It's been said that in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. For proof of this statement, look no further than JJ Birden. A speedster out of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Birden ran track and field for the Ducks but wanted an opportunity to get on the football field. So he walked on…literally. How does someone with a single touchdown in his college career get drafted into the NFL? An opportunity. Birden would make that opportunity last eight years in the league, playing with some of the all-time greats. And it all comes back to seizing the moment…whether presented to you or not. This is the Mighty Oregon podcast and this is former Ducks wide receiver and hurdler, JJ Birden – Looking for a Chance.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In today's episode of The Hero of the Hour Podcast, Mark chats with JJ Birden, a former NFL Pro turned motivational keynote speaker. JJ was the #1 high school wide receiver in Oregon, however, he didn't receive a single D1 scholarship offer. He was fast enough, but at 5'9 and 133 lbs., JJ was just too small to play with the big boys. At least that's what the naysayers thought; JJ knew he was good enough, and he set his mind to achieving the impossible. All he needed was an opportunity, no matter how small, even if it meant making his own. He later went on to play 9 seasons in the NFL (an average NFL career is less than a quarter of that) despite never being the biggest, strongest or most physical guy on the field.During the episode, JJ explains how he defines a hero - someone who's out there taking the lead, and leading by example. Someone who sets the right example at the right pace. They talk about the importance of a good mindset, and why it's vital in any area of achievement, especially business.JJ also offers insights on finding the right mentor who can help you create a plan, and put a strategy together to achieve successes you couldn't have dreamed of before.Join Mark and JJ for this fascinating discussion!Enjoy! What You'll Learn in this Show:Why JJ has actually been more successful off the field than he did on, despite having a VERY successful NFL career. How JJ transitioned into network marketing following his NFL career. How anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries have changed in the NFL.And so much more...Resources:JJ's websiteJJ's LinkedInNortheast Private Client GroupMark B.
