4, 2022 - Losing Saltiness - Pastor Bob by Community Lutheran Church
Jesus calls His followers the salt of the earth and the light of the world. What does this mean for us and what should we be warned about? Christ's Implication...against the World: The World is Decaying and Dark Christ's Solution...for the World: The Church is Salt and Light Christ's Warning...for the Church: Don't lose your Saltiness or Hide your Light You can watch the message here.

Matthew 5:13-1613 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Context The meaning of the Salt of the earth Luke 14:34-3534 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out. Growth vs. Inhibition Three Implications 1. Quantity 2. Distribution 3. Quality

"AskJesus asks 307 questions in the gospels. He was asked 183, and he only answered only 3 of them. He asked questions like: What do you want me to do for you? What are you looking for? When did you begin to lose your faith? If we are going to learn to share the Good News of the Gospel, we have to be people who learn to ask good questions, answer fewer questions, and to create curiosity about God. "
Pelar Esshaki guest hosts the Salty Catholic and discusses his Saltiness towards husbands and fathers in today's society. As a father to 11 children (eleven....not a typo), Pelar discusses the importance of being a strong husband and father that is grounded in faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He does not hold back when sharing his own personal failures in fulfilling his duties as husband and father in hopes that his personal testimony can guide and motivate men to not make the same mistakes he did. If you are a man who doesn't feel fulfilled in your role at home or a wife who looking for a man's first person perspective on the struggles of being a father, hopefully this episode can be a starting point to make that change in your life.
