The weight of being the preseason #1 team is very heavy. In 76 years of the AP poll there is only ONE team that started #1 and stayed that way throughout the entire season and won a National Championship - that was Florida State in 1999. While the CFP has given more leeway for the top ranked teams it's still a big target on your back to start the season. So who deserves to be ranked #1 in the preseason? McElroy makes the case for and against Texas, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Miami, Indiana and Georgia all to be the preseason #1 ranked team. Learn more about your ad choices. I went over the 3-minute IG time limit because I think this message is important and encouraging. Last night's OU victory was not just a win for Sooner Nation; it was a win for diversity in college baseball - more so, a win for diversity programs in baseball. @mlbdevelops @mbptakeover @astros_ya all had a hand in the fabric of the national championship team. These programs (and others like them) have been grinding for years with little attention, but their efforts are evident throughout the landscape of college baseball. OU had two African Americans in their everyday starting lineup, and both made the MCWS All-Tournament Team (Dasan Harris and Jason Walk). The Mercurius brothers (Xander and LJ) both contributed on the mound in Omaha, along with Jaden Barfield. These contributions at the highest level do not happen in a vacuum. There are parents, coaches, mentors, and programs that create environments where these young men can thrive. Congrats to Coach Skip Johnson and the entire OU staff.

What happens when the dream you've spent your entire life chasing comes to an end? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, Shane sits down with former NFL linebacker Brandon Siler to discuss identity, purpose, leadership, mental health, and life after professional sports. Brandon shares his journey from being a standout athlete at the University of Florida and captain of a National Championship team to spending six seasons in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs. But this conversation goes far beyond football. Together, Shane and Brandon explore what happens when your identity is tied to performance, why so many high achievers struggle after reaching their goals, and how men can build a life of purpose beyond success, status, and external accomplishments. They also discuss leadership, resilience, mental health, discipline, and the challenges many men face when navigating major life transitions. In this episode, you'll learn: • Why identity can become a trap for high performers • What happens when the thing that defines you is taken away • The connection between purpose, fulfillment, and mental health • Why many successful men struggle silently • Leadership lessons from the NFL that apply to everyday life • How discipline and accountability create long term success • The importance of building a legacy beyond your career • How to find meaning and purpose in your next chapter Whether you're an athlete, entrepreneur, business owner, father, leader, or someone navigating a major transition, this conversation offers practical wisdom on how to build a life rooted in purpose rather than performance alone. Stop trying to do it all. This Father's Day episode is your wake-up call—how to be the kind of dad, spouse, and leader who shows up when it matters. My special guest is Jay Bilas. You know Jay as one of ESPN's most trusted basketball voices. He joined ESPN in 1995 and has spent decades on the biggest stages in the sport, from College GameDay to the top men's college matchups every week, plus NBA Draft coverage and major studio shows. He is also the New York Times bestselling author of Toughness: Developing True Strength On and Off the Court. Jay was a four-year starter at Duke under Mike Krzyzewski from 1982 to 1986. His 1986 Duke team set the NCAA record for the most wins in a single season with 37. While Jay was an assistant coach under Krzyzewski, the Blue Devils won back-to-back National Championships in 1991 and 1992. Jay has also distinguished himself on Twitter, having been named to Sports Illustrated's “Twitter 100” for being among the 100 most essential Twitter follows in sports, and one of the 25 Most Powerful People in Sports Media by The Big Lead. Since 1992, Jay has been a licensed attorney with the law firm of Moore & Van Allen, PLLC, where he has specialized in commercial litigation. He serves on the National Board of the Coaches vs. Cancer Organization, the Board of Advisors of the Duke Brain Tumor Center, and the Board of Directors of The V Foundation for Cancer Research. This conversation isn't about basketball. It's about presence, priorities, and the quiet power of doing the right things when nobody's watching. In this episode, Jay gets real about: Why preparation is a form of toughness—and how it creates calm and confidence The trap of believing you can “have it all” (and what to do instead) The Father's Day truth that hits hard: what your family actually needs from you What kids remember most—and the simple standard that changes everything Jay's one-line job description for fathers: “Be there 100% when you're there.” This is your Father's Day wake-up call. Listen—and then make one change your family will feel this week. Follow Jay: @jbillis on X and Instagram.

The Texas Longhorns' softball may have battled back from the loser's bracket to reach the final's series, but they didn't need an extra game to top Texas Tech to hoist the National Championship trophy. Teagan Kavan was her usual Oklahoma City self, becoming the first player to earn WCWS Most Outstanding Player for a second time for her efforts from the circle, while the Longhorns' offense kept things easy for her. On the other diamond, the Texas men advanced to Omaha for the 39th time, after taking care of business against Oregon. The first game was an offensive explosion for Texas, but the pitching set the pace and ensured the Longhorns took the trip to the MCWS.

Send us Fan MailJosh and Lara discussed recent powerlifting competition results, including individual performances and team awards from various meets, though they noted limitations in their ability to fully analyze the team data due to time constraints. They previewed the upcoming National Championships where seven lifters from their community will compete, including Gwen Cook, Scott Berryman, Kenny Wright, Alicia Webb, Cindy Jaeger, Kevin Cegan, and Olivia Erling. The conversation covered USA Powerlifting's decision to eliminate the "Prime Time" qualification period, which resulted in more competitors being able to qualify but also reaching capacity limits, with Josh expressing mixed feelings about the change. They also discussed proper etiquette around filming lifts in the gym, debated whether lifters should continue recording when asked to stop, and shared information about a phone holder product called "Stick It To Me" designed for powerlifters.
