I want to dedicate some time today, to make sure that if (god forbid) that happens to you, you’ll know what to expect and won’t be caught off guard. Our CFP Erica Cummings from The Harmony Financial Wellness Group at RBC Wealth Management is here to explain what you can expect if you are laid off. What are you really good at? What comes natural to you? What would you say is your area of expertise? Maybe you can make some extra money by sharing what you know through an online course. Yes, it’s your course, you’re the expert. You see more and more people offering coaching advice or offering online course instruction. A lot of these people have said they’re making good money by helping others in this way. So why not you? The Go- to -Gal Jaclyn Mellone is here to explain exactly what you need to do to get started and how much money you can make from it. It might be something to think about. (this is part 2 of our interview with Jaclyn from last week) We end the show like we always do, we’ll take “A Seat at the Kid’s Table.” A study out of University of Arizona, found the more kids watch TV, the more advertising they are exposed to. The more advertising they see, the more likely they are to ask for something when you go to the store. Which researchers say, may contribute to parents' overall stress levels, well beyond a single shopping trip. So what advice does our expert Susan Beacham founder of Money Savvy Generation have for parents to combat the marketing that is directly targeting our kids? Today our Money Victory shout out goes to Sierra Stiller-Saiger! Thank you for listening to the show. I truly hope it is helping you. This week Susan Beacham, founder and CEO of the multi-platform financial education company Money Savvy Generation tells us it's never too early to start teaching your kids about the concept of money. In fact, these lessons should start right away! Kids are intuitive, just because they're young, doesn't mean they won't understand. Age 6-12 is a window of opportunity to shape good money behavior. It starts with implementing chores, the "gateway to developing a strong work ethic," then, as they get older giving them a conditional allowance, then setting the expectation that they will get a job and work for their own money. We dig deep into these concepts on the podcast this week, take a listen!   Want to learn more about Susan? Visit http://susanbeacham.com  or http://www.moneysavvy.com/

Today’s guest is a leading expert on money, kids and financial literacy and the creator of the Money Savvy Pig. She is also a banking and investment management veteran who worked with high net worth individuals for over 2 decades and advised them on what they should and shouldn’t do with their money. Her name is Susan Beacham. Susan founded her own company, Money Savvy Generation, in the late 90’s after seeing how much her own children wanted to learn about money. Since then, her company has developed a wide portfolio of products that’s helped millions of parents and educators teach basic personal finance skills to school-age children. Three takeaways from our interview: -- Susan’s inspiration to leave corporate America after 18 years to start her own company. -- Her money mantra that requires her to “stop, think and reflect.” -- How Susan’s own grandmother influenced her financial philosophy and helped her become a strong saver.
