Prof. Dr. med. Ute Lewitzka ist seit November 2024 Professorin für Suizidologie und Suizidprävention am Zentrum für Psychische Gesundheit der Universitätsklinik Frankfurt (Goethe-Universität). Zuvor war sie langjährig am Universitätsklinikum Dresden tätig, zuletzt als Oberärztin sowie Leiterin der Spezialisierten Ambulanz für Suizidgefährdete Menschen (SAsuMe) und der Arbeitsgruppe Suizidforschung. Ihre akademische Laufbahn führte sie unter anderem als Visiting Assistant Professor an die Dalhousie University in Halifax, Kanada. Nach ihrem Medizinstudium in Berlin und Dresden und der Facharztweiterbildung in Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie habilitierte sie 2018 an der TU Dresden zum Thema Suizidalität und affektive Störungen. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte liegen in der neurobiologischen und epidemiologischen Suizidforschung, der Suizidprävention sowie der Rolle von Lithium in der Suizidprävention.
