You don't need 100 people… you just need ONE.In this heartfelt sermon, “As You Sow,” Pastor Beto Rivas shares his vulnerable, faith-filled journey of sowing seeds in hard ground—preaching to empty chairs, losing possessions, battling discouragement—yet refusing to quit.Through powerful stories like C.T. Studd's generational conversion and real-life testimonies from Equatorial Guinea, Pastor Beto reminds us:
Today Andy Hawthorne continues his series on the ABCs of The Message Trust and explores the authority, necessity and sufficiency of the Bible.
The day of Pentecost was a moment that changed everything! The Holy Spirit descended, empowering the church to bear witness to Jesus and live out His mission in the world. But Pentecost wasn't just for one day; it marked the beginning of the Spirit's ongoing work in guiding, equipping, and transforming God's people across generations. In this series, we'll explore how the same Spirit who empowered the early church is alive and at work today. From uniting diverse people under Christ to guiding the church through complex challenges, the Spirit's presence invites us to trust God's leading in every season. Join us as we rediscover the power and presence of the Spirit, who continues to move in fresh and unexpected ways, calling us to live boldly for the Kingdom of God.
Sam Ward, UK CEO of The Message Trust, shares from John's gospel and 2 Corinthians on our Eden Sunday.
When you experience a significant loss, such as the death of a loved one, you may try to replace your grief and guilt with something that provides meaning and purpose. But replacement isn't healing. And you need healing. After Tim Tucker's wife Laura died, he wrote a book, Grief and Grace, to chronicle the six months of deep pain, loss, and grief that he experienced. He then remarried, welcomed a new child to join his three children from his first marriage, and took on a new job. But he felt God calling him to write another book on grief. In that book, Finding Life after Death, Tim shares more lessons he's learned and provides more support to others who are struggling with loss. You'll find healing and hope in our discussion with Tim.In 2013 Tim joined The Message Trust, founding the first international hub of The Message in Cape Town, South Africa, to reach urban youth through Gospel-centred and holistic discipleship programs. Recently, Tim joined The Message's global development team to guide operations across Africa.Tim is passionate about Africa and, in particular, investing in African leaders. His books include The Pace Setter, Grab a Towel, Grief and Grace, and his latest, Finding Life after Death.Tim is married to Christina. The couple and their four children reside in Cape Town. A wealth of resources from Tim are available at the Grab a Towel site. Connect with Timon Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Steve Small is passionate about Jesus and mission, especially in our urban estates and schemes. Steve is part of the staff team at Ivy Church leading us on deployment for mission. He has three young boys and is married to Sarah and together they head up the Eden Network for the Message Trust. Anthony says... “When I first came back to Manchester, Steve was one of the first people I met at Ivy Church where he had been a member for some years. From day one, the way he's always shone is through servanthood. Anyone who knows Steve will tell you he epitomises the phrase ‘servant leadership', always first to step up and bless others somehow. That kind of leadership is all too rare and that's why at Ivy we have a phrase that we all want to ‘Be More Steve.' God gives grace to the humble and I know you'll enjoy learning about the call and journey of Steve's life and ministry to where together with Sarah he now leads the Eden Network, going to the places of greatest need, where the church is in deepest decline, urban missionaries are raised up to live sacrificially, share Jesus joyfully, and build true community.”

Sunday 4th February, 2024 - West & North Sites Speaker - Gary Smith Gary begins by introducing The Message Trust for whom he works. The Message Trust is a worldwide movement passionately sharing the love of Jesus Christ in words and actions with the hardest-to-reach young people and communities. After a short introductory video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OkMzoHDjwE), he describes some of the encounters which have transformed the lives of those with whom The Message Trust has worked. Reading from John 4:4-26, Gary recounts the story of the woman at the well in Samaria who has a life-changing rendezvous with Jesus - a story which is a pattern for the way that we are to bring life to the damaged, hurting and lost around us. He describes the way that Jesus cuts through to the heart of the issue for the woman, and leads her to the revelation about Himself, and the Living Water He gives with the power to transform. Finally, Gary challenges us with his own paraphrase of the Lord's Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20. ------- Recorded at North Site - 04Feb2024

Many of us are aware of the rise of accessibility of pornography, and the damage it causes individuals and families, not to mention those involved in the industry. But talking to our kids about pornography - why to avoid it, how to avoid it and what to do if you encounter it - is another matter. To help us have those conversations, Anna was thrilled to chat to Ian Henderson, founder and CEO of Visible Ministries, including their flagship initiative the Naked Truth Project, which works to educate and inform young people about the destructive nature of porn. Ian and his wife moved to Manchester in 2001 to live and work in one of the most deprived areas for the Message Trust. Later he became Executive Director of Mission, before leaving to set up the Naked Truth Project in 2013. Ian still lives in Manchester; he and his wife have two teenage daughters. Servant leadership is a very trendy topic these days, but practically speaking it's one of the hardest things to do.Tim Tucker, Author of Grab a Towel: Christ-Centered Leadership for the 21st Century, has been through tremendous hardships in his life. Somehow, God has empowered him through those times of overwhelming grief and hardship to continually don the towel of servant leadership. Tim shares his compelling story of God's faithfulness in his life and how, often in spite of himself, the Lord used him to foster a movement in Africa. He credits his impact to the "steel spine" God provided him.Tim lives in Cape Town, South Africa and has a PhD in Practical Theology from North West University. In 2013 Tim joined The Message Trust, founding the first international hub of The Message in Cape Town, South Africa. They officially launched The Message South Africa in February 2014 with a focus on reaching tough urban youth through Gospel-centred and holistic discipleship programmes. In 2023, Tim joined the Message global development team and is responsible for the African region.Tim is passionate about Africa and, in particular, investing in African leaders. His first book, The Pace Setter, was published by Message Books in 2014. The second book, Grab a Towel: Christ-centered leadership for the 21st century, was released in May 2018. In 2019 he released an autobiographical book called Grief and Grace tracking his journey through the loss of his late wife.
