Investigators are now telling us it could take 24 moths to find answers surrounding one of the worst maritime crashes in American History.  This as we learn an elite Coast Guard team is inspecting 13 Centers for Disease Control containers that were on board labeled with the warning "Hazardous Materials."  This raises all kinds of questions.  Why is the CDC sending Haz-Mat containers to Sir Lanka?  That is where the Dali was headed when it left the Port of Baltimore before crashing into the Scott Key Francis Bridge. Our guest Kat Dwyer joins to talk about some examples of how market innovation is brining some creative solutions to environmental problems, and how conservation can benefit from public-private partnerships. Also, Kat goes into detail about how many of the issues raised by newer environmental concerns at their core are really new takes on very old, fundamental issues in America like property rights, land usage, water rights, and government interest versus private holdings. Situated on the western coast of the Red Sea in antiquity were a series of thriving seaports, bringing in trade from as far as way as Sir Lanka. Key mercantile centres, where goods made in Iberia could theoretically have been sold alongside items crafted thousands of miles to the east, in South East Asia. Of these seaports, one of the most remarkable has to be Berenike, a thriving cosmopolitan trading centre, first for the Hellenistic Ptolemaic Kingdom and later for Imperial Rome.To talk through the site's extraordinary archaeology we were delighted to be joined by Professor Steven Sidebotham from the University of Deleware. Steve has been leading excavations at the site for several years and in this podcast he highlights why Berenike is one of the most exciting archaeological locations anywhere in the World. Katy 'KP' Parrott has been described as “Tinkerbell crossed with the Terminator”. Katy found her passion for adventure at a young age and when she was 17 went on an expedition to Nepal. Her love of nature and the outdoors led her to gain a First in Biology from the University of Bath and a Masters in wildlife film making for which she had to make a video out in the wilds of Bulgaria.   She was a ‘recruit’ in the BBC programme Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week, which she was selected for out of thousands of applicants, and made it to the final six in the show. It was an experience she found ‘life-changing’ and one that has inspired her to train to become an Army medic. Most recently she has done her first 100K and half ironman.
