Magnify Your Impact TV is an ongoing series featuring the world’s brightest philanthropists, entrepreneurs, motivational speakers, authors, and leaders. After 17 years of motivational speaking, I’ve had the privilege to meet incredible people that are living purpose-driven lives and working for the greater good on an unprecedented scale. During the interviews, I’ll dig into the “why” of what they have accomplished. My hope is that by sharing their ideas, we can accomplish the following: We’ll support the next generation of changemakers in ethical industries, green technologies, and financial inclusion. We’ll erase judgement and open our eyes to what makes us equal as human beings. For all of my interviewees, I am incredibly grateful for you volunteering time, telling your stories, and sharing the powerful ideas that make this series possible. If my series inspires you to share your story, I would love to hear all about it.

Strength in community and fighting inequality  A Ghanaian who has spent his life in the thick of it with no rose-tinted glasses. Francis's strength is having African blood, surrounded by a culture of community coupled with adversity and inequality. Whilst working in West Africa myself, to bring the opportunity of education to communities. Such a big part of my learning was in fact to give what is necessary and asked for, rather than what I thought was needed and this was a steeper learning curve than I could have anticipated. Francis echoes what took me some time to learn due to my culture, put so simply with a reflection of the love and positivity so readily available in West Africa. He has much clarity as to what this piece is. This is a must-watch for anyone who has a passion to work in this part of the world. Francis has a clear vision, with an admirable lack of ego. Knowing that ultimately it's the people who he is supporting that will make his cause a success. That's a key learning for me! This is a fresh and basic interview in all the right ways, speaking of foundations and simplicity as to what is needed. Francis doesn't talk of red tape, time management or how to recruit the right team around him. Although all of that which I've mentioned is important, I guess this is simply about purpose, humility and compassion. Let's Stay Connected

Grit, determination and courage personified After reading Economics and Politics at Exeter University, Sanger trained as a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young before moving to an advertising agency. Frustration with the decision-making process led Sanger to open his own business, a chain of sandwich bars in West London. David is an award-winning entrepreneur with experience in corporate acquisitions, shareholder exit and corporate sales, he has the ability to grow turnover & profitability. Key Takeaways Some of the things we do in our beginnings, specifically towards our work and bigger personal decisions, we realise that we could have made ones that were far more in keeping with the direction of who we are and what we want to achieve. Upon reflection and with hindsight we can look back and with a positive attitude can see that in their own way, these decisions have been monumental on our journey and have the potential to lead us to great things. David talks about his recognition of this piece.   In so many areas of our lives, we learn what we need through the contrast of experiencing that of which we don't. David has a fear of failure and an overwhelming need to win. It's of course an ongoing debate as to how much of our drivers we are born with versus our experiences in life that create these.    Something that definitely rings true for David, is that a will to win is born of confidence. I guess that can be confident in ourselves, a product or a cause, the ultimate would be all three.    The biggest piece David talks about is a winning culture and how to create that. He has a lot to say around this subject and I feel that he could give us all a master class on this. His clarity around the strategy and his passion to successfully achieve this is inspiring, and I believe if we were to listen to what he has to say and tick off his bullet points one by one, we would be very close to achieving this too.    After mentioning confidence, it is clear to see that David has this in spades and in every fibre of his body his statement ‘never forget the power of one individual' is born from his confidence. As he so rightly says ‘if you think you can or you can't, you're probably right!    In the process of creating meaningful impact, this is a great watch!   Let's Stay Connected   Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors   YouTube: https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/tv/   Connect with David Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/davidbsanger/

