Were all of Paul's letters really written by Paul? It's common among scholars to divide up the thirteen letters of Paul into disputed and non-disputed, with many claiming Paul did not write 6 of the books in the NT. Cole and Terry work through these arguments and show that we can have confidence in Pauline authorship and the inspiration and authority of the epistles.

2 Corinthians 10:5 KJV | Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of ChristCommentary from study Bible Paul uses military terminology to describe this warfare against sin and Satan. God must be the commander in chief-even our thoughts must be submitted to his control if we want to survive the spiritual warfare all around us. Spirit-empowered believers must capture every thought and vield it to Christ. When exposed to ideas or opportunities that might lead to wrong desires or harmful beliefs, we have a choice: We can recognize the danger and turn away, or we can allow unhealthy thoughts to take us captive. We capture our fantasies and desires when we honestly admit them to the Lord and ask him to redirect our thinking. Ask God to give you the discernment to keep your thoughts focused on his truth.

Some years ago, I was coaching a church planter. I told him from the get-go, for you to be successful in planting a church, you need three things: people need to love the vision, people need to love you, and people need to love each other. These are all essential. If you miss one of these, it won't work. This was a gifted guy but the church plant was rocky; he would get a group of people together and they would sort of dwindle, and then it would build up again, then dwindle. At one point he called me up and said, “Do I really need a core group to plant this church?” I about lost it on him. When I stopped railing on him, I calmly said, “You are missing one of the essential things, a thing that if not present your church will fail. You have to connect this group not just to you, but, more importantly, to each other—they have to love each other.” Essential things. That is what we are talking about this Sunday as we start a brand new series called The Greatest of These. For the next six weeks, we are looking at a chapter in the Bible that is perhaps in the top five most recognizable passages in the whole Bible—Paul's treatise on Love from I Corinthians 13. So many things go into what we might call a God-formed life, but the tendency even in Paul's day was to favor the flashy over the mundane, the quick over the slow and steady, the one-off over the long obedience. This was happening to the church in Corinth. This is perhaps the most gifted church Paul planted, abounding in spiritual gifts, resources and abilities, and yet Paul tells them they are missing one essential thing—love. So as we embark on a new season of ministry, where we are using our gifts, resources and abilities to further the kingdom of Jesus in a place, it is wise to check our hearts and motives. God gives gifts and abilities unevenly to his body; but he gives his Spirit to all of us without measure, the chief fruit of which is love. Hope you'll join us Sunday as we talk about it. Also remember, Sunday School starts back for all ages this week. If you are new and want to know more about St. Patrick, we have a place for you to inquire in a class called “St. Patrick 101”. If you are interested in a deep dive into Genesis, we continue our study there from last year. Or if you need to be in a community that is wrestling with parenting, we also have that. Just show up, check your children in, make your way to the East wing of the building, grab a cup of delicious coffee, and join us.

