Hello everyone and welcome to Ultimate Motorcycling's weekly Podcast—Motos and Friends. My name is Arthur Coldwells. This week's Podcast is brought to you by Yamaha motorcycles. Filling the gap between the entry-level R3, and the flagship superbike R1, Yamaha's YZF-R7 is a brilliant supersport machine that provides real performance—perfectly balanced with rider comfort. Check it out at YamahaMotorsports.com, or of course you can see it for yourself at your local Yamaha dealer. This Podcast is also brought to you by the new, state-of-the-art Schuberth C5. The modular C5 is a flip up design that blends safety with amazing aerodynamic and aeroacoustic performance within its light weight and compact design. Visit Schuberth.com for more information. This week, Senior Editor Nic de Sena gives us his impression of the outrageously cool-looking new Indian Scout Rogue. The Rogue features a larger front wheel among several other changes, and the bobbed-looks and excellent 100 horsepower motor make the Scout Rogue an interesting—and very real—competitor to the offerings from Milwaukee. In the second segment Neale Bayly brings us the third and final segment from Brian Slark—the man who helped bring Norton motorcycles to America. Having spent 27 years and counting at the Barber Museum in Birmingham Alabama, Brian talks us through the final part of his career, that of course includes how the museum got started and where it's going. From all of us here at Ultimate Motorcycling, we hope you enjoy this episode!

Hello everyone and welcome once again to Motos and Friends—a weekly Podcast brought to you by the editorial team at Ultimate Motorcycling. This week we go retro! We start off the first segment with Senior Editor Nic de Sena talking to us about the new Kawasaki Z650 RS. This retro-styled moto follows after the huge success of the Z900 RS, and it follows the same inspiration as its sibling. The KZ650 back I the seventies was a brilliant machine that combined relatively light weight and a motor that revved to the moon, so it quickly gained popularity and sold very very well. The new Z650 RS plays to the visual strengths of the original and certainly for me, the flawless emerald green, pinstriped paintwork, and the gold spoke-type wheels are very evocative of the original. In the second segment, Neale Bayly continues his chat with Brian Slark—the man who helped bring Norton to the United States. Brian talks to Neale not just about his amazing career, but he also gives us some insight into the burgeoning motorcycle industry of the late sixties and early seventies in America. The rivalry between Triumph, Norton, and of course the other now extinct British brands such as BSA, AJS and Matchless was pretty fierce apparently, and Brian's first hand witness account to the whole era is fascinating. We hope you enjoy this episode! Check out our review and pictures of the Kawasaki Z650RS here
Markesan High School Baseball Coach Dean Slark previews the 2022 season.

This is the first part of three, and gives and introduction to Brian and how he got started in motorcycling. We hope you enjoy this episode! Suzuki GSX-S1000

Talking Motorcycles proudly presents another episode as a part of our AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Series. David Aldana, 1999 Hall of Fame inductee, became famous early in his career for his "all or nothing" mentality as a professional motorcycle racer. He was a rookie expert in AMA Grand National competition in 1970. He went on to place 3rd in the Championship winning three Grand Nationals along the way. In total, David won 4 Grand Nationals in his flat track career. He competed in nearly every form of motorcycle racing including motocross and road racing. During his road racing career he was a factory rider for Suzuki, Kawasaki and Honda. In 1981 he teamed up with Mike Baldwin to win the SUZUKA 8 HourEndurance Race in front of 10's of thousands of fans. Suzuka was at that time, one of the most prestigious road races in the world and the one race everyone wanted to win. Known for his black leathers with the white skeleton outline in the front, Aldana was and continues to be a fan favorite world wide. Brian Slark, 2012 Hall of Fame inductee, was one of the people who gets credit for the creation of motocross in America. He was at one time the importer of the Rickman Metisse. Brian assisted Hall of Famer, Dave Mungenast in the creation of a vintage motorcycle museum in St. Louis. He then helped create the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Leeds, Alabama. Today Barber is considered the premier vintage motorcycle museum in the world and Brian oversees the restoration work in their shop as Technical Director. If you have a Clymer Service Manual published from 1971 through 1984, the teardown work was likely performed by Brian Slark. Both of the legendary men will be on hand at the 16th annual Riding Into History event this weekend!
