When Commander Adama gets pissed at the President, their game of civilization chicken spurs a mutiny in the fleet. But while Starbuck's side quest reveals exactly who is pregnant, the rest of season one's interesting questions remain mostly unanswered. What type of fuel do Raptors use? When should you throw away a toaster? Who had the weirdest day? It's the episode that‘s a little too incurious.Support the production of Greatest TrekGet a thing at podshop.biz!Sign up for our mailing list!Greatest Trek is produced by Wynde PriddySocial media is managed by Rob Adler and Bill TilleyMusic by Adam RaguseaFriends of DeSoto for: Labor | Democracy | JusticeDiscuss the show using the hashtag #GreatestTrek and find us on social media:YouTube | Facebook | X | Instagram | TikTok | Mastodon | Bluesky | ThreadsAnd check out these online communities run by FODs: Reddit | USS Hood Discord | Facebook group | Wikia | FriendsOfDeSoto.social
When Boomer stumbles on an inhabitable planet, President Roslin's hyper-religious pivot starts raising eyebrows on the Audrey 2. But while Dr. Baltar encourages Boomer to take herself out, Starbuck hatches a plan to blow up the damn basestar. Who was giving long shrift at STLV? How good could a Mission Log party be? Where are all the song sequels? It's the episode that identifies the second dumbest genius ever.Support the production of Greatest TrekGet a thing at podshop.biz!Sign up for our mailing list!Greatest Trek is produced by Wynde PriddySocial media is managed by Rob Adler and Bill TilleyMusic by Adam RaguseaFriends of DeSoto for: Labor | Democracy | JusticeDiscuss the show using the hashtag #GreatestTrek and find us on social media:YouTube | Facebook | X | Instagram | TikTok | Mastodon | Bluesky | ThreadsAnd check out these online communities run by FODs: Reddit | USS Hood Discord | Facebook group | Wikia | FriendsOfDeSoto.social
When the Quorum of Twelve doesn't stick to President Roslin's meeting agenda, she pulls Dr. Baltar close in order to keep Tom Zarek away. But when a mystery man gets interrogated after bringing a ceramic gun to Rex Manning Day, his death in custody raises questions about about the Tigh's luxury getaway. Who is not represented at podshop.biz? What does Star Trek Prodigy deserve? Which part of anarchy is kind of neat? When a Number Six shows up on Audrey 2, she provides Dr. Amarak's prescribed evidence that Dr. Baltar blew up the defense mainframe. But when Lieutenant Gaeta gets assigned to Project Magnify and Enhance, a desperate conversion to monotheism starts Gaius on both a redemption arc and a new method of Cylon detection. How does Boxey like his PB&J sandwiches? What has Grace Park never had on this show? Which unnerving reality still exists in bathrooms of the future? This episode's title is confusing because it really has nothing to do with the story being told. Instead, we have the psychological torture of Gaius Baltar, the gaslighting of Dualla by Lee Adama, an attempted murder by Gaeta, and a glorious scene where Roslin truly becomes unhinged.
The high from Chicago is long over, and yet there's plenty of Star Trek to discuss! This week, we cover off on a bit of light Star Trek news, which includes us NOT being invited to the Strange New Worlds NYC premiere! Which Johnson wouldn't go to anyway because he has other plans. And congrats to Wil Wheaton, who has a bestselling book on his hands! We then chat about this week's episode of Picard, "Monsters" - which Mike appreciates a bit more than Johnson. We decide to structure the conversation a bit more than usual and break things up into the A plot, B plot, and C plot - though sadly we don't get as much Jurati/Borg Queen in this episode.