While the Bible teaches Christians to be content, awe will discuss how there are certain aspects of life where discontentment can be righteous and necessary. Our focus will be on a conflict between the disciples of John the Baptist and Jesus, highlighting John's humility and his role in preparing the way for the Messiah. We will uncover the lessons this passage holds about contentment, servanthood, and the importance of identifying with Christ.Key Points Discussed:Contentment in the Bible:Paul's example of being content in all circumstances.Righteous Discontent:Understanding when it is appropriate to be discontent.John 3:22-26 – Setting and Situation:Jesus and his disciples baptizing in the Judean countryside. The dispute between John's disciples and a certain Jew over ceremonial washing.John the Baptist's humble response to the growing influence of Jesus' ministry.John the Baptist's Humility:John 3:27-30: John acknowledges his role and finds joy in Jesus' success. The metaphor of the bridegroom and the friend of the bridegroom. The lesson of embracing our God-given roles with contentment and joy.Avoiding Jealousy and Embracing God's Plan:The dangers of jealousy within ministry and among believers.Recognizing that our roles and blessings are determined by God.The Authority of Jesus:John 3:31-36: Jesus' divine origin, teaching, and authority. The urgency of trusting in Christ for eternal life. The stark contrast between belief and disbelief.Applying the Lessons:Embracing servanthood and identifying with Christ through baptism.Resisting temptation by relying on God's Word.Being content with our roles while fervently working to spread the Gospel.Call to Action:Reflect on your own life and ask yourself how you can serve others and advance Christ's kingdom. Embrace your role with contentment but let a righteous discontent drive you to share the Gospel and live out Christ's teachings more fervently. Consider the importance of baptism as a public declaration of your faith and commitment to discipleship.La Fayette, We Are Here!French history podcast for Americans, by a Frenchman. THE STORY OF JOSEPH - lesson 13 BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE Joseph - the prototype of Jesus As we continue to study the saga of Joseph we see things become difficult for Jacob. He is given the choice of death by starvation or to trust Judah, his 4th born son of Leah, allow him to take Benjamin, the youngest son and only surviving son of Rachel, to Egypt and hopefully get Simon back, get food, and, most importantly, bring back Benjamin. One might say Jacob is between a rock and a hard place. In this lesson we will hear Jacob say that he falls into the hands of El Shaddai, the Almighty God. The only Bible Jesus had and Paul was the Hebrew Scriptures (a.k.a. the Old Testament). In part 1 of lesson 95 we begin to see that this saga of Joseph and now his brothers and his dad, seems to be a way that Adonai teaches us about Himself. For many of us we know the "rest of the story" as did Jesus' talmideem (disciples) and later Paul. What this story teaches us about the Lord is so totally applicable to today. It is so totally applicable to the terrible situation Israel is in - the whole world turning against Israel and blaming them as being the terrorists and not Hamas. But, in this Torah lesson, in the saga of Joseph, we can see how Paul, a Torah scholar in hi sown right, came up with ... And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28) The only "Bible" Paul had was the Hebrew Scriptures. Torah, the first five books of the Bible, were the foundational books of the Bible. It seems clear to me that Paul's writings in all his letters was Torah based or based upon the teachings of his Rabbi, Messiah Yeshua, the Jesus the Christ. So, come join us as to study how this saga of Joseph was a powerful teaching (torah) from the Lord for all Israel coming out of Egypt, all Israel in Jesus' day, all Israel today, and for us. Check out the video (link below) that introduces us to this amazing connection between Joseph and Jesus. What is so awesome is God inspired Moses to write about Joseph 3400 years ago. Little did Moses know how his writing would help us today to see how God predicted His ultimate SAVIOR OF THE WORLD from the story of Joseph as the prototype. Here's the link to the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQKadh0fVCo Also, here's link to an awesome article at the website, "Hebrew4Christians." We dive deep into one of the most intriguing and controversial topics blending ancient texts and extraterrestrial theories: "Aliens In The Bible! The Elohim Are Real Alien Beings!" with special guest, Paul Wallis. Join us as we explore the ancient Hebrew texts where the term 'Elohim' is used. Wallis, an acclaimed author