TROLLZ Music is the bridge that connects & binds us! Where there are bridges... there are bound to be trolls. In this episode Soundsational and Lex get a little off the topic of music . They work their way through dreams , old stories , bad jokes , comedians, & movies . No stone gets unturned in this bizzare collage of topics . Probably offending everyone along the way . So who is tip tapping on my bridge"!!! Mentioned in the show's banter are musical artist 50 cent , Tekashi 69, Machine Gun Kelly AKA MGK and actor/front man of band Tenacious D Jack Black. Also mentioned are comedians Anthony Jeselnik , Eddie Murphy , Ben Stiller , and Jim Carrey .
This episode Lex goes fanboy over one of his favorite... “distant” local celebs. Shannon Gerald Hopkins front man of the band GRAVITEE. Soundsational lets Lex take the lead and hilarity and chaos ensues...worth hearing to the end as the mystery of the idiot is finally revealed!!!
Sence & Doug Welcome their first guest to the show. Guitarist/Artist Gery Klappert. Gery goes way back with Alex Blue on drums/vocals with Azur while pondering the idea of starting a group from the ground up as ultimately preferable to joining someone else's band. Ensembles without bassists are debated as well and Gery's guitar centric mindset mined mainly through the power of Jimi Hendrix realized. Age differences and generations dealt with. Spoiler alert. Gery K. born in 1988, Soundsational in 1974 and Death Metal in 1968 making him the resident old fart of the crew. We find out Gen X has four years pre Death and four years post Sound. "Groovy" as they say. DMD unwittingly showboats a friendship with Brent Hinds of Mastadon. Fishing for ratings he exploits any situation thrown his way so watch out, snookums! The spiel moves toward Toxic Masculinity rearing its beautiful head once again in an obscure name choice by SNS "The Phallic Principle" and the process of picking a moniker that is imaginative enough to avoid another prissy, pissy pants group and their pesky attorneys composing the letter nasty. And speaking of nasty Alex gets off performing near strip club Scarlet's with neighbors and happy endings. One could wager he's in tha dog house as he gets home. Addiction and genuine sickness are acknowledged. "The worst drug. Musicians buying gear is like a drug! There is no rehab for it." Gery describes a Motorhead covers w/ Mudknuckles (feat. Ray of Load on lead vocals) at Churchills and having 3 days to learn the set. All this with his wife in the hospital! Talk about pressure. Sence describes a "he who shall not be named" circumstance as subject matter devolves into naked haircuts and what not. (P.S. This is the show Gery described https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAly8PpzV6U)
Soundsational and Death Metal describe their new intro and how it barely got off the ground due to an amplifier in pieces. Death Metal reminisces his own version of "the Reveloution Summmer" (technically the birth of Post-hardcore emo in Washington DC) with Bob Slade's "Off the Beaten Path", Spin magazine and how indie rock transformed his perception of music in the summer of 1985. From there listeners get Soundsational getting the ball rolling on analog recording running the gamut all the way down to Lars Ulrich's douchbaggery over MP3s. Death Metal even talks about death metal for the first time. Imagine that!
The Rock Box makes it's aura known as Sense goes out on his own, brothu! Sense's father "you know I could come get you" Sense "you could come try and we'll see how this goes" Soundsational has an uphill battle keeping the place clean and finding work. Hones his chops with local rockers and gets blown away by Load as did most of South Florida in the early 1990's DMD unabashedly boasts and brags about bagging groceries with future Helmet drummer John Stainer at Publix in Plantation. Witnesses Stainer's transformation firsthand from cover band drummer to fellow hardcore punker which ultimately culminates into a full-on brawl at a Plantation High Battle of the Bands in 1986. Upon his triumphant return to South Florida in 1999 Motel 666 is formed as Doug joins Sean and Chris Chavez (Human Buffet, Blowfly). From there DMD explains his early band Headcave in Huntsville AL and how it became the largest drawing group (300 peeps!) of that town's history as he left the Army in 1991.

