In a comeback story for the ages that crosses the sports spectrum, Jason bounced back from tearing an ACL in 2001 and the other ACL in 2002, before roaring back in 2003 to win the Heisman Trophy while leading Oklahoma to the National Championship game. He is a high school football coaching icon in the southwest, having been to 11 State Championship games, with 6 State Titles at the highest levels of Oklahoma and Arkansas high school football. He is currently the Head Coach at Owasso High School. * After losing the first 5 State Championship games as Head Coach, he won 3 6A state titles at Tulsa Union High School before resigning to pursue college coaching. He discusses the unique challenges that come with getting to the big stage and coming up short, and how that produced a great deal of character.* After serving as an assistant at the University of Tulsa for 4 years, he became Head Coach of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in 2011. A former TU Quarterback, he discusses the emotions of successfully making the transition from High School to Division 1, while taking over the program at his Alma mater. During his 4 year stint as HC at Tulsa, Coach Blankenship led the Golden Hurricane to a Conference USA division title, was named C-USA Coach of the Year, and won the Liberty Bowl. * He talks about being fired from TU in 2014, and the ways his faith was tested in those times, before re-emerging in the high school scene.