and researcher, brings a new perspective, suggesting that these 'Elohim' were not mythical deities but real alien beings. #103// Where does being anxious for nothing happen? Is it a spirit, soul or body activity? You could argue that it's definitely a spiritual activity because we find this command in the Bible (Paul to the Philippians). But then there's also the argument, born of the world, that says the *only* way to address anxiety effectively is through physical and/or medicinal means. And what about the *enlightened* crew out there who understands that the mind plays a big part in how our thinking impacts how we feel and what happens in our body? What if everyone is a little bit right? What if being anxious for nothing is all of them -- a spiritual activity, a soul activity and a physical body activity? What if the truth is: Being anxious for nothing has everything to do with every part of your triune being being properly aligned with each other and with Truth? (Spoiler Alert: That's totally what the Truth is!)In this episode of the Positioned to Prosper podcast I'm going to be walking us through the triune approach to being anxious for nothing. I'll share Biblical principles so you can see where the triune being framework comes from, and then I'll give you some practical strategies for your spirit, soul and body that you can engage with to see anxiety flee, and the peace that passes all understanding coming to guard your heart and mind, all while your body gets the memo that it can chill down and trust God fully.Sound good? If you're ready for this, I want you to grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!THE BEACON SUGAR DETOX IS COMING! Welcome to this episode recorded from the LIVE broadcast of the Prayer, Praise, & Worship Power Hour service of The Church Within You! Evangelist Rose Booker Denard of Orlando, Fla was our guest speaker and she truly blessed us with the WORD of God coming from Luke 11:1-4 and Galatians 5:22-23. The message topic was, Developing A Life Dedicated To Prayer! I pray that you pause and take a listen to this message where she searched the scriptures and delivered the WORD to us regarding how to develop a prayer-filled life. In the Bible Paul said; "Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit" (1 Thes. 5:17-19). This means that we should always have our minds on the things of God, be in constant communication with Him, trust, and believe that God hears our prayers at all times. I welcome you to take a few minutes out of your busy day and listen to this broadcast. There may be a blessing or two waiting for you! Remember to leave a comment in the comment section! Blessings, Elder Barbara

What are you aiming for in 2022- We need to get more specific if we are going to hit the target- Our first target is to make God's word the centre and priority of our lives-but why- Why make such a big deal about the Bible- Paul is going to help us see that its because of what the Bible is, what it can do and what God wants to do through it. Our attitude toward the Bible impacts everything we do. God wants to equip us for every good work. So let us make the most of the Lord's day as we come to study God's life-giving word together-
What is the true meaning of Christmas? As Christians, we know it has little to do with trees, presents, and reindeer. But what is it really about? Why is there a Christmas at all? Frank goes to an unlikely place to highlight why Christmas exists — the book of Galatians. There, the Apostle Paul fights for the truth of the gospel — the “good news”— the news that Christ has come to take our sin upon Himself and offer us forgiveness and righteousness for free. The greatest news in the history of the world is that God saves us by grace. Christianity would not be unique if it was just another works-based way to get to God. Grace sets people free from guilt, from rituals, from anxiety, and, most importantly, from our sins. Join Frank as he unpacks this from the first book of the Bible Paul ever wrote, with the most important message he ever wrote. In the Bible Paul often describes the Church as being a body. A healthy body is one where all the different parts are working together in Unity. To check the health of a body a paramedic will look for the vital signs. Find out some of Paul's vital signs for a healthy church in this message.
We're starting a new Bible Study on the book of Philippians! This is one of the books of the Bible Paul wrote from prison. Despite the dangers he was facing, Paul had a remarkable positive outlook! His letter teaches us to find joy in Christ no matter our circumstances. On our first session, we explore the historical background that helps us understand the issues facing the church in Philippi, and then dive into Philippians 1:1-11.
