In this episode of Agents of Recovery, Coach Blu and Coach Wendell break down the difference between being “stuck” and being in motion especially when your emotions are loud, and your plans fall apart. They discuss how control isn't about controlling other people or outcomes; it's about choosing the next clean action, even when you don't feel ready. They also talk about forgiveness as a skill, not a slogan—how to forgive in a way that supports boundaries and protects your future. Forgiveness, in their framework, helps you stop dragging the past into every new decision, so you can redirect energy toward rebuilding routines, relationships, and identity. From there, the coaches shift into growth: how recovery becomes real when you treat setbacks as training—data, not disaster. Listeners learn how to spot mindset traps, reframe quickly, and return to fundamentals: sleep, structure, honesty, and accountability. Finally, Coach Blu and Coach Wendell emphasize that you can't do recovery solo. They discuss surrounding yourself with a supportive team—people who understand your goals, reinforce healthy choices, and don't make your healing feel like a debate. The episode closes with practical takeaways so listeners can become active participants in their own recovery plan, not passive passengers.Join Coach Blu and Team Addict II Athlete and begin your recovery with a tram behind you! They don't call it a crisis when it happens behind a gas station until it's somebody's kid, somebody's brother, somebody's "one bad day." This episode goes straight at the reality of heroin: how fast it hooks, how hard it destroys, and why "it's just once" is a trap. And we look at the system: when money changes hands, the government's attention somehow becomes a blind spot. If justice only shows up for the headlines, we're done waiting for permission. This is where accountability meets action, and recovery starts with the truth. Join Coach Blu and Team Addict II Athlete and begin your recovery with a tram behind you! Coach Blu Robinson takes the mic for a can't-look-away episode of Addict to Athlete with a story that starts as a dream and turns into a full-contact comedy of endurance. In "Party in the Back," Blu joins his co-host, Josh Hansen, to recount his 2023 experience running the Hard Rock Half in Salt Lake City, Utah, a race that served up humorous highs, tragic detours, and the kind of pain you only laugh about after you survive it. From the moment the plan met the course reality, Blu and Josh break down what it felt like to push through when everything hurts, when motivation dips, and when your mind has to work harder than your legs. Expect real talk, laugh-out-loud moments, and the behind-the-scenes perspective of what it means to show up anyway, especially when the day doesn't go according to script. In this episode of the Addict II Athlete Podcast Coach Blu talks to Cliff McDonald. Cliff's story is a recovery "origin + engine" narrative: he connects the early, hard-won decision to get sober with the ongoing, daily work that keeps him there. The episode frames recovery not as a finish line, but as a lifestyle built through connection, practical support systems, and meaningful contribution to other people. Cliff describes recovery as something he had to build, not something that simply "happened" after a final decision. He shares the personal turning points that brought him from isolation and chaos to stability, then he broadens the focus to what sustained progress actually requires. Charles “Cadillac” Anderson joins Locked In with Ian Bick to share his story of spending over 20 years in the Arkansas and federal prison systems. Growing up in a rough neighborhood surrounded by gangs and violence, with his father in and out of his life, Charles was raised by a mother who did everything she could—but the streets pulled him in. Trying to fit in and be accepted led to a robbery charge that landed him 13 years in the Arkansas prison system, where he was sent to a max unit and exposed to extreme violence on a daily basis. In this episode, he talks about being stabbed in prison, witnessing brutal attacks, and what it takes to survive behind bars. After his release, he developed a drug addiction and began dealing, which ultimately led to a federal prison sentence. Charles opens up about hitting rock bottom, the cycle of crime and addiction, and how he finally turned his life around after serving decades behind bars. This is a raw, unfiltered look at prison life, violence, addiction, and redemption. _____________________________________________ #PrisonStory #ExInmate #TrueCrime #PrisonLife #BehindBars #LifeSentence #FederalPrison #lockedinpodcast _____________________________________________ Connect with Charles "Cadilac" Anderson: https://www.facebook.com/charles.cadillac.anderson _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Shop Locked In Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 How He Lost 20 Years of His Life 00:19 Growing Up in Southwest Little Rock 01:19 His Childhood and Family Life 03:37 Trouble Started Early 04:46 First Crimes as a Kid 05:56 Addiction Took Over Fast 07:55 Dropping Out of School 09:49 Missed Chances That Changed Everything 11:07 First Robberies 13:11 Getting Caught 16:13 First Time in Jail 17:46 Learning How to Survive 19:19 Sentenced and Sent to Prison 21:26 Life in Maximum Security 23:33 Violence Inside Prison 26:34 Solitary Confinement 30:56 Getting Out and Starting Over 33:43 Relapse and Losing Everything Again 36:53 Second Arrest and Federal Charges 42:12 Back to Prison 50:33 Prison Politics and Survival 56:12 Finally Getting Out 01:03:43 Turning His Life Around 01:10:10 What He Would Tell His Younger Self _____________________________________________ To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka Learn more about your ad choices. This week, Coach Blu speaks to Richard Baum, a former acting drug czar and Georgetown professor, draws on decades of experience in drug policy to offer a thoughtful look at the opioid crisis and broader addiction challenges. In this episode, he discusses how addiction is not just a personal issue, but a public health problem that affects families, communities, and government systems. He explains that effective responses require more than punishment or