What does it take to scale a service-based franchise while maintaining the passion and purpose that inspired it in the first place? For entrepreneurs and business owners, this is often a critical question as they seek to expand their ventures. In the latest episode of Fordify LIVE! The Business Growth Show, Ford Saeks dives into this topic with Ryan Wimpey, CEO of Tip Top K9, who has built a thriving dog training franchise from the ground up. Scaling a service-based franchise presents unique challenges, from managing operations to maintaining consistency across multiple locations. Ryan's journey with Tip Top K9 highlights how a clear vision and well-defined systems can bridge the gap between a small-scale business and a growing franchise network. The conversation sheds light on how aspiring franchise owners can focus on their strengths, streamline processes, and embrace strategies that drive success while keeping their passion at the forefront. Ford and Ryan discuss the crucial role of systems in scaling a franchise. With Tip Top K9, Ryan designed a business model that allows franchisees to concentrate on what they do best—training dogs and building relationships—while the corporate team handles billing, marketing, and backend support. This approach not only reduces the stress of managing the minutiae of business operations but also empowers franchisees to scale with confidence. Whether you're running a service-based business or managing a franchise, the takeaways from this discussion are applicable across industries. Another highlight of the episode is the focus on community engagement. Ryan shares how his team cultivates relationships with local influencers, such as veterinarians and groomers, and how these efforts fuel the growth of Tip Top K9's franchisees. Building strategic partnerships and staying visible in the community are essential elements of scaling a service-based franchise, and Ryan's approach offers inspiration for anyone looking to enhance their local impact. Throughout the episode, Ford and Ryan explore the mindset required for long-term franchise success. Ryan emphasizes the importance of perseverance and passion, particularly for aspiring entrepreneurs stepping into a franchise for the first time. By fostering a culture of support and collaboration, Ryan ensures that each Tip Top K9 franchisee is equipped to succeed, regardless of their prior experience in dog training or business ownership. Listeners also gain insight into how innovation plays a role in scaling. Ryan discusses the integration of technology and how Tip Top K9 adapts to meet the evolving needs of its franchisees and customers. This blend of traditional business values and modern tools is critical for sustaining growth in today's fast-paced business environment. Scaling a service-based franchise isn't just about numbers; it's about creating a business that aligns with the values of its owners and delivers consistent, exceptional experiences for customers. Ryan's passion for dogs and his commitment to empowering entrepreneurs are at the heart of Tip Top K9's success. This episode offers a wealth of inspiration for anyone looking to take their business to the next level while staying true to their mission. Watch the full episode on YouTube. About Ryan Wimpey Ryan Wimpey is the CEO and founder of Tip Top K9, a rapidly growing dog training franchise established in 2010. His journey into the dog training business began with a personal mission to address the behavioral challenges of his rescue dog, Curly. This experience sparked his passion for creating effective training methods, which led to the development of Tip Top K9's unique approach to classical conditioning-based training. Under Ryan's leadership, Tip Top K9 has grown from a single location in Oklahoma to a nationwide franchise with 19 active locations and plans for continued expansion. Known for its science-backed methods and commitment to structure and consistency, Tip Top K9 has transformed the lives of countless dogs and their owners. Ryan's philosophy is simple yet powerful: “If a training technique can't be taught to both a nine-year-old and a ninety-year-old, it doesn't belong in our program.” Ryan is dedicated to helping aspiring entrepreneurs build rewarding businesses by providing comprehensive support systems, including call centers, billing services, and marketing resources. His passion for dogs, combined with his innovative strategies, has positioned Tip Top K9 as a leader in the dog training industry. Ryan's mission is clear: to help people enjoy their dogs and turn their passion for animals into thriving businesses. In episode six of the latest season of the Courage My Friends podcast series, co-executive director of Food Secure Canada, Marissa Alexander and executive director of North York Harvest Food Bank, Ryan Noble discuss the alarming outcomes of Toronto's Who's Hungry report, the growing food and poverty crisis in Toronto and across Canada and urgent actions that need to be taken by policy-makers and civil society in averting this ever-worsening crisis. Reflecting on reasons for the record number of food banks visits this year, Noble says: “It's not as if there's been a sudden shock over the last year. What we're seeing is the continued culmination of insufficient supports for people, public and private, to deal with skyrocketing costs of living. .. whether those are employment supports, social assistance supports, settlement supports, to deal with an out of control cost of living, primarily driven by housing, but also by the cost of food and other essentials.” According to Alexander: “I don't think the systems are breaking down. I think the systems are working exactly as they were designed, which is not to support those who are the most marginalized and oppressed… like capitalism, but also the patriarchy, systemic racism and oppression ... So if we're going to make changes to ensuring that those people aren't "falling through the cracks," we have to make sure that those cracks aren't designed for them to fall through.” About today's guest:  Marissa (she/they) is a registered dietitian and co-executive director of Food Secure Canada, who is passionate about anti-racism, food security, and equity. They make an impact beyond the four walls of their stores. They do more than serve their customers. They want to serve the communities in which TCC conducts business. Under Ryan’s guidance through TCC’s Culture of Good, which enables others to do good in their communities for the value of the investment rather than the return on investment, TCC donated $1 million to Riley Hospital for Children; provided 250,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children; gave away supply packs to 5,000 teachers; and contributed $100,000 in grants to organizations focused on improving the environment. Now Ryan wants to help other organizations engage the hearts of their employees and customers to be passionate about making the changes they wish to see in the world. Ryan created Culture of Good, Inc. to inspire other businesses to create truly altruistic programs that make the world a better place. Tune in to today's interview with Ryan and found out how your business can impact your employees and their communities in remarkable ways. Special Guest: Ryan McCarty.