The Apostle to the Gentiles. The Apostle Paul**Note** Be sure to watch the last list item #10 as that is the most important. Was Paul a mere man? Well, Yes and No. Yes, Paul was a man in the flesh. And No, Paul was also a prominent spiritual leader in God's plan for the ages. We're going to look at several passages about Paul and make a list from scripture of God's purpose for Saul of Tarsus, the apostle Paul. But first I want to say this. We do we worship Paul! We worship the risen, glorified Lord Jesus Christ, Period. We do not worship Paul, in fact we worship no man after the flesh, not even Jesus. Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney ... We know by the Bible, certain things must happen before Jesus returns for the elect of God. * There will be wars and rumors of wars and famines, pestilences, and earthquakes. Matthew 24:6-9 Jesus says: And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. WWII was the worst war in the history of civilization according to Winston Churchill in his book The Gathering Storm. (Chapter 1) So far as pestilences, we've never seen anything like Coronavirus of 2020. There have been many pestilences in times past, but never before a pestilence that covered the entire world. *** * According to the apostle Paul, before Jesus returns there has to be a "falling away" where churches depart from some scriptures and antichrist moves into the church groups and the apostasy comes into the churches. 2 Thessalonians 2 3-4 KJV ... Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (of the Lord) shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. In 1982, God said to me: "The falling away are not people leaving the churches but the falling away are the church leaving the scriptures." In NASB the "falling away" is called "the apostasy". V.3 No one is to deceive you in any way! For it (the day of the Lord) will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. The apostasy had to come into the churches before Jesus could return for the elect of God. 6-8 NASB 6 And you know what restrains him now, so that he will be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only HE who now restrains will do so until HE is removed. 8 Then that lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will eliminate with the breath of HIS mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of HIS coming; In 2015, God called to my mind the word "restrains": I found this in the above scripture of NASB. I asked God, "What is it that restrains antichrist?" Instantly I heard, " Jesus, The Word, keeps antichrist out of the churches." And my understanding was opened by God. "When churches remove portions of scriptures or change scriptures, they remove Jesus (The Word) from the church and antichrist enters ... for only the scriptures, The Word which is Jesus, can keep antichrist out of the churches." And I knew this is what I had been seeing in churches for the past 40 years when pastors changed scriptures and were not ashamed of that which they had done when I talked with them about this. Some even admitted to me that the thing they had just taught was not in the Bible and they had just made it up. But there was no shame. In the end, in Revelation, we read even when the plagues were sent by God, they would not repent but they cursed God because of those plagues. Revelation 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give HIM glory. And then I understood what I had been seeing pastors do from the time I was born again in 1975, in the first church I went to after being born again. (That pastor was teaching tongues were of the devil ... while in the Bible Paul said, "forbid not to speak with tongues.") I Cor. 14:39 The apostasy was already taking place in the churches in 1975, and even centuries before as denominations broke away from the Holy Bible and set up their own groups eliminating scriptures as they chose to do and installing religious symbols not prescribed by Bible. This had to happen before Jesus could return for the elect, according to the apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 2:3. And the breaking away from Bible grew worse and worse as the time continued through the centuries. 2 Timothy 3 Paul says: 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come ... 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away ... 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth ... 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. To the end of this earth, church denominations will continue setting up their own doctrines and departing from portions of scripture in the Holy Bible and will grow worse and worse. Jesus will destroy the apostate church groups when HE returns to gather HIS elect. II Thessalonians 2:8-10 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of HIS mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of HIS coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. *** * Another thing that had to happen before Jesus could return for the elect is the gospel had to be taught through all the world. Matthew 24:14 Jesus says: And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. I believe we have seen this by Internet as well as by individuals who have spoken the gospel to all nations. *** The great tribulation of God comes: Jesus says: Matthew 24:29-31 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And HE shall send HIS angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. *** When we are taken into heaven to meet Jesus: 2 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep (dead), that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede/go before) them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. *** The apostle Peter tells us what we should do as we wait for the return of Jesus: 2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless. We keep ourselves in peace, without spot and blameless while we wait for the return of Jesus. We must not allow ourselves to be troubled by the apostate churches nor by the evil of those in this present world. For that will consume us. We must avoid those people and things that steal peace and cause us to depart from peace and joy of the Word of God. And we must not join them in the evil by rejecting the scriptures which would allow antichrist into our own selves. Matthew 24:12-13 Jesus says: And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Too often we think of the Godhead only in abstract terms. Christians believe in the Trinity but it's also pretty confusing! But in the “Greatest Chapter in the Bible” Paul takes advantage of describing how the amazing trio work together and how they want us to join their work no matter where we are… the marketplace, our neighborhood and in our community.

In some of the most succinct language in all the Bible Paul tells us why God does what he does. Paul reveals God's motives and his methods in the clearest terms possible. And it is because of these methods and motives of God that we can trust God to be the source of our faith.