short-term fixes. Instead, they need a balanced approach that includes prevention, treatment, recovery support, and smart policy. Baum highlights the importance of evidence-based strategies, such as expanding access to treatment, supporting harm reduction efforts, and making sure people struggling with addiction can get help without unnecessary barriers. He also emphasizes that lasting progress depends on cooperation between communities, healthcare providers, and government leaders. By working together, they can create systems that reduce overdose deaths, improve recovery outcomes, and address the root causes of substance use disorders. If you've ever wondered why you can only fish for Chinook a handful of days a year while anglers in Canada are limiting out on fish from your own backyard — this episode is for you. Jamie breaks down the North of Falcon salmon season process from the ground up: where it came from, why it works the way it does, and most importantly, what you can do right now to get involved before the 2026 seasons are locked in. Timestamped Sections00:00 — Introduction: Why Jamie rush-recorded this episode 01:45 — What's at stake: Chinook seasons, Marine Area 7, and fishing for the next generation 04:20 — Big picture overview: halibut seasons expanding vs. Chinook contracting 05:45 — A brief history of Washington salmon fishing in the 1950s–70s 07:30 — Tribal fishing rights, treaty negotiations, and the Fish Wars 09:50 — The Boldt Decision (1974): what Judge George Boldt ruled and why it still governs everything 12:15 — Co-management: tribes as equal partners in science, decision-making, and enforcement 14:00 — What "North of Falcon" actually means and where the name comes from 15:45 — How the annual North of Falcon process works (February through June timeline) 18:00 — The ESA listing of Puget Sound Chinook (1999) and NOAA's annual biological opinion 19:30 — Common Q&A: Why only 5–6 days? Why can Canadians fish our fish? Hatcheries? Seals? 23:45 — Four action items to take right now before seasons are locked inKey TakeawaysThe Boldt Decision split the harvestable salmon 50/50 between tribes and non-tribal fishers — and that split is federal law, not something WDFW chose.Tribes aren't just participants in the North of Falcon process — they're co-managers with equal say in the science and decision-making.Marine Area 7's season shrunk from 92 days to 3–6 because constraining Chinook stocks that migrate through it are ESA-listedSalmon don't respect borders. Washington hatchery Chinook migrate to Canadian waters, and the Pacific Salmon Treaty governs how those fish are harvested.Hatchery production of Chinook in Puget Sound has roughly doubled since the ESA listing — without hatcheries, there would be very few fish left to target.Resources MentionedWDFW Public Meeting Schedule: https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/management/north-falcon/public-meetingsFish Washington App: https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/appNOAA — Puget Sound Chinook: https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/west-coast/endangered-species-conservation/puget-sound-chinook-salmonHistoryLink — Boldt Decision: https://historylink.org/file/21084NW Indian Fisheries Commission: https://nwifc.orgEpisode 52 — The Science of Salmon: Fisheries Experts Reveal the Truth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDhEf5IusdUAnglers Unlimited Gold: https://anglersunlimited.co/goldAttend the February 27th North of Falcon meeting — in person in Olympia or via Zoom starting at 9:00 AM. On Your Marks, Get Set, Wait!Acts 1:1-8Pastor Jim ThomasJanuary 18, 2026Before the church moved forward, Jesus told them to stop. Before the mission began, He commanded them to wait. The book of Acts opens not with strategy, speed, or self-confidence—but with a risen Lord who insists that His people do nothing until they are clothed with power from on high.Join Pastor Jim for an introduction to the book of the Acts of the Apostles and the opening eight verses as he explores why waiting does not have to be wasted time; why the Spirit—not human effort—is the engine of the mission, and how God still moves His people onto mission with the presence and in the power of the Holy Spirit. To find more resources like these, follow us:Website: https://thevillagechapel.comYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQVTzDbaiXVUAm_mUBDCTJAInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/tvcnashville/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tvcnashvilleX: https://twitter.com/tvcnashvilleTo support the ongoing mission of The Village Chapel go to https://thevillagechapel.com/give/. In this episode of the Agents of Recovery Podcast, Coach Blu and Wendell explore a decisive shift in how to relate to emotional triggers in mental health and addiction recovery. Rather than treating triggers as threats to avoid, they frame them as trailheads—valuable starting points that lead to deeper self-understanding and lasting change.Episode OverviewCoach Blu and Wendell unpack the idea that triggers are not the problem; they are signals. When something activates a strong emotional response, it often points to an unresolved experience, belief, or wound asking for attention. By slowing down and getting curious instead of reactive, recovery becomes less about control and more about discovery.Throughout the conversation, they share grounded, real-world examples of how triggers show up in daily life and recovery spaces. From interpersonal conflict to internal self-talk, they demonstrate how asking why you feel the way you do can open the door to insight, self-compassion, and freedom.Key Themes Explored- Triggers as information, not danger, and how reframing them reduces shame and fear - Curiosity as a recovery skill, replacing avoidance with awareness - The difference between managing symptoms and understanding sources - How emotional reactions often point to unmet needs or past experiences - Practical ways to pause, reflect, and learn from triggering momentsThis episode is a reminder that every trigger holds potential insight, and that a bit of curiosity can go a long way toward meaningful, sustainable recovery.Join Coach Blu and Team Addict II Athlete and begin your recovery with a tram behind you!
