Slam the Gavel welcomes back Debbie Carroll to the podcast, Debbie was last on Season 5, Episodes 167 and 180. Today we talked about the Frost case:In 2022, El Paso County in Colorado Springs, Colorado, placed four siblings into the homes of their mother and their aunt.  Both women were living with registered sex offenders.  Three months later, they received a call from the youngest child's school about the boy's terrible physical battering. The Court DID NOT admonish Department of Human Services for their neglectful failure to investigate the women's homes before sending children to them. The judge DID NOT accuse them of reckless child endangerment. Instead, the Court congratulated the Department of Human Services for the good job they had done in the emergency situation they handled at the time!It appears that this judge doesn't know the difference between a safe parent and a crafted scheme to take children from him and put them into a child sex trafficking ring. Instead,in December 2024, she terminated the parental rights of  the protective FATHER  of the of the children.  She ignored the fact that he had contacted the pollice more than 15 times in the two years leading up to the department removing the children from him over allegations that were founded to be false. We will be looking at the documents that show that the department engineered a no-fault plea arrangement that was never made by the father, and the criminal records of the perpetrators that were ignored. To Reach Debbie Carroll:  Debbie.car@considerationnonprofit.org***** Supportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)Maryann Petri: dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@maryannpetriFacebook:  https://www.youtube.com/@slamthegavelpodcasthostmar5536Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/guitarpeace/Pinterest: Slam The Gavel Podcast/@guitarpeaceLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/maryann-petri-62a46b1ab/  YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/@slamthegavelpodcasthostmar5536  Twitter https://x.com/PetriMaryannEzlegalsuit.com*DISCLAIMER* The use of this information is at the viewer/user's own risk. Juvenile court operates as a unique entity, where the Constitution still holds sway, yet the rules and language differ significantly from adult court. Our conversation begins by examining these distinctions, such as the use of terms like "adjudicated a delinquent minor" instead of "convicted of a crime." This seemingly minor difference in terminology can have profound implications on a young person's future, particularly when filling out job applications. We explore the concept of bind overs, where juveniles may be tried as adults for certain offenses. This raises important questions about the fairness and effectiveness of such practices, especially given the understanding that adolescent brains are not fully developed until their mid-twenties. The discussion highlights the tension between society's desire for justice and the need for rehabilitation and understanding when dealing with young offenders.Throughout the episode, we emphasize the importance of recognizing juveniles as individuals with rights, as affirmed by landmark cases like Tinker vs. Des Moines. The podcast serves as a reminder that while juveniles may lack certain legal privileges, such as a jury trial, they retain fundamental constitutional protections.Top Moments(00:00) Introduction(01:30) Juvenile Law Basics(Robbiey) Constitutional Rights in Juvenile Court(08:45) Terminology Differences(15:00) The Concept of Bind Overs(25:00) Mandatory vs. Discretionary Bind Overs(35:00) Real-World Implications(45:00) Closing ThoughtsSubmit your questions to www.lawyertalkpodcast.com.Recorded at Channel 511.Stephen E.    Slam the Gavel welcomes Nate Munro and Debbie Carroll to the podcast.  we discussed the intricacies of the juvenile, family court and foster care systems. Where does all the money go?     Nate Munro is an Activist, Advocate and Citizen Journalist. Nate is a certified ADA advocate and father's rights advocate. After being subjected to debt peonage for over a decade by Child Support, he was tortured by the Colorado Department of Human Service, until his arm had to be amputated. He benefited from over three years of intense trauma therapy. He has been alienated for over five years from his son who is now an adult.     He then conducted a seven-year investigation into DHS in 10 different counties in CO, as well as state "oversight," and documented crimes by top state leadership and two US Senators. Nate also has created a replicable system to liberate many of the families from DHS and CPS within the parent support network within CO. Creating the PALADN support group- Parental Alienation and Legal Abuse Defense  Network which helps families survive the family courts and CDHS.     Debbie Carroll became involved in family court injustice in 2011 when she learned about a case where two ex-husbands had ganged up against the mother of their three (total) children.       The fathers had the same attorney, and all hearings for the two custody cases were scheduled back to back with the same magistrate. All rulings in either case applied to both, for example, when the judge ordered supervised visitation for the child of one of the dads, the mom was automatically required to have only supervised contact with the children from the other father.  This mother had no accusations of abuse or neglect, or any criminal history whatsoever!     Attending over 200 hearings in more than 50 cases in family court and juvenile court which are administrative courts, Debbie sees the distinction that the courts gives the judges/magistrates incredible power and discretion as well as intrusion into the lives of families.  Not only has Ms. Carroll witnessed heinous violations of humans rights by "rogue" courts, but also incredible damage to the children involved in these cases. Debbie has influenced positive outcomes in many cases.     Debbie  discussed the history of family court/CPS resistance, provided a clarification of the Memorandum of Procedures, provided examples of court violations in several cases, and introduced her non-profit Consideration, which offers resources to parents using a model that collaborates with attorneys. To Reach Debbie Carroll:  Debbie.car@considerationnonprofit.org    To Reach Nate Munro:  PALADNmedia.substack.com, givesendgo.com/PALADNmedia, patron.com/PALADNmedia, PALADNmedia@protonmedia.com******** Supportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)Maryann Petri: dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.comhttps://www.tiktok.com/@maryannpetriFacebook:  https://www.youtube.com/@slamthegavelpodcasthostmar5536Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/guitarpeace/Pinterest: Slam The Gavel Podcast/@guitarpeaceLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/maryann-petri-62a46b1ab/  YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/@slamthegavelpodcasthostmar5536  TwiSupport the showSupportshow(https://www.buymeacoffee.com/maryannpetri)http://www.dismantlingfamilycourtcorruption.com/