This is going to be a wild ride!More about Magic Happens:“This incredible daytime spectacular celebrates the awe-inspiring moments of magic that are at the heart of so many Disney stories. “Magic Happens” features nine newly designed floats, highlighting magic from classic Walt Disney Animation Studios. The new floats were created as pieces of moving art, with their lines and aesthetic design working to tell a story along the parade route, while also evoking a sense of magic. In addition to the stunning floats, the parade route along Main Street, U.S.A., will be filled with dynamic performers and more than two dozen Disney and Pixar characters. The parade’s costume design draws inspiration directly from modern runways, making each costume look fashion-forward, yet uniquely Disney. While the music and stories seen in “Magic Happens” are rooted in iconic Disney lore, the soundtrack and choreography are heavily influenced by today’s pop culture designers, putting a contemporary spin on the classic Disney hits. “Magic Happens” features an energetic musical score and new songs, co-composed by singer-songwriter, Todrick Hall.” Links:Subscribe to our events calendar (it’s free)!Follow Sean, Tabitha and the Magic on Main Street Podcast on Instagram! If you have any comments, questions or any stories you may want to share with our audience, email us at friends@magiconmainstreetpodcast.com!Become a patron on our all new Patreon! Since 2011, Disneyland guests have been treated to the daily “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade”. The afternoon and sometime nighttime parade is led by none other than Mickey Mouse himself with his syncopated drum line. Mickey’s Soundsational Parade travels from Town Square to It’s a Small World with the direction alternating every day. Mickey is followed by troops or energetic dancers, musicians and many of his friends. It’s a music celebration… Come on, come on, come on; Strike up the band. Feel the beat. What a great sensation. Come on, come on, come on; Move and clap your hands. Get into the spirit. Let everyone hear it. So come on, come on Soundsational. Whoa, whoa - hey, hey, hey. Whoa, whoa - hey, hey! The history of parades at Disneyland can be traced all the way back to opening day in 1955 – and Mickey’s Soundsational represents the latest. Mickey's Soundsational Parade arrives with a chorus of live musicians, dancers, thrilling rhythms, bold percussion, Disney Characters and whimsical floats that bring to life beloved melodies from classic Disney movies.
(((HEADPHONES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED))) This episode, the Mouse Lounge proffers a plethora of percussion! But first, we go Behind the Mickey Bar, as Liana and I talk about our upcoming meet at Westfest 2012 and then delve into Disney news. Next, a Mouse Lounge Special Feature: The BBCs Russell Davis looks at how the archives have treated to the two faces of Walt Disney. Uncle Walt, who brought laughter and pleasure to millions, and… the rather tough businessman and social engineer. Enjoy the third of a five part series, Double Disney. Then, from the Disney Archives: From the January 30, 1966 episode of Wonderful World of Color, Professor Ludwig von Drake introduces us to the art of Jazz and the swinging short subject, After You’ve Gone from the 1946 package film, Make Mine Music! Then, from Vault Disney: A few weeks ago I played a Disneyland Record, A Child’s Introduction to Melody based on the short, Toot Whistle, Plunk, and Boom. Well your response was overwhelmingly positive but you asked, What about the original cartoon? The short was originally released to theaters in 1953 and made use of the then new widescreen format and novel stereophonic sound. It finally found life on DVD when it was released early on in the Walt Disney Treasures series called, Disney Rarites and I present the entire short for you here. If you’ve never seen it, you can find it on youtube, albeit with rather poor audio quality. Still, it’s absolutely worth seeing. Then, from the original Mickey Mouse Club in 1956, the Firehouse Five + 2 join the Mouseketeers for a rip roarin’ Dixieland good time! Listen carefully during The Tiger Rag, that’s Cubby O’Brien on the skins in a wicked awesome solo! Each show we present a high definition ride-through from a Disney Park East or a Disney Park West. Percussion in the parks was brought front and center last year, drum line and all with the introduction of Disneyland’s, Soundsational parade. Have a listen to this drumming infused Mouse Lounge remix! Then, we head over to Epcot where even the street sweepers must take a break and form, the Jamitors. We’ll close the show with a pair of percussive tracks from Tarzan, first the original “Trashin’ the Camp” from the original soundtrack, then the rich harmony laced pop cover featuring Phil Collins and *Nsync. Lastly, as a special bonus, a battle of the drummers between the Muppets, Animal, and Travis Barker as he guests with the Electric Mayhem on Jimmy Kimmel live performing Can You Picture That!