In this episode, we went interstellar with our intercontinental ballistic missiles to talk about nuclear weapons in two science fiction shows: The Expanse and Battlestar Galactica. How are nuclear weapons used as weapons (and themes) in these two stories? What would the impact of a nuclear weapon actually be against a space ship? When are we getting our Gaius Baltar and Paolo Cortázar buddy comedy? William Adama! DIJOOPUTYERNAMEINTHEGOBLETTAFIYA?!?! Okay, probably not, but one way or another, Adama has been chosen to serve as one of five judges overseeing the trial of the century: Gaius Baltar versus . . . all of humanity. And it seems like not everyone has the right to a fair trial here in Battlestar Land because someone or something is trying to help Baltar's cat-toting kleptomaniacal lawyer shuffle off this mortal coil before he can get a chance to represent our dear Gaius. In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite TV series: the award-winning 2003-2009 American military science fiction television series "Battlestar Galactica". A re-imagining of the 1978 "Battlestar Galactica" TV series by Glen A. Larson, the show was developed by and Executively Produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, beginning as a three-hour miniseries before being followed by four regular seasons, whose premise tells the story of the Battlestar Galactica and its military crew as they lead and defend the last human survivors of the Twelve Colonies following a devastating sneak attack by an android race of their own creation known as the Cylons, as they search for the fabled thirteenth colony known as Earth. The series stars Edward James Olmos as Commander/Admiral William Adama (the commanding officer of Battlestar Galactica), Mary McDonnell as President Laura Roslin, Katee Sackhoff as Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, Jamie Bamber as Lee "Apollo" Adama (Admiral Adama's son), James Callis as Dr. Gaius Baltar, Tricia Hefler as Number Six, Grace Park as multiple versions of the Humanoid Cylon Number Eight, Michael Hogan as Saul Tigh (the executive officer of Battlestar Galactica), Aaron Douglas as Chief Galen Tyrol, Tahmoh Penikett as Karl "Helo" Agathon, Luciana Carro as Louanne "Kat" Katraine, as well as so many other amazing actors who play so many great and memorable characters throughout the series - including the character of Tom Zarek who is played by the late Richard Hatch, who was best known for playing the role of Apollo on the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message
In this bonus episode, Andrea's in the CIC with her most trusted science advisor Daniel Cohen (there's no way in hell y'all thought that might be Gaius Baltar) to talk about space travel, special relativity, and why "FTL drives" may be a bit of a misnomer. And even though we're missing SC1 Actual Caleb and our XO, Kitzy, Dr. Cohen makes sure there's at least ONE Futurama reference in this episode. In his own words, Daniel is "just what every Battlestar Galactica podcast needed: a white man with a graduate STEM degree and some opinions. A PhD protein chemist who sort of remembers undergrad physics and wanted to be on a podcast." In reality, Daniel is a smart scientist who is good at teaching science stuff to non-science people with little goldfish brains, and we had a super fun time trying to figure out if the BSG fleet really is traveling faster than light. If you can't get enough special relativity talk, here's a great explanation from Crash Course. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AInCqm5nCzw (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AInCqm5nCzw) Ants on a String. Actor, James Callis talks about Battlestar Galatica and why he initially didn't want the role of Gaius Baltar, landing his breakthrough role as one of Bridget's three best friends in Bridget Jones's Diary, his current work on the CBS's show Blood & Treasure, working with some very famous people he admires, terrible auditions he's been to and directing a very funny comedy short film.Great in Britain Radio can be heard on Podbean, Apple Podcasts ,YouTube & Spotify.Follow Great in Britain Radio and Gerald Tadworth on social media.Twitter@GreatinB_Radio @GeraldTadworth Instagram @greatibritainradio@geraldtadworth Facebook - www.facebook.com/greatinbritainradio Official website - www.greatinbritainradio.comYou can get in contact with us at info@greatinbritainmovie.com Great in Britain Radio is brought to you by the cult comedy movie Great in Britain: The Movie. RE-RELEASE! As we wait on the new season of Battlestar Galacticast, SYFY WIRE is re-releasing some of our favorite episodes. Today, it’s no more Mr. Nice Gaius! James Callis (Dr. Gaius Baltar) joins Tricia and Marc to discuss Season 1, Episode 7, “Six Degrees of Separation”. So say we all.
The Season 3 finale is a dense meal. The main course: Gaius Baltar's trial. It should come as no surprise to the listeners that Dean and Matthew pump their fists in triumph as Gaius beats the (trumped up) charges against him. JUSTICE FOR GAIUS! The second course: Lots of love for Lampkin and Lee. Dean and Matthew do have differing opinions on a few things, specifically - Rosalyn (Dean does admits his bias against her), but it's clear that they are HIGH on this episode. Dessert: Matthew and Dean demonstrate to you that they are big-time experts on trial procedure, and that you should seek them out for any legal counsel you need.
Everyone is suspicious of everyone and everyone may or may not be a cylon. Gaius Baltar is the only person having a good time lately.
