In this episode, we break down the year-to-date performance across the major indexes, unpack why investor sentiment has turned cautious, and dig into the big question hanging over 2026: is the AI trade a bubble, or a healthy (and necessary) buildout with some overdue pullbacks? Along the way, they discuss what's fueling anxiety—from CEO tone and “arrogance vs. confidence,” to the market's growing demand for real ROI on the massive AI capex cycle and the timeline for data centers coming online. The conversation widens into the real economy and the road ahead: consumer spending vs. rising financial strain, a softening labor market, rate cuts, and what changing hiring patterns mean—especially for younger workers entering a world where AI is already replacing entry-level reps. We also share how we are thinking about opportunity in 2026 (including overlooked “boring” sectors, dividends, and cyclical setups), while the two debate market-structure shifts such as potential 24-hour trading and the risks of turning investing into a bigger casino. They close with an end-of-year recap, personal wins and goals, and a steady reminder for long-term investors: build a disciplined plan, understand how companies actually make money, and don't confuse activity for achievement.*This podcast contains general information that may not be suitable for everyone. 125: Incremental Steps, Lasting Impact: How Small Changes Lead to Financial Success with Meg Wheeler, CPA

"Creating safe spaces for people to talk about money is one of the most powerful things we can do right now to make the world better for change." -Meg Wheeler Our hosts Stephanie McCullough and Kevin Gaines sit down with Meg Wheeler, CPA and founder of the Equitable Money Project, who's on a mission to demolish the shame surrounding money conversations through accessible financial education. Her approach shows us that the path to financial confidence isn't about becoming an expert. It's about learning to simply talk about money without judgment. "Why should we know this when we've never been taught it in school?" Meg challenges the pervasive shame many people feel about their financial knowledge gaps. After all, we don't feel ashamed about not knowing brain surgery or environmental science because we were never taught those subjects either! The real problem isn't lack of knowledge, but the absence of safe spaces to discuss money openly. Meg's work centers on creating a community where people can share their financial stories without fear. She emphasizes that most people's situations aren't unique. Whether it's medical debt from our broken healthcare system or struggling with inconsistent business income, the factors contributing to financial challenges are systemic rather than personal failures. She suggests going for incremental progress rather than perfection. "Every quarter we want you to pick just one thing within one of those buckets to focus on," she explains, referring to her three-pillar framework: set up foundations, stabilize, and grow. This approach makes wealth-building feel achievable rather than overwhelming. Perhaps most powerfully, Meg advocates for teaching children about money early. Her eight-year-old has a debit card and checks his bank balance before purchases. Not because he's learning to become a financial professional, but because money should not be feared but normalized. Financial empowerment begins not with expertise, but with conversation, community, and compassion toward ourselves and others navigating the same challenges.   Key Topics ●      Meg's Path to Financial Education (02:26) ●      The Problem with "Financial Literacy" (04:28) ●      Why We Feel Shame About Money (05:21) ●      Information vs. Quality Education (05:56) ●      Creating Safe Spaces for Money Talk (14:07) ●      Teaching Kids About Money (16:13) ●      Learning the Language of Money (17:43) ●      The Three Pillars of Wealth Building (25:51) ●      Overcoming Emergency Fund Shame (26:54) ●      Business Owner Tips and Avoidance (33:00)   Resources: Equitable Money Project website   If you like what you've been hearing, we invite you to subscribe on your favorite platform and leave us a review. Beauty School Bobbi interviews Anna Manukyan, a prominent figure in the beauty industry known for her focus on financial education for beauty professionals. Anna shares her journey from being an immigrant to becoming a successful educator and advocate for financial literacy in the beauty sector. The conversation explores the importance of understanding finances, overcoming familial expectations, and creating opportunities within the beauty industry. Anna emphasizes the need for beauty professionals to start investing early and to shift their mindset from consumers to investors, providing practical steps to begin their financial journey. In this conversation, Anna Manukyan and Beauty School Bobbi discuss the evolving landscape of financial literacy within the beauty industry. They emphasize the importance of early investment, the changing perceptions of financial success in beauty careers, and the need for better education and resources for beauty professionals. Anna shares insights on how to navigate financial challenges, the significance of starting early, and the transformative moments that can arise from financial education. The discussion highlights the optimism for future beauty professionals and the importance of creating a supportive environment for financial growth.   