Murray Hill is larger than life. He's got a big personality, a positive outlook, an infectious style of banter, and an endearing demeanor. It is all presented in a colorful package, suit and all. But it is not just a persona. After chatting with him for just a few minutes, it is clear that he is the real deal. Talking to him is like talking to everyone's favorite guy at the bar. He's got stories, jokes, and opinions on life. He's also got a lot of talent that has taken him from the New York club scene to the stage and screen. You never know where he is going to pop up, from cameos in films to burlesque, from opening for rock bands to performing at parties for Liza, from performing in his one-man show Murry Hill As Himself to co-starring in the hit HBO show Somebody Somewhere. He's a throwback to classic Hollywood in the style of Benny Hill and Sammy Davis Jr. but with modern flair. He's unapologetically queer and has moved our community forward in media representation, but without pomp and circumstance, just a lot of heart. In this episode, we talk about the challenges Murray overcame in his youth, the importance of the New York City scene in the 90s, being true to yourself, the power of persistence, Murry's touring one-man show, the power of his HBO show Somebody Somewhere, having a little grace with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the power of comedy, and even a little Liza.Hosted by Alexander Rodriguez. @alexanderisonairCheck out our in-depth chat with him in the current issue of Metrosource or at Metrosource.com For info on Murray's tour head to Mistershowbiz.com

Have you ever known a frightfully talented family? The kind who seem blessed with charm, creativity, and success? Don't you just hate them!? Today, Todd Kramer and Jay Reum chat with 14-year-old Lois Miles. Lois, the daughter of an old friend John Miles and past podcast guest, actor Aimee Miles, has herself been acting for a decade, with roles in commercials, voice work, and a lineup of school and community theater. Currently, she's playing a teenage vampire in A Sign You Were Alive at Murphy's Creek Theatre in Northern California. We dive into her experiences growing up around actors, her ambitions, and what she finds most fun about being a young actor. John, Lois's father, is an actor and a concert promoter known as the unofficial “Godfather of Silent Disco”—he essentially invented it! We reminisce about our days working together and discuss how John's theater background paved the way for his entrepreneurial success. So, lock your doors and turn down the lights… it's the spooktacular Halloween episode of Offstage Acting! ※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※
Actors need photographs of their heads in order to sell themselves to those who are handing out the jobs. This is the most powerful, the most immediate means by which an actor can get themselves seen by the people who matter most… THE CASTING DIRECTOR. Known in the industry as "headshots", these photographic portraits are how an actor is able to initially kick in the doors and start garnering interest from THE CASTING DIRECTOR. But what makes for the perfect shot? Is it in the hair? They eyes? The smile? Picking the right cardigan…? Well, it's all of that and more. In this episode Todd Kramer picks over Jay Reum's newest batch of headshots to discuss and discover what makes for a winning look, the kind that grabs attention and lands that ever coveted AUDITION. It's part art, it's part science it's all Offstage Acting… ※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※
We've got a real treat for you! A man who's the Swiss Army knife of talent, Jonathan Broke. Jonathan is a quick-witted improvisational actor who can turn any seemingly dull suggestion into an on-the-spot comedy sketch! But Jonathan isn't all fun and games. He's also a legit "coaching psychologist." That's a professional who uses psychological theories and training to help people and groups improve their performance and well-being. So, Jonathan is a master of the mind, both on and offstage. He's like if Zigmund Freud and John Cleese had a love child and that child could impersonate both of his parents. In this episode Todd Kramer and Jay Reum explore the many layers of this one-of-a-kind performer—what drives him, how he taps into that creative well, (he's not-so-secret poshness) and maybe, just maybe, get some tips on how to survive those high-pressure moments in life. Episode 32 is pretty special this week as Todd Kramer and Jay Reum meet Bart Shatto, the man with a voice so big it could fill… well, imagine the biggest space that you can and then double it. Now double it again! We call that the "Shatto Effect." From belting out iconic roles in Les Misérables as the valiant Jean Valjean to rocking the stage in The Civil War and Hands on a Hardbody, Bart's journey through the world of theater is nothing short of legendary. And if you thought that was impressive, wait until you hear about his time with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, where he brought down the house with his electrifying performances. Today Todd is speaking to Italian actor Alexander Marchi. Alex is fluent in English, German and Italiano and performs in all 3 languages. Todd and Alex met years ago when Alex came to one of his workshops in London… and there's a story around that involving Mark Walberg and Ridley Scott, which they talk about in this episode. Alex is also a pharmacist who wasn't necessarily on an acting tract until his mid-20s when he bailed out of Italy and came to Bristol, England on a… let's call it a lark before landing in London. Now Alex's acting career just keeps gaining ground… It's an interesting story, a genuine working actor's story. Signore e signori, gadore Alex Marchi! HOMEPAGE IMDB ※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※
