Rosanne Rebergen (27) is musicalartiest en danser. Al op jonge leeftijd had ze een grote passie voor zingen en dansen. Haar moeder moedigde haar aan om auditie te doen, waarna ze al vroeg mocht meespelen in musicals. Daarna volgden rollen in producties als Pinokkio, The Sound of Music en Joseph. Ze volgde de opleiding aan het Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts en studeerde daar in 2020 af met een honours degree. Chaque année, la combustion du pétrole, du charbon et du gaz, mais aussi la fabrication de l'acier, du ciment ou des plastiques, libèrent des quantités colossales de dioxyde de carbone dans l'atmosphère. Résultat : l'effet de serre se renforce, le climat se dérègle, et les équilibres écologiques vacillent. Face à cette urgence, une solution s'est imposée dans le débat climatique : capter le CO₂ à la source, puis l'enfouir profondément sous terre ou sous la mer pour l'empêcher de retourner dans l'atmosphère.Mais ce stockage du carbone ne s'improvise pas. Il faut des sites géologiques extrêmement stables, capables d'emprisonner le CO₂ pendant des siècles. C'est précisément ce que propose le projet Greensand Future, au large du Danemark. Il repose sur la reconversion d'un ancien gisement pétrolier, le Nini oil field, déjà utilisé pendant des millions d'années pour stocker naturellement du pétrole et du gaz. À près de 1 800 mètres sous le plancher marin, les couches de roche offrent des conditions idéales : une roche-réservoir poreuse scellée par une épaisse couverture étanche. Autre avantage majeur : les infrastructures sont déjà là — plateformes, forages, pipelines. Résultat, les coûts sont réduits et la mise en œuvre accélérée. L'objectif annoncé est ambitieux : atteindre environ 400 000 tonnes de CO₂ stockées par an dans un premier temps, puis jusqu'à 8 millions de tonnes à l'horizon 2030. Ce serait alors le premier site offshore de stockage de carbone pleinement opérationnel dans l'Union européenne.Pour autant, les experts appellent à la prudence. Même à pleine capacité, ces 8 millions de tonnes restent dérisoires face aux 38 milliards de tonnes de CO₂ émises chaque année dans le monde. Le stockage ne supprime pas les émissions : il les retarde, les enferme. Le risque, selon certains, est qu'il serve d'alibi à des secteurs industriels très polluants pour ralentir leurs efforts de réduction. Pourtant, l'intérêt du stockage est bien réel, notamment pour les industries dites « difficiles à décarboner » — chimie, ciment, raffineries — où les alternatives sont limitées. En transformant d'anciens gisements en puits de carbone, Greensand Future incarne une forme de recyclage géologique de l'ère fossile. Today on the show, I am joined by two magical women whose work has woven into my world in a special way. In the first half of the show I get to speak with Odeya Nini, a Los Angeles based interdisciplinary vocalist and composer. At the locus of her interests are performance practices, gesture, textural harmony, tonal animation, and the illumination of minute sounds, in works spanning chamber music to vocal pieces and collages of musique concrète. Her solo vocal work extends the dimension and expression of the voice and body, creating a sonic and physical panorama of silence to noise and tenderness to grandeur.Odeya's work has been presented at venues and festivals across the US and internationally, such as The LA Phil, Merkin Concert Hall, The Broad Museum, and MONA from Los Angeles to Australia, Mongolia, Madagascar and Vietnam. Her solo performance of I See You was included in the The New Yorker's 10 notable performances of 2021. Odeya is also a member of the 3 time Grammy nominated ensemble Wild Up and is the founder of Free The Voice, leading vocal sound meditations, workshops and retreats exploring the transformative and healing qualities of embodying the voice.Odeya holds a BFA from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and an MFA in composition from California Institute of the Arts. While she believes any medium can be used to communicate our creativity, reverence and inherent connection, she is especially devoted to the realms of nourishment inspired by that which activates and attunes the inherent potential of our bodies as instrument, vessel and channel.She has worked as a creative director in the fashion industry, as a team manager for the world's largest wild simulated ginseng farm, in botanical product development and manufacturing, as well as a farmer and as a cook. The guidance of nature has led her home to her calling as a conduit for plant medicines to be regeneratively utilized in this world. All being is relatedness and at heart, we all desire to be heard, seen and respected. She teaches writing at Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver, where she lives with her wife and son. Evanthia Bromiley is a graduate of the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers and the recipient of scholarships from the Aspen Institute, a Lighthouse Fellowship, a Lisel Mueller scholarship, and Elizabeth George and Carol Houck-Smith awards. She is the 2025 Grace Paley Fellow for Under the Volcano international residency in Tepoztlán, Mexico. Vyakula vya viwandani vinazidi kuongezeka na kuchukua nafasi ya matunda, mboga mboga na protini katika wakati ambao lishe ina jukumu muhimu katika ukuaji wa watoto, ukuaji wa utambuzi na afya ya akili.”Nini kifanyike?Ili kukabiliana na hali hii, UNICEF inazitaka serikali kuchukua hatua madhubuti ikiwemo kupiga marufuku uuzaji wa vyakula visivyo na lishe shuleni, kudhibiti matangazo ya vyakula vyenye sukari na mafuta, na kuweka sera za kusaidia familia kupata chakula bora na chenye lishe.Kwa mujibu wa UNICEF, bila hatua za haraka, gharama za kiafya na kiuchumi zitakazotokana na tatizo la utipwatipwa wa utotoni zinatarajiwa kupindukia dola trilioni 4 kila mwaka ifikapo mwaka 2035.Zipo juhudi za kupambana na hali hiyo ambazo zimeanza kuchukuliwa na baadhi ya nchi, mfano mzuri ni Mexico ambayo hivi karibuni imepiga marufuku uuzaji wa vyakula vilivyosindikwa na vile vyenye chumvi, sukari na mafuta mengi katika  maeneo ya shule za umma.