Have you heard things like: "go with Jesus" "Jesus' words are more authoritative than anyone else in the Bible" "Paul was a little preachy, go with Jesus on this one" ?? These are all cunning examples of Red-Letter Christianity - the belief that Jesus' words spoken during his earthly ministry "trump" all else in God's Word. This teaching and idea is getting more traction all the time amongst progressive Christians and is seeping in to churches and through teachers' words... we need to know what it is and why it's false. And we need to argue for the authority and supremacy of scripture - since it is all God-breathed, and ... surprise! Jesus and God ARE ONE. Shownotes at kindledpodcast.com Sponsor: H. Today I had the honor of interviewing Paul Copan on a very sensitive and heavy topic; the skeptics claim that the God of the Bible is wicked and immoral. I ask Paul Copan the below questions in this video. I pray this interview will enlighten you, allow you to understand on to stand on the morality and love of God, and for those skeptics, I pray the interview opens your eyes to remove the bias and copy-and-paste arguments that many times are used. Remember, context is key...along with Covenantal understanding!1) Slavery: Is God calling slaves property or slave owners? Is God allowing slave owners to beat their slaves, without repercussion, as lon as they don't die? (Exodus 21:20-21)2) Rape: Why would God command a rape victim to marry the rapist? (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)3) Intentional Lying: If God is against lying and intentional deception, how can God justly send a "lying spirit" out to King Ahab" (1 Kings 22:20-22)4) Pedophilia: Is there a difference between the Western pedophilia push today and the belief, that in the first century, and earlier, many males were married to teenage girls?5) Murder: Did God command two bears to maul-to-death kids? (2 Kings 2:23-24)6) Human Sacrifice: Did Japhtheh kill his daughter via human sacrifice? (Judges 11:30-31)7) Genocide: Did God command the genocide of the Amalekites, to include infants? (1 Samuel 15:3)8) Child Sacrifice: How do you explain God's command to Abraham to sacrifice Isaac? (Genesis 22)9) Bashing Babies Against Rocks: Does God really bless someone who bashes babies against rocks? (Psalm 137:9)10) Abortions/Miscarriages: Did God truly cause miscarriages in the womb? Knowing the Bible for Yourself (Pt. 1) As one opens the Bible, one quickly comes to discover that what they hold in their hand is not a single book, but a volume of ancient literature (some 66 books). In fact, there are some 780, 000+ words all found sitting within a careful and purposeful grammatical structure with the oldest sections being more than 3 ½ thousand years in age and the most recent, 2000 years! There are many different ways in which God could have communicated his will to mankind; he could have appeared at a given location every fifty years to speak to man in person or sent an angel to speak on his behalf. Instead, God in His sovereign wisdom has chosen to communicate His message to mankind through the medium of written language. In this first teaching part, we ask the question; “Why do we need to interpret the Bible?” As soon as one begins to read any literature, the need for interpretation comes immediately into play!! This not only applies to the Bible, but all pieces of literature, because the underlying question that inevitably will arise is; “What does that mean?” You cannot escape this question, and as soon as one asks this question, one by default has moved into the realm of interpretation. The aim of all true Bible study is to uncover the plain meaning of the text so as to arrive at the proper understanding of truth. Having understood what God’s Word was to those first receiving it, we are then in a position to correctly apply the Word of God to our lives. What happens to people who have no access to a Bible? Paul anticipates the question as he shares how people are judged who have the law and how they are judged without the law. In this message we look at the truth that God has written his law on our hearts.

