Casting directors don't actually know what producers want at the start of the process — they're sending in choices to help define the role. So if you're trying to “play what they want,” you'll end up too vague to stand out. In this episode, Alyshia shares why specificity and authenticity are the keys to landing in the selection pile, why breakdowns are written for reps (not you), and how to stop wasting money on things like “actor slates.” Plus, learn how Slaytember flips the script: instead of paying for workshops where casting judges you, you'll work material for three weeks and then present it to award-winning CDs — including Victor Vasquez, Danny Gordon, and Jamie Castro — in a space where they've been invited to see YOU shine. This week, I dive into the world of quick tips—those little nuggets of advice that can sometimes make a big difference on the golf course. With a trained eye, I can sort through the noise (and the bullshit) that gets thrown around online to highlight what's actually helpful. While quick tips can definitely help in the moment, I also share why lasting improvement comes from sticking with the drills and guidance you've been given by a PGA professional. In a world obsessed with instant gratification, golf teaches us the value of patience and delayed rewards. If you want to truly build consistency and long-term success in your game, the smart move is to commit to the process rather than chasing the next “magic fix.”JOIN THE TITLEIST GIVEAWAY HEREWe love having Titleist as our main partner of the show! www.titleist.com.au

JOIN THE TITLEIST GIVEAWAY HEREWednesday Wisdom – Performance PracticeThis week I dive into the importance of performance practice and share a simple short game test you can use to measure your skills and track progress over time. The test covers different areas of your short game with a focus on proximity to the hole:5-foot putts – Count how many you hole.10m chip and run – Hit 10 balls, measure how far each finishes from the hole, then work out your average and total distance.30m pitch – Same process as the chip and run: measure proximity, record average and total distance.40ft lag putt – Again, measure proximity, average distance, and total distance.(Optional) Bunker shot (10–15m) – Add this in if you have time, tracking it the same way.Once you've got your benchmarks, the goal is to keep improving month by month. This is the type of practice that bridges the gap between range work and real on-course performance.JOIN THE TITLEIST GIVEAWAY HERE

In this short episode, Brent shares: Why distance control is the most underrated skill in golf Practical ways you can start dialing in your yardages Simple drills to help you hit it closer more often If you want to lower your scores, start thinking less about “perfect swings” and more about perfect distances.JOIN THE TITLEIST GIVEAWAY HERE

Alright, folks! Buckle up because today, we're diving into the wild world of the invisible stories that run our lives, and trust me, they can get a little wacky! I'm talking about those assumptions we cling to like a child to a teddy bear, thinking they're keeping us safe when really, they're just holding us back. Remember that time I dressed like I was about to conquer Mount Everest, only to step outside and melt faster than an ice cream cone on a summer day? Yeah, that's a perfect metaphor for how we overthink our decisions! Today, I'm sharing some honest-to-goodness wisdom about how these pesky little narratives are costing us not just our sanity but also opportunities galore. So, grab your favourite beverage and let's unravel these tales together—because the world needs your brilliance, and it's time to break free from those self-imposed chains! The Details:In a world where our brains are busy crafting elaborate tales about why we can't do something, it's time to flip the script! This Wednesday on the Choosing Happy Podcast, I took a hilarious yet enlightening trip down memory lane, well - yesterday, sharing the tale of my ill-fated dog walk that turned into a life lesson. We often get trapped in our own narratives, believing that our assumptions are facts. But guess what? They're just stories! And like bad sitcoms, they need to be cancelled! From thinking that following up is annoying to believing our pricing is too high for clients, we're unravelling these myths like a ball of yarn tangled in a cat's paws. Join me as I challenge you to audit your stories and take a leap of faith into evidence-based decision-making. Because let's be real, the only drama we need in our lives is the one on Netflix!Takeaways: Our internal stories often lead us to make assumptions that limit our potential, just like my dog walk saga! Don't let your mental narratives dictate your reality; test your assumptions and see what happens! Every assumption you haven't tested is a decision you're making on behalf of others—let them decide! Reality rarely matches our dramatic imaginations, so take action instead of getting stuck in your head! Challenge yourself to a little 'story audit' and find out which beliefs are holding you back from greatness! The world is waiting for what you have to offer, so stop hiding behind those old, untested stories! What happens when an actor stops waiting for the phone to ring—and starts building the damn set themselves? In this inspiring and action-packed episode, Alyshia sits down with actor, writer, and podcaster Matt Del Negro (City on a Hill, Scandal, The Sopranos, Mayor of Kingstown) to dive deep into what it really takes to get your own project off the ground. From brainstorming with trusted collaborators to navigating Kickstarter campaigns and tax-deductible donations—Matt's doing it all, and he's here to walk us through it. We explore his latest project, Mickey Brash, a gritty, character-driven indie film with a nostalgic 1970s Midwest vibe and a whole lot of heart. Matt shares how he's balancing creative control with practical limitations and how community—yes, your community—can make all the difference. Plus, we break down the evolution of his script Mickey Brasch, originally inspired by a TV role from 2013, shaped by feedback from actors like Chris Messina, and now a sharp, funny, father-daughter road movie with serious Blacklist buzz. If you've ever dreamed of creating your own content but didn't know where to start, this episode is your permission slip and your blueprint.

If you're tired of checking your inbox for auditions that aren't coming, this is your permission slip (and your kick in the ass) to take your power back.
