Episode #151: Fresh off the whirlwind of a 16-day spring break adventure with my kids, I've emerged with a treasure trove of travel insights that promise to transform your family vacation experiences. Picture this: a last-minute decision to head to the JW Marriott Desert Springs in Phoenix, a hotel that came highly recommended by a friend. In navigating the chaos of high-season travel and family logistics, I've discovered that sometimes, cutting a trip short can actually enhance the joy and leave everyone wanting more. My years of globetrotting as a management consultant have truly shaped my approach to making family travel less about stress and more about seamless fun. Our stay at the luxury hotel was a blend of opulence and a few quirky setbacks. Imagine arriving at a vast multi-wing property, only to be greeted by the scent of smoke and a missing concierge. Yet, the allure of an upgraded suite and the joy it brought to my family of five quickly overshadowed these hiccups. With a lazy river and several pools, the hotel was a haven for our kids, even as we tackled the challenges of managing a toddler who needed floaties. From mastering the art of carrying large rafts on water slides to embracing the minor logistics of kid-friendly travel, there was plenty of fun to be had and stories to share. This episode is more than just tales of poolside escapades. Join me as I recount memorable moments like a spontaneous airport lounge upgrade and a kind stranger's compliment that moved me to tears. From unexpected adventures with a double ear infection to humorous encounters in airport lounges, this trip was a tapestry of family fun and learning. As we wrap up, I'm thrilled to introduce new segments focused on delivering consistent and engaging content, and I'm incredibly grateful for your support on this journey. Next in Creator Media spoke with Sol Betesh Co-Founder & CEO at Fallen Media, the company behind viral hits like Street Hearts and What's Popping, on why he's bullish on predictable, original series on short form platforms.Betesh also talked about why brands are still asking lots of elementary questions when working with creators, and how he's planning to deal with a potential TikTok ban.Takeaways:• Short-form Video is King: Platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts dominate modern content consumption. • Content Development is Strategic: Successful short-form series like "What's Poppin'" demonstrate the importance of iterative testing and audience feedback to refine formats and achieve viral success.• Monetization Evolves Over Time: Initial revenue streams for creators may start modestly, but with consistent hits and engagement, brands begin seeking partnerships, as seen with collaborations from Adidas and Expedia.• Brand Partnerships Benefit from Custom Integration: Creative campaigns, such as Westin's king-size bed in Central Park, showcase how unique content concepts can elevate brand visibility and audience connection.• Consistency Builds Trust: Regular posting and series predictability resonate with both audiences and brands, much like traditional entertainment models adapted for short-form platforms.• Agile Adaptation Across Platforms: While TikTok leads short-form innovation, creators hedge risks by maintaining strong presences on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging alternatives like Snap Spotlight.• Creative Collaboration Over Focus Groups: Brands increasingly entrust creators to align with their vision while retaining creative control, simplifying processes to deliver authentic and engaging content.• Future of Short-form to Long-form: Successful short-form series often act as testbeds for scaling into longer formats, bridging gaps between digital platforms and traditional media outlets.Guest: Sol BeteshHost: Mike ShieldsSponsor: VuePlannerProducer: FEL Creative

Why You're Missing Out on Millions of $: The Shocking Truth About Paid vs Organic Growth

Living The Red Life

The crucial debate between organic and paid advertising. Paid ads are quicker and more predictable results, but organic has the potential to produce an even higher roi. Paid advertising allows for consistent traffic flow and scalable sales, which are essential for building a real business as opposed to a hobby. Paid ads provide control and predictability, making it easier to achieve revenue goals and demonstrate profitable acquisition channels, a critical factor when selling a business to potential buyers. Organic growth, while valuable in the long run, is less predictable and takes longer to yield significant returns.Successful businesses need a balance of both paid and organic strategies. While paid ads offer immediate returns and scalability, organic content is a long-term investment that enhances brand value and trust. Effective paid advertising requires testing, optimization, and a solid product or service. By understanding and leveraging both paid and organic methods, businesses can achieve sustainable growth and improved valuations.CHAPTER TITLES1:17 - The Importance of Both Paid Ads and Organic Growth 1:50 - Why Paid Ads are Essential for Business Consistency 2:51 - Comparing Paid Ads to Organic Growth4:03 - Analogies: Paid Ads vs. Organic Growth4:29 - The Challenges and Benefits of Paid Ads 5:10 - The Long-Term Value of Organic Growth6:17 - Building a Balanced Strategy 6:56 - Organic Growth as a Long-Term Strategy 7:15 - Paid Ads and Business Valuation 8:44 - Examples of Big Brands Using Paid Ads9:10 - The Role of Different Types of Paid Traffic 10:39 - The Myth of Affording Paid Ads 11:58 - Personal Success Stories with Paid Ads12:42 - Integrating Organic Growth and Paid Ads 12:56 - Creating Viral and Branded Content for Organic Growth14:33 - The Importance of Testing in Paid Ads 14:51 - Guidance for Members on Paid and Organic Strategies 16:06 - Summary and Final Thoughts on Paid vs. OrganicConnect with Rudy Mawer:LinkedInInstagramFacebookTwitter

The Payal Nanjiani Leadership Podcast

About Darshana Bhalla, Founder & CEO, D'Artist Talent Ventures:Darshana Bhalla is an innovative and thoroughbred entrepreneur and leader for over 20 years in the media and entertainment industry. She has the ability and vision to envisage future trends and innovations, a creative entrepreneur with an acute sense of business. Darshana's experience varies from starting her own company at the age of 28 and partnering with India's largest homegrown communication conglomerate Madison Communications  (advertising veteran Sam Balsara's company) to forming a company called Madison and  Teamwork's Entertainment Solutions (MATES). She started the Entertainment vertical and was a pioneer in branded content, celebrity management, and solutions for over 18 years. Her work has won her several accolades at prestigious Advertising Events like Abby's and EMVIES  for Creative and Media innovations. She successfully ran MATES for 13 + years. In 2018, she decided to move on from MATES and look at the media, entertainment, and sports industry through the lens of a new media landscape of deeper associations with Creators, Digital Platforms,  Intellectual Properties, Branded Content, Celebrity Solutions, and Sponsorships. Her revenue-focused, stoic, and creative vision-led business plan, along with an extremely high network in the media and entertainment industry led to investments from TTS: IO (Rana Kapoor's Family office) to form DO IT Talent Ventures.  In 2020, as an entrepreneur, Darshana faced and rose above an extremely difficult phase of entrepreneurship which is the sudden truncation of the association with TTS: IO, along with the global crises of the pandemic. However, as a leader, she withheld the business and social exigencies and came out even stronger within a year to bring back the business to normalcy.  During this phase, with a lot of difficulty, she exited the partnership with TTS: IO and started her own venture D'Artist Talent Ventures. Not only did she retain the team, but also brought back the business to normalcy within a year, despite the ongoing pandemic.  D'Artist Talent  Ventures continues to grow at a healthy rate and expand its horizon to the ambitious objectives set out in the space of Entertainment and Sports. Darshana with her experience of managing the business, and being on both sides of IP ownership has an in-depth understanding of Media Properties and their P&L.

As Zacharay Slingsby, Founder of Human Factor Media, sees it, the answer to this question is branded content, "digital video with a narrative structure, the purpose of which isn't to explicitly sell a product, but to entertain an audience."