Part 13 – How do I Interpret the Bible? The claim of Holy Scripture is not that men wrote as it pleased their fancy but rather that “…holy men of God spake as they were moved (carried along) by the Holy Ghost” (2 Pet. 1:20). This fact becomes the key in answering questions that often arise concerning the compilation of the Bible, for example; why 66 books and not 67? What about so-called missing books - the Gospel of Thomas or Psalm 151? Who determined what books went into the Bible and what books didn’t? These questions are easily answerable when one understands that the Bible claims not mere human authorship but divine authorship! Then there is the matter of rightly dividing the Word of God. All too often, one will encounter Christians who have very little consistency when it comes to reading the Bible and even when they do read it, they do not really have any real method of approach to meaningful study. Often one will find that rather than studying the Bible, Christians will dabble with the text i.e. they will open it up and see which page it lands on and begin interpreting based on how they feel. In this thirteenth teaching part, we look in a very practical way at how to interpret the Bible by using multiple translations, cross-referencing, dictionaries and commentaries to first establish the true meaning of a passage (exegesis) so that the correct application might then be made (hermeneutics). Part 1 - The Bible It seems only right and proper that as we begin this teaching series dealing with the fundamental basics of the Christian Faith, we do so by looking first at the Bible. After all, in answering the question what we believe and why we believe it, as a Christian, our only source of full reliability is the Bible. Most certainly there are other credible sources from which to draw our knowledge, but all must be run through the litmus filter of God’s Word! Since we are going to be building this teaching series upon the foundation of the Holy Bible, it seems only right therefore that in starting, we begin by answering the question, what is the Bible? In this first part of this teaching series, we take a look at the character and nature of this precious book. We take a whistle stop tour through the Old and New Testaments before going on to look at the claims of Divine authorship. We then conclude by looking briefly at the manuscript evidence to support the reliability of the Bible. Download teaching notes (pdf) http://traffic.libsyn.com/bethesdashalom/1._The_Bible.pdf
September 4, 2016 By Pastor Jeff Alexander Philemon 1-25 Today’s message looks at an entire book of the Bible: Paul’s Letter to Philemon. In this 25-verse letter, we learn of a runaway slave named Onesimus, who came to faith in Christ after meeting Paul in Rome. Paul stands in the gap for the runaway, appealing to his master, Philemon, for his safe return. As you will see in this message, Christ has done the same for runaways like us! Let's see how the Lord Himself can use our lives to testify to His saving grace! Visit us at moconnect.org
A new mini-series begins with a focus on three fascinating characters in the Bible: Paul, Timothy and Epaphroditus. In this first message, Pastor Daniel Kriss gives a succinct summary of Paul’s life and then demonstrates how he operated with an eternal perspective. Paul never lost sight of the “Day of Christ” and this vision ensured […] The post Paul: A Man with Eternity in View (pt.1) appeared first on Mount Cathedral Baptist Church.

How We Got Our Bible (Pt. 1) To say that the Bible is unique is perhaps an understatement. No other book in the history of mankind has so served to shape and influence the lives of so many for the good than has the Bible. Written over a period of about 1500 years; comprised of 66 books written in three different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) on three different continents (Africa, Asia and Europe) by more than 40 different authors most of whom never met or knew each other, coming from totally different backgrounds. God inspired these men through the agency of His Holy Spirit to write down the exact revelation of His mind and will whilst at the same time making use of their individual personalities and characters. You have tax-collector by the name of Matthew, a Prime Minister by the name of Daniel, a shepherd by the name of Amos, a King by the name of David and a military general by the name of Joshua. You have a fisherman by the name of John, a cupbearer by the name of Nehemiah, a priest by the name of Ezekiel, a doctor by the name of Luke and so the list could continue!! Paul wrote from prison in Rome, Ezekiel from captivity in Babylon and John from exile on the Isle of Patmos. David wrote from his royal palace in Jerusalem and his son Solomon later did the same. Yet In spite of this, the 66 books of the Bible speak with such unanimity and consensus, a single voice that’s without contradiction. This teaching take's a look at the character of the Bible, its structure and it's composition. Download notes (pdf)http://traffic.libsyn.com/bethesdashalom/1_The_Character_of_the_Bible.pdf
