The standard/s which an audit may be conducted could be an organization’s own internal procedures/work instructions, a management system standard such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949; ISO 22000, “Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) customer-specified requirements; or government regulations such as FAA/Nadcap, NRC, etc...• Remote auditing has been a hot topic the last year, given the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, however, remote auditing has been around for over a decade. • Planning is key for understanding the risks to achieve audit objectives based upon the scopes/criteria, and most suitable/available technology, and auditor/auditee complete understanding of the (ICT) Information and Communications Technology platform/s to be used.• Companies, Registrars & Accreditation Organizations are now and must continue to reinvent and adapt for the “new normal” regarding “Remote Auditing” and figure out ways to achieve a balance in assuring Quality Management System conformance versus not auditing at all and maintaining the rigor & respect of a QMS and/or Accreditation program moving forward.• ISO 19011-Annex A.1-option and A.16 for remote and virtual auditing and the ISO/IEC 17021 has recognized remote auditing since 2011. Sitting in Mandraki Harbor in Rhodes Greece in my boat, I was surrounded by layers of history of exhausting effort and mortal combat driven by the conflict over whose God was the true God which belies the peaceful hustle and bustle of the port. Rhodes is the largest continuously occupied fortress city in the world. The Colossus of Rhodes stood here in 290 BC some six hundred years before the Nicaea council met to codify the rules of Christian worship. Through long periods, Rhodes was a center for trade in the Eastern Mediterranean. It was an open city. Open to ideas that flourished through the ages. Rhodes was a formidable military center. It was the central headquarters of the Knights of St. John during the crusades. No other religions we allowed to be practiced in the gates of the fortress except Christianity. The Knights of Saint John eventually were driven out of Rhodes by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1522. The siege took six months, 100,000s of men, and thousands of ships. Rhodes remained under Ottoman control until Italy seized Rhodes in 1912. During the Ottoman rule, all religions were allowed to practice. Here is a simple exercise in relationships between the physical past and the physical present. How much can you physically carry in your arms? Where you are going? What is the reason you are carrying your maximum load? How far do you need to go? Most of us experience this “personal load” carrying groceries or running through the airport dragging suitcases. In part 1, we introduced you to missing private investigator/FBI informant/cult expert Rick Post. Rick’s family had been trying in vain for months to get the police interested in his disappearance, but they had no luck until a defense attorney called in with an anonymous tip given to her by one of her clients. The client had told her that a man matching Rick’s description had been kidnapped and murdered in Mexico. The FBI jumped into the investigation when they realized that the missing man was one of their informants, and when they started interviewing the people closest to Rick, they soon realized that the anonymous tipster was none other than Rick’s best friend and business partner, John Krueger. And in the process of investigating him, they did some digging into Rick’s girlfriend Kim Bailey, too—a self made woman running a multimillion dollar company that peddled quack medicine. And when we left you, a conversation with Kim Bailey’s best friend Lana had revealed a disturbing conspiracy between Krueger and Kim Bailey—Krueger was mad that Rick wouldn’t give him more control over their PI agency, and Kim thought Rick had been cheating on her and embezzling from her company. They were about to hatch a seriously unpleasant plan. We all have paranoid moments sometimes. We catch our significant other looking at us funny and we wonder, “Uh oh, is he mad at me? What did I say?” Or we walk into the break room and a huddle of coworkers suddenly stops talking—and we think “Oh my God, they were talking about ME. I must be about to be fired!” We all do it, and more often than not we’re wrong. Usually, the consequence of that is nothing more serious than feeling like a doofus for a second. But paranoia was the most dangerous force on earth for the major players in the story we’re about to tell you. It began as the thinnest tendril of a whisper.
