That's right everyone, our producer of our show is back with a mega talent show! We have a total list of at least 18 to 20 performances to enjoy, and even some randomness as well!
Matt Crawford speaks with author Denise Haynes about her book, Talent Show. Do you really know your parents? We all think we do but never consider them as persons before parenthood descended. And do they know you? In Talent Show an introverted father becomes talkative and lifts the curtain on who his wife was before she was a mother, who she became after, and who each of his children were in his eyes. He reveals a few secrets of his own and describes life in a household of ten children as a perpetual talent show. Everyone is always anxious to perform, to shine and to receive applause, even if they don't know what their talent is. Life is a rehearsal for the family talent shows, or is it the other way around? The children get their bit in as they reply with their own versions and reveal who they are. One thing is clear- there is no shared version of a family's life. Everyone has their own and pain is often hidden in the busyness of family life until family members speak honestly.
What's your hidden, or at least under showcased talent? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this episode, Olivia and Emily explore their personal connections to the series Black Mirror, discussing its impact on their understanding of society and technology. They delve into the first season, particularly the pilot episode 'The National Anthem', analyzing its themes of humanity, societal voyeurism, and the moral dilemmas presented in the show. The conversation highlights the show's ability to provoke thought and reflection on contemporary issues. Later, they delve into the episodes 'The Entire History of You' and '15 Million Merits.' Their discussion highlights the show's unique storytelling format and its commentary on contemporary issues, including the themes of memory, technology's impact on relationships, societal pressures, and the American Dream. Black Mirror was created by Charlie Brooker and the first season was released on Channel 4 in December 2011 and later streamed on Netflix. We're absolutely devastated to hear of the passing of The Vivienne. She was such a huge talent, epitomising the best of British Drag. Beyond that, she was an amazingly warm and kind person who touched so many. She is the reason we started our review podcast. I remember seeing her perform at Superstar Boudoir in Liverpool well before her TV debut, emanating star power. We were so excited to see her on the roster for Drag Race UK, she inspired us to start Spilling The G&T, and we loved cheering her on to victory. Her charisma and immense talent took her into the mainstream. We had the pleasure of meeting her and she was so gracious, witty and charming. We even had a message from her a few weeks ago. Our hearts go out to James' family, friends and sisters. We are so sorry for their loss.