Send us a textKing County is experiencing a surge in juvenile crime and in particular serious violent crimes involving guns. More young people have been shot and killed so far this year in King County than all of 2023. Judge Veronica Galvan of King County's Juvenile Court talks about the challenges youth crime is posing for the juvenile system from the courts, to detention to the efforts to rehabilitate the young people committing the crimes. The King County Council voted recently to keep the juvenile detention center open despite County Executive Dow Constantine's 2020 commitment to close the facility by 2025. The 2025 date was moved to 2028 but that is not likely to happen either. Read:https://www.courts.wa.gov/appellate_trial_courts/supreme/bios/?fa=scbios.display_file&fileID=gonzalezRead: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/obituaries/chinatown-international-district-activist-matt-chan-dead-at-71/Hear Rick Shenkman on the BBC Radio Program Sideways:https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m001xdg0Read: https://www.thedailybeast.com/i-stuck-with-nixon-heres-why-science-said-i-did-itRead: https://www.washcog.org/in-the-news/your-right-to-knowRead: https://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/the-legislatures-sunshine-committee-has-fallen-into-darkness/Read: https://www.cascadiadaily.com/2024/feb/29/weakening-of-state-public-records-act-affects-your-right-to-know-every-day/Read: https://www.futuromediagroup.org/suave-pulitzer-prize/Read: https://pulitzercenter.org/people/maria-hinojosaRead: https://murrow.wsu.edu/symposium/the-edward-r-murrow-achievement-award/Read: https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/sinclair-nixes-univision-affiliation-ending-local-spanish-broadcasts/Read: https://www.chronline.com/stories/group-of-washington-state-faith-and-community-leaders-call-for-cease-fire-in-israel-hamas-war,329305Read: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/08/us/lahaina-fire-families.html#:~:text=The%20F.B.I.,survivors%20wonder%20what%20comes%20next.: Read:https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2022/apr/15/fentanyl-involved-in-more-...

They are an entertaining pair, but are serious about bettering the lives of “our kids.” They discuss misconceptions about the work of the Juvenile Court, the Nashville Youth Campus for Empowerment (coming in 2027), and recent legislation that will dramatically impact the juvenile justice system. Spoiler alert: the TN General Assembly did not seek their input, but they remain open and ready to assist when asked…hint, hint. Julieanna Huddle is the Executive Director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). Julieanna explains the mission of CASA and how YOU can make a difference in the lives of all of our children who are in desperate need of an advocate.

