What if the secret to success isn't doing more, but focusing on less? In this episode of The Greatness Machine, Darius sits down with legendary investor and entrepreneur Mohnish Pabrai to talk about building businesses, spotting hidden opportunities, and why focus is the ultimate superpower. From failed startups to scaling a $20M company, Mohnish shares how he discovered his edge, not by doing it all, but by doing what he does best. He unpacks the concept of “offering gaps,” the value of deep listening, and how modeling Warren Buffett's early partnership strategy led him to launch Pabrai Investment Funds and never look back. In this episode, Darius and Mohnish will discuss: How to spot and capitalize on "offering gaps" in the market Why your first (or second) idea may not work—and why that's okay The importance of focus and why you can't optimize for two variables What it really means to build something that fits your strengths and interests Why Mohnish left a thriving company to pursue value investing full-time How he turned $1M into $13M in five years—by doing what he loves Mohnish Pabrai is the Managing Partner of Pabrai Investment Funds, modeled after the original Buffett Partnerships. Since its inception in 1999, the fund has delivered a 13.5% annualized return—significantly outperforming the S&P 500. Before launching the fund, Pabrai founded and grew TransTech, Inc. into a $20 million IT firm before selling it in 2000. He is the author of two popular books on value investing—The Dhandho Investor and Mosaic—and has been featured in Forbes, Barron's, and The Wall Street Journal. Pabrai is also the founder of The Dakshana Foundation, a nonprofit focused on poverty alleviation through education in India. Faith and Val are joined in the studio by Nik Dow of Bike Melbourne. We share our usual bike moments before turning to the Draft City of Melbourne budget currently out for consultation. Nik explains that Despite Mayor Reece's commitment during the 2024 elections to “maintain investment in bike lanes over the next four years at the same level as the previous term of council”, the draft budget shows a huge cut to funding. The City of Melbourne is proposing to spend more on Christmas decorations than it will on building new protected bike lanes and will fall significantly behind in its aims to build 50km of new physically protected bicycle lanes by 2030 on local roads. City of Melbourne is proposing to spend $1.5M in comparison to the City of Sydney spending $13M in an area twice the CoM. With such a small investment the schedule for buidling the nwtork of 50km of new protected bike lanes by 2030 can never be met. You can make your submission to the Draft Budget here. (The section for the first text box is "Bike Lane Funding") Share your story about riding in Melbourne, or not being able to, and ask that funding be re-instated to the same levels as the previous term of Council. You can also join the Critical Mass Ride planned for this Friday in the City with the theme BIG CITY LIGHTS!

In this episode, Lindsey shares her journey from joining the family business at just 26 years old to leading the company through a complete transformation from running retail stores to building a nationally distributed CPG brand. We talk about product simplification, clean ingredient innovation, what it takes to get B Corp certified, and how she balances leadership and motherhood with authenticity and purpose. Here are a few key takeaways from the episode: * Why simplifying the product line was critical to scaling, and which SKUs made the cut * How Simek's removed artificial ingredients and doubled down on real, clean, small-batch meals * Lessons learned from the brand's CPG transition, trade spend strategy, and digital evolution * Why DTC didn't make sense for frozen and how they partnered with retail to grow smarter * Their mission-driven approach to impact: from donating 13M+ meals to removing 180K+ lbs of ocean-bound plastic Join me, Ramon Vela, in listening to the full episode to hear how Lindsey is leading with heart, purpose, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Ever met someone who just makes the room feel right? Someone who can blend into any crowd, be the ultimate teammate or wingperson, and put others at ease while making them better? I'm sure a few names come to mind as you read this. And as you listen to today's episode of the Y-Option podcast with Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network, presented by our founding partner 76, you'll get that same feeling.Daniel - or “DJ,” as he's known in the industry - is a true master of his craft. As the lead voice on NFL Network during the NFL Draft, a constant presence in football media via his podcast Move The Sticks, and the LA Chargers radio analyst since 2018, DJ thrives in every environment. It makes sense. He was once a dual-threat quarterback who transitioned into media after an injury at Appalachian State set him on a new path. A chance encounter during that time changed his career trajectory, leading him to where he is today.DJ and I go way back - over a decade. We've done annual home-and-home podcasts on Move The Sticks and Y-Option, sharing a passion for football and the people who make the game great. In today's episode, we take a trip down memory lane, break down this year's QB class, and discuss why adversity often leads to success. We also dive into the NFL Draft prospects of Cam Ward, Travis Hunter, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, Tetairoa McMillan, and Ashton Jeanty. Plus, DJ shares powerful insights from 49ers QB Brock Purdy, on the toughness of Justin Herbert, and handicaps the AFC West - aka the Pac-10 from the early 2000s - under Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, and Jim Harbaugh.I have no doubt you'll enjoy today's conversation and I bet you'll walk away feeling like