Shirika la Umoja wa Mataifa la Afya Duniani WHO limefanya mabadiliko muhimu katika orodha yake ya dawa muhimu duniani au Essential Medicines List – EML na orodha ya dawa muhimu kwa watoto (EMLc) ikijumuisha dawa za kisasa za saratani, kisukari, unene uliopitiliza na magonjwa mengine sugu.Orodha za WHO za dawa muhimu ni nyenzo za mwongozo zinazotumiwa na zaidi ya nchi 150 kupanga ununuzi, bima za afya na upatikanaji wa dawa. Kwa lugha rahisi, dawa zinazoorodheshwa hapa huwa na nafasi kubwa zaidi ya kununuliwa na kutolewa kwa wagonjwa kupitia huduma za umma kwani wanachama wa WHO wanaziweka dawa hizi kama kipaumbele cha kiafya kwa mamilioni ya watu duniani.WHO wakati wakitangaza orodha hiyo mpya waliweka bayana kuwa dawa hizi mpya si za majaribio, bali ni zile ambazo zimethibitishwa kitabibu kuwa zinaokoa maisha, kupunguza madhara ya magonjwa na kuboresha maisha ya wagonjwa.Nini maana yake?Kuongezwa kwa dawa hizi ni hatua ya mbele katika safari ya kuhakikisha afya bora kwa wote. Inamaanisha wagonjwa zaidi wa saratani, kisukari na magonjwa mengine sugu wanaweza kuwa na matumaini ya maisha marefu na bora. Pia ni wito kwa mataifa kuchukua hatua ili kuhakikisha upatikanaji wa dawa unakuwa wa haki na usawa, bila kumwacha mtu yeyote nyuma.Changamoto ya bei na usawa wa kiafyaChangamoto kubwa sasa ni bei kubwa ya dawa hizi mpya, ambazo zinaweza kufanya wagonjwa wengi kushindwa kuzipata.WHO inapendekeza mikakati ya kupunguza gharama na kuhakikisha dawa hizi zinapatikana kwenye ngazi ya huduma za msingi za afya.Deusdedit Mubangizi, Mkurugenzi wa Sera na Viwango vya Dawa WHO, anasema “Sehemu kubwa ya matumizi ya nje ya mfuko wa magonjwa yasiyoambukiza yanaelekezwa kwenye dawa, ikiwa ni pamoja na zile zinazoainishwa kama muhimu na ambazo kimsingi, zinapaswa kupatikana kwabei rahisi kwa kila mtu. Notes and Links to Joan Silber's Work    Joan Silber was raised in New Jersey and received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied writing with Grace Paley. She moved to New York after college and has made it her home ever since. She holds an M.A. from New York University. She's written ten books of fiction--most recently, Mercy, out in fall 2025.  Secrets of Happiness was a Washington Post Best Book of the year and a Kirkus Reviews Best Fiction of the Year.  Improvement won The National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction and the PEN/Faulkner Award.  She also received the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story.  Her other works of fiction include Fools, longlisted for the National Book Award and finalist for the PEN/Faulkner Award, The Size of the World, finalist for the Los Angeles Times Prize in Fiction, and Ideas of Heaven, finalist for the National Book Award and the Story Prize.  She's also written Lucky Us, In My Other Life, and In the City (to be reissued by Hagfish in 2026), and her first book, Household Words, won the PEN/Hemingway Award. She's the author of The Art of Time in Fiction, which looks at how fiction is shaped and determined by time, with examples from world writers.  Her short fiction has been chosen for the O. Henry Prize, Best American Short Stories, and the Pushcart Prize.  Stories have appeared in The New Yorker, Tin House, The Southern Review, Ploughshares, Zyzzyva, and other magazines. She's been the recipient of an Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts.