Welcome to the thirteenth episode of season 3, on the now acclaimed podcast; Beers, Beats and Battlestar Galactica. Featuring your deep space explorers Leesa Charlotte and Cayley Waldo. An unnecessarily over-the-top episode that asks: Is this comedy? Are we doing it right? Featuring Six in shackles, Gaius Baltar torture porn, and Australian cow racing. Amanda Jean(-Luc Picard) talks about the myth of Kirk vs Picard and *Star Trek*'s very impactful, if flawed, ethos. (Seriously, she will fight you about James T. Kirk.) She gets real tl;dr about how both captains were shaped by the eras they were written in, how Gene Roddenberry was more complex than his legacy suggests, and how positing Kirk as the jock to Picard's nerd is reductive and sloppy. Also, tune in to find out the answers to burning questions like: When did queer folks actually appear in Trek canon? Why is internal conflict equally as important as external? And why did Trek writer Ronald D. Moore go on to pen the *Battlestar Galatica* reboot and the worst man ever, Gaius Baltar? **Content warnings:** Mentions of racism, colonialism, and misogyny.
No more Mr. Nice Gaius! James Callis (Dr. Gaius Baltar) joins Tricia and Marc to discuss Season 1, Episode 7, “Six Degrees of Separation”. So say we all.
Despite what the title may suggest, this episode is not about Kevin Bacon. But it is about Gaius Baltar, who is no longer a nice Gaius.

Due to some wiring issues, a good portion of this show is in mono. As usual, listening the following morning, it holds more weight and is much more successful than I thought. At the heart of this show is a recording that I've been sitting on for months, a field recording I made with Sandra, a woman at the playground who was visiting Brooklyn from Tennessee with her church group. Other samples include Gaius Baltar, Harryette Mullen, Mark Fisher, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Kid Lucky, Mtume Gant, Sujatha Baliga, Dennis Leroy Kangalee, Tracey Emin, Clyfford Still and more. In this episode, we're back in the present, managing season three's finale fallout. Mike bitches about waiting a year and a half for this excellent episode. Matt is happy that (most) everyone is happy for Kara. Pat doesn't understand why everyone's ready to sex up Gaius Baltar.
The trial of Gaius Baltar. Four of the Final Five revealed. And, as if that weren't enough, Kara's back. Pat pokes holes in Romo Lampkin's defense. Matt is swept up in the possibilities the Final Five present. Mike is ready for all this to happen again.
Gaius Baltar the Wacko™ aka "No more Mr. Nice Gaius" - God/religion - Comedic elements of these episodes - Amazing camera work
More love for Gaius Baltar as well as some fighter pilot chops from Lee Adama. Matthew and Dean lean towards this being the best physical action of the season. Matthew and Dean discuss the tonal shift with "Tigh Me Up" and how it seems oddly placed in the series. Ron D. Moore himself decided to "punt" on the original take of the episode which was to be much darker. The thought process was to let the audience come up for air after a heavy and dark preceding episode. The lads did find plenty to like this week especially as it relates to Gaius Baltar, and of course the titular, Saul Tigh and his tumultuous relationship with Ellen. Dean finally gets what he has been waiting for: more Gaius Baltar. He's been promising Matthew that Gaius is an interesting character, and Matthew is starting to see the light. The lads try to shed some light onto Gaius by evaluating him as a character. Is Gaius a man who has experienced an easy life because of his innate talents? Can he relate to Adama and the rest of the crew? Can Adama and the rest of the crew relate to him? Is Gaius a good person? Is he a bad person? How does he stack up against the rest of the crew in terms of value v. liability. No matter what the answers are - Gaius always provokes great discussion. Was er damit genau bezweckt bleibt ungewiss.
Matty P Radio Presents: Marks v. Pros & Saturday Morning Cereal
Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world, and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week, recorded on the eve of Inauguration Day 2017, we talk about the Presidential election of “a coward”, “weak”, “arrogant”, “narcissistic, self-centered, feckless and vain” man. No, it’s not who you think… This week we talk all about, Gaius frakkin’ Baltar with the man himself James Callis (Battlestar Galactica, Bridget Jones Diary, The Hollow). With a keen eye for political relevance Grim Shea, Marke. & Johnny Heck look for today’s answers in the sci-fi allegory of our times, Battlestar Galactica and more specifically, in one of the shows primary characters, Gaius Baltar, with the hopes of finding purpose in the wake of what many perceive as a “world” ending event. This has all happened before and it will happen again. So say we all!