you just hung out with one of the coolest and most insightful football minds in the game. While DJ is the elite voice of the NFL Draft, what I admire most is his humility, discipline in chasing what truly matters, and ability to elevate those around him. Be sure to catch him and his colleagues live from Green Bay on April 24-26 as the 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on NFL Network. As spring football heats up across the country, there's some big news to report:* Coach Prime's Historic Extension: Deion Sanders has signed a five-year, $54 million extension to stay at Colorado through 2029. While his 13-12 record may not seem extraordinary, his impact is undeniable. He has sparked a national - and even global - resurgence of the Buffs brand. The proof? Colorado's season ticket revenue jumped from $13M in 2022 to $31.2M in 2023, they trend every time he has a press conference and this April the Buffs will, once again, pack Folsom Field for their spring game. Coach Prime continues to redefine what's possible in college football. And I'd imagine he will be in the news a little on NFL Draft night as well.* Syracuse & Colorado Joint Spring Practices Denied: Not surprisingly, the NCAA shut down the idea of Syracuse and Colorado holding joint spring practices. While denied for now, expect the landscape to evolve as we move toward 2026, with more teams looking to collaborate. Jim Thornby and I discuss this during the preamble to my conversation with DJ and make a case for joint practices, just not like you might imagine.* Stanford Makes Big Moves: The Cardinal have named Frank Reich as interim head coach for the 2025 season. Given Stanford's unique recruiting challenges, this hire brings immediate stability. While they could have pursued a long-term solution, GM Andrew Luck likely prioritized continuity, choosing a coach he knows well—Reich coached Luck in 2018 with the Indianapolis Colts. Did they get it right? Let us know @Y-Option on social media as we had a long discussion about this strategy as well on today's podcast.I met Coach Reich at a Super Bowl event a few years ago and he left a lasting impression. I imagine Stanford's roster will feel the same way and I do not anticipate a mass exodus to the portal.Additionally, Stanford hired Alden Mitchell as the interim Athletic Director. Having known Alden for over a decade from our time at the Pac-12 Networks, I can say this: she's competitive, sharp, and fully committed to this role. The next 4 months will shape Stanford's football program for the next 5 years. Their success in adapting to the modern college football landscape hinges on the decisions they make now, and with Andrew Luck steering the ship, I'm optimistic they'll get it right as a good Stanford squad is a great thing for college football. As always, much love to all of you for supporting Y-Option. Enjoy spring ball.Stay steady,YogiThis episode is executive produced by Jim Thornby and edited by Victor Ren.This podcast is a Best Coast Media productionY-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. "I want to build a platform, and my team wants to build a platform that blesses people—not a business empire, but a platform to bless people." – Charlie Workmon When you picture logistics companies, what do you see? Gruff individuals scrambling around hectic warehouses, driven only by tight deadlines? That's definitely the norm. But not in Charlie's logistics company, Riverstone Logistics. White glove service, purpose-driven culture, bold community service initiatives, & faith-driven leadership mark his. "Neat," you might say, "but I'm sure he's lagging behind his competitors." Hardly. In fact, he's blown them out of the water, scaling from $13M in annual revenue to over $400M in just four years! From humble beginnings in Atlanta's moving industry to now leading an industry powerhouse, Charlie shows that faith & purpose can guide decisions and be the catalyst for success. So much for conventional wisdom. To learn more, find him at RLX.us or on LinkedIn. The echoes of Henry Ford are so evident in Charlie's perspective on business. "The purpose of business is to produce happiness, not to pile up millions."

In this episode of the Tech Talks Daily Podcast, we are joined by Sean Adler, CEO of SWN, to dive into the intriguing world of quantitative finance and alternative financial data. SWN, formerly on the market for $13M before its latest product release, has reshaped the landscape of quant investment by rescaling a quant fund into a highly accessible streamable and downloadable product. Sean unpacks complex topics like smart beta, factor investing, and quantitative finance, making these sophisticated strategies relatable for listeners. He explains the practical applications of these financial tools, emphasizing the importance of not relying solely on backtesting and how a balanced approach with AI in the financial markets can offer both significant opportunities and challenges. From risk management to derivatives and staying ahead in a competitive landscape, Sean shares his deep insights from years of experience. We also touch on the secondary market, drawing from Sean's article on Forbes, where he explains the nuances of private equity valuations, alternative trading systems, and the often-overlooked dynamics of secondary liquidity in late-seed startups. The conversation is peppered with his unique perspective, blending elements of corporate strategy with real-world advice for founders navigating the evolving fintech space. If you're curious about the mechanics of financial markets, the role of alternative data, and the future of fintech, this episode offers a rare behind-the-scenes look into a rapidly changing industry. Plus, with Sean's storytelling flair and a nod to his love for Guy Ritchie films, there's no shortage of engaging analogies and thought-provoking insights.