His experience in family court is not unique, as PERJURY and FALSE ACCUSATIONS as well as EXTORTION in the form of LIFE - TIME ALIMONY are ACCEPTED; NO QUESTIONS ASKED.     Sean's divorce case has been ongoing since he filed for divorce in 2010 and it is still a very active and contested case. Sean has suffered through false sexual abuse allegations made by the mother AFTER he filed for divorce as well as other false criminal charges made by the mother. However, Mother "recanted her accusations" at trial as they were contradictory and unsubstantiated by MULTIPLE DCF investigations with no accountability AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE, along with GAL, Sharon Dornfeld and her antics.     The EXTORTION began when the judge AWARDED Sean's ex LIFE-TIME ALIMONY only after being married 3.5 years based on her STILL unsubstantiated claim that she had terminal "brain cancer" that has been ongoing for the last 20 years. She claims if she goes to work, she will get a headache.     Sean has spent 12 years trying to protect the kids from their unfit and abusive mother, and the DCF report substantiated that the children had been seriously abused by their mother. But in 'Family Court,' judge, Judge Winslow, would not let DCF testify. Even though DCF took the case of abuse to Juvenile Court, it was shut down because the judge told the Juvenile Court judge to not hear it. DCF gave the kids to Sean.    'Family Court' is still 100% backing the mother by a female judge. This judge has debilitated Sean and his family with PUNITIVE alimony, threatening mandated reunification  and EXCLUDING EVIDENCE of the mother's abuse. ALSO, the judge ruled that Sean doesn't need to know where the mother is, but still has to keep paying the ALIMONY.      Sean encourages others to seek support from others and that people need moral support. In this episode of Police Chowki, Shrikrishna Upadhyaya hosts experts Shyni S (IPS and IG, Training, Biju Patnaik State Policy Academy, Odisha and Javeed Ahmad (Ex-IPS and DGP, Uttar Pradesh) for a conversation on how the juvenile justice system works. Court Leader's Advantage

August 15th, 2023, Court Leader's Advantage Podcast Episode Leaders deal with multiple circles of individuals.  Two that you as a court administrator or Clerk of Court deal with are 1) those who report to you and 2) those you either report to or deal with as fellow stakeholders.  Those reporting to you include your team, and the larger office or court staff.   The next circle centers on your Presiding Judge, and your bench; it includes your funding body such as your City Council, County Board, the state administrative office, or the state legislature.  It extends to your fellow justice partners such as the Sheriff, the Prosecutor, the bar, and community organizations.   The leadership skills needed to deal with both circles include team building, mentoring, strategic thinking, organization, persuasive speaking, and concise effective writing.  But you deal with your fellow stakeholders (principally your judges), differently than with your court staff.  Your judges are leaders in their own right; usually, they have their own vision which or may not align with yours; they are well-educated and may not be particularly interested in your counsel.  In addition, many judges may have developed their own concepts of managing people, they are used to handing down orders from the bench and having them obeyed, many are elected so they have their own specific constituency, and court staff often have a direct informal pipeline to individual judges.  Rick Pierce described the role of the administrator dealing with this circle as being an “influencer.” This month we're looking at leaders as influencers of others in power. What is this environment really like? Are there different skills necessary or just different ways of applying the skills you have?  What is your mindset when working with your bench?   Today's Panelists Rick Pierce: Judicial Programs Administrator, Pennsylvania Administrative Office of the Courts   Melinda Brooks: Grants and Special Projects Manager, Municipal Court, Franklin County, Ohio   Ellen Procida-Fisher: Operations Manager, Superior Court, Cape May, New Jersey,   JoShonda Guerrier: Interim Chief Administrative Officer, Juvenile Court, Fulton County, Georgia, and   Lori Tyack: Clerk of Court for the Municipal Court, Franklin County, Ohio

This is a fun conversation to share, not only because it involves chatting with three very smart grad students from my alma mater, Auburn University, but also because the topic tackles an issue that is outside of what we might consider the "mainstream" of Applied Behavior Analysis. A few months ago, Ashley Anderson, Daniel Sheridan, and Anna Kate Edgemon reached out to me, and informed me of the great work they're doing supporting justice-involved youth in a juvenile detention setting. As I learned, there is some history of behavior analysts practicing in this area, and these grad students, led by Dr. John Rapp and colleagues, have been developing effective interventions in these settings. And when I say effective, I'm talking about incredibly low recidivism rates... But I'm getting ahead of myself. If this is unfamiliar territory for you, don't worry. We go over enough introductory terms and definitions to get you up to speed straight away. Also, there are some great meta-lessons embedded in this conversation about rapport building, staff training, cultural competence, teaching real-life skills, and more. So even if this specific topic is not your thing, there are parts of this interview that I think will apply to your practice. I left this conversation really inspired by the somewhat untapped potential for our field, and I hope the intervention strategies these guests and their colleagues are publishing become adopted at a much wider scale!