Today Jay Reum and Todd Kramer are talking with Helena Bunker. Fifteen years ago Helena went out the fringe to start a festival and she has yet to return! She has been a pivotal partner in creating, developing and organizing the Stockholm (that's in Sweden folks) Fringe Festival and has now begun to work on more all over the Nordic and Baltic regions with her partner Adam Potyrkus. Maybe you'd like to go out to the fringe sometime? Perhaps you are even considering creating your own festival out there but wonder what it takes? Well, Helena has plenty of experience starting a fringe festival from scratch in a place where nobody knows what that even means and without a lot of support from the "central art scene." Helena was a lot of fun to talk to and it was great to hear her insight into the highs and lows of a life on the fringe. https://stockholmfringe.com ※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※
Being a parent is a challenge for anyone of course but when you are an actor who needs to flexible, available and are essentially working freelance without a steady source of income… how do you get it done? We have spoken to a lot of parent actors on our program here but this episode Todd Kramer talks to Cassie Raine, co-founder and CEO of Parents (and Carers) in Performing Arts (or PIPA for short). PiPA is a charitable organization that works tirelessly to bring forth mandates, proposals, clarity and dialogue to the entertainment industry so that working actors, who are also parents can continue to work and raise their families within a caring and supportive industry that understands the job they do. So, here's to all the parents (and parent actors) out there for everything you do to raise your children right. Because there's nothing more heroic than that. HOMEPAGE IMDB ※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※
For actors… PRIVACY is pretty much the first thing that you have to hand over in trade for success. The more successful you become, the less privacy you will get. How should an actor use the online tools available to them? Some take full advantage… others scorn and denounce… many are oblivious and even lazy about it. Is there a strategy? In this continuation from Episode 26, Jay Reum and Todd Kramer discuss and share with you exactly what we do, don't do and should do as working actors to shine the spotlight on ourselves, stay relevant and raise our profiles. And there's nothing private about that… ※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※=※
Jeannette "JR" Robinson… has led one hell of a colorful life… Starting off as something of a “feral” child living in Jamaica Queens New York, then heading to Michigan to live with her Grandmother where, as a talented athlete, she started to excel in running… even training for and having Olympic aspirations and then as a teen having to go into care as a ward of the state after her grandmother's passing. JR has been living in London for over 25 years and has been pursuing a career in the arts since attending Goldsmith's University (very prestigious by the way). JR has been dealing with disability now for several years and is completing a full length play dedicated to the topic which she hopes will be produced here in London in 2025, so look out for that! Actors are a rare breed of animal. Most people hate to work and have too much of it. We love to work, but sometimes have a hard time finding it. Online profiles are an actor's calling card, their storefront where they market and sell their only product…. Today Jay Reum and Todd Kramer go over their own online profiles together. We talk about what to include, what to exclude, uploading video and audio-clips and showreels, choosing the right photos, updating all your credits and keeping your profile fresh. All of which play a part in staying attractive, getting the attention of casting directors and increasing the opportunities you need to ultimately get you paid acting jobs. So, if it's time to put your own profile online or you're just looking to tune-up your current profile… have a listen.

You definitely know DeWanda Wise from somewhere. She's made a splash on the big and the small screen, in titles like SHE'S GOTTA HAVE IT (the Netflix series) and JURASSIC WORLD DOMINION. Now she's starring in the horror film IMAGINARY, which just landed on VOD after being in theaters earlier this year.