Takeaways Anna's immigrant background shaped her work ethic and drive. The beauty industry lacks financial education for professionals. Many beauty professionals struggle with managing their finances. Investing early is crucial for building wealth. Financial conversations are often absent in immigrant families. Creating opportunities in the beauty industry is essential. Success in beauty can come from unexpected paths. Validation from family can be a powerful motivator. The beauty industry offers diverse career paths. Establishing financial systems leads to long-term success. Your money is kind of, I'm a big fan of like sneaky investing. Start as soon as you can, the earlier the better. The mindset around money needs to change in the beauty industry. More than half of Americans are financially illiterate. $6.60 a day can lead to almost half a million dollars in 30 years. The longer you're in the beauty industry, the less money you make. Stay educated and charge accordingly as a business owner. Beauty school students have a unique opportunity to build wealth. It's never too late to start planning for your future. Financial principles don't change, regardless of your experience level.   Chapters 00:00 Introduction to Beauty and Professionalism 02:14 Anna's Journey into the Beauty Industry 05:57 The Importance of Financial Education in Beauty 10:06 Overcoming Family Expectations and Finding Your Path 12:33 Creating Opportunities in the Beauty Industry 16:14 Understanding Wealth and Financial Planning 23:28 Starting Your Financial Journey 24:56 Sneaky Investing for Financial Growth 25:30 Changing Perceptions in the Beauty Industry 26:14 The Importance of Financial Literacy 28:02 Starting Early: The Key to Financial Success 31:18 Navigating Financial Challenges in the Beauty Industry 32:22 Awareness and Opportunities in Beauty Careers 34:14 The Evolving Landscape of Beauty Education 38:57 Empowering Future Beauty Professionals 41:57 Transformative Moments in Financial Education 44:33 Resources for Financial Mastery in Beauty   www.beautyschoolbobbi.com www.beautyandstylenetwork.com   Follow Beauty and Style Network: @beautystylenet Beauty School Bobbi: @beautyschoolbobbi Anna Manukyan: @amanukyan

Why do so many highly educated healthcare professionals feel lost when it comes to money? From student debt to investing, doctors, dentists, and chiropractors often graduate with six figures of debt and zero financial training. In this eye-opening episode, Dr. Lauryn sits down with New York-based dentist and personal finance educator Dr. Mike Mackney to unpack the financial lessons that every healthcare provider should have learned in school—but didn't.Together, they explore how to shift from survival mode to wealth-building, the difference between good and bad debt, and why investing early (even $50 at a time) can change your future. Dr. Mike shares his journey from dental school debt to owning multiple rental properties, the mindset shifts that helped him get there, and the simple habits that can help any healthcare provider take control of their financial futureKey Takeaways:Financial literacy is the missing piece in healthcare education. Most medical programs teach treatment—not wealth—and it's costing providers years of financial freedom.Debt isn't always bad—it's a tool. Dr. Mackney explains how understanding good vs. bad debt can open doors to ownership, real estate investing, and long-term wealth.Start small, start early. Even minimal investments create valuable financial habits and compound knowledge over time.Lifestyle creep kills freedom. The fastest way to lose financial progress is by inflating expenses as income rises—intentional spending builds sustainable success.About the Guest:Dr. Mike Mackney is a New York-based dentist on a mission to simplify personal finance and investing for busy healthcare professionals. A full-time clinician turned educator, Dr. Mackney began teaching himself the fundamentals of wealth-building during dental school, eventually expanding into real estate, stocks, and financial coaching.