Magnify Your Impact with Caron Bradshaw

So skilful, humble and leading with strength from the very front  Caron Bradshaw is Chief Executive of Charity Finance Group. She joined CFG in June 2010 from the ICAEW, where she was Head of the Charity and Voluntary Sector. In addition to supporting a number of small charities and community organisations Caron has been a member of the NCVO's National Assembly and the Charities SORP Committee, has sat on a number of government working parties, is a member of the Church of England Pension Board's Audit and Risk Committee, and is Chair of the Board of the Directory of Social Change (and her local hockey club). Caron is a trained Barrister and has a wide array of experience across charity, regulation/law, policy, member support, and professional ethics. Caron is an avidly ‘social' CEO and was been named in the top 30 social CEOs in 2013, 2014 and 2015. In 2015 she was named Charity Principal of the Year at the Charity Times Awards. In 2016 she received the Association Excellence Award for Leadership. She was named in the top 30 UK social influences in Risk, Compliance and Regtech 2017 and in the Charity Times top 25 Influencers in the charity sector 2019. Key Takeaways A great conversation with Caron where we spent much time talking about the deeper structure of who we are, coupled with practical application. This is a lady who quite openly will discuss her hard times with as much passion and value as her greatest achievements. An example of this is discussing how before she had even started her studies as a barista, she represented her dad at a planning tribunal at just 15 years of age. Then in the next breath, we're talking about her experience of having a nervous breakdown. These very different experiences have added to her successes equally. Caron has a belief that we use the world to create platforms, as a means of expression - a way to express who we are and our purpose. Therefore spending quality time to know as much about our purpose is vital in order to get the most out of our time on this planet, to magnify our impact for ourselves and others. Talking practically about where she feels her strengths are as CEO of a charitable organisation, she has learned that a CEO position, certainly for her has very little to do with decision making. Caron talks about this with much clarity - her leading role is to ask the right questions to people that have far more experience in their field than she does. Effectively coaching them through a process for them to make valuable and impactful decisions. The way Caron works and her ability to articulate this has made this interview a great tool for us as leaders, emotionally and practically. There is a lot to take away. A true empathetic leader of both head and heart Carole has a broad knowledge of growing business through face to face development and sales knowledge. She's a risk-taker and entrepreneur, who loves coming up with new ideas, implementing them and then watching them develop (through hard work!) Carole specialises in Idea implementation - growing the business from an idea to a full-blown concern. Understanding people, what their needs are and then finding something they want! Key Takeaways A philanthropic mindset is something that I see a lot of and is, of course, a great support for the change we want to create. However, what I see in Carole is quite different to that. Holding two major focuses, one being entrepreneurship and the other charity, with these being of equal importance to her. As the purpose of these interviews are to help us all to magnify our impact, with a different slant on the psychology this is one to watch. Asking Carole what her main driver is, with no hesitation she was able to tell me it was a feeling of injustice. The injustice of individuals and communities living in and with ways that aren't necessary. Such a simple definition but this struck me. As a community of individuals that want to see change in the world, which is what I believe we are, the change that is not impossible and is absolutely right. Carole really got me thinking about injustice and where that sits with me. A great take away for me from talking to Carole was the advice to question myself regularly. To measure how much of me is coming from a place of privilege and how much of me is in touch with the reality of the situation. Carol always checks these two simple points and believes it's vital for her to do that. Watching others offers the potential for us to learn so much about ourselves. Let's continue to do this and grow. A courageous leader who combines a never say die attitude with heaps of compassion Started the Infusion100 movement 5 years ago as part of a fusion project to give back to communities around the world.  Since its inception, Infusion100 has built 5 schools and 1 house.  The 5 schools are in:  Malawi (2), Senegal, Haiti, Nicaragua and the house build is in Mexico. Over the 5 years over 8000 children have been educated as a result.  To raise the funds every year 100km is walked in different countries and so far 1300km has been walked in UK, Canada, China, USA, Hong Kong and Mexico.  Linoy has walked across the North Island of New Zealand over 600KM for charity in 1.5 months. A mother to a 24-year-old and currently works at HSBC as the GBM MENAT CIO.   My Key Takeaways My time with Linoy started off with us talking about her successfully getting 33 individuals to walk 100 kilometres, each raising £1000. This was the exact amount needed to build the first school, of which Linoy has built a further 5 more. The piece that struck me with Linoy's story, is that the people, her included did so with their own hands. You will see for yourself, that this is what really made the difference for what she was going to create next. What I'm talking about is an emotional investment, specifically a first hand one. I know this isn't always possible to get so practically involved but in some way, it seems that when we connect a vision to our very own selves, the potential for impact is magnified. Having the team you're working with personally invested too can only compound this. Speaking to Linoy about her path and what she believes led her there has a real positive story. Looking back she can see that her story helped her create a vision. That coupled with having the tools and the right people around her is what made it all possible. This is a great interview with much clarity from Linoy. Using her very own personal story, in detail, which showcases how our human, our skill and a heavy dose of perseverance can create truly impactful things.   Let's Stay Connected Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors   YouTube: https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/tv/ Connect with Linoy Website: https://infusion100.org/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/infusion100/

Nathan co-owns Hellfire Events, the country's toughest endurance race series, He is a lecturer at the University of Malta, the Malta Institute of Management and guest speaker at many educational conferences. Nathan graduated as a physiotherapist from the University of Malta and read an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate School of Business. He has won numerous awards both including Malta Social Entrepreneur of the Year, JCI Humanitarian Leadership, Malta Sports Award, and is a top 10% worldwide age group Ironman Athlete. My Key Takeaways Nathan has pushed himself both physically and mentally for much of his life and in this interview shares his strategies for his success with much clarity. The more I do these interviews, as obvious a point as this may sound, it becomes not just a belief but a fact that our successes are all to do with the mind and heart, not our skills. Our skills are what we gain in order to support this but they are not the driver and the level at which Nathan has succeeded and how he got there definitely highlights this point, although I'd like to add, he clearly has huge skill!   When I ask him what it is he does or tells himself in order to keep going when things are at there toughest, he tells me how his strategies have evolved over time; as he has evolved, so have his strategies. This piece to me was very powerful as it highlights the need for flexibility and self-awareness - if Nathan had have continued without evolving how he does things, perhaps he wouldn't have been so successful. I can definitely relate to this and the way in which I run my deeper structure internally, this has changed hugely. Nathan, throughout our time together talks in intrinsic detail about strategies, how they change, why they change, how that supports us and the awareness of ourselves which we need so as to be as effective as possible.   There's lots of detail within this great interview that organically took the direction of our internal world, rather than our external world. Diving into the deeper structure of our successes  Udayan has been a keen proponent of the fast-changing landscape of Financial Services in the transition from an industrial era to the information age and now to the networked economy. He fell into the intersection of Financial Services and technology well before the term FinTech was coined and traversed the Growth Markets when they were called frontier markets. His global experience began as the son of a diplomat living across multiple continents with his working life commencing in traditional investment banking and transitioning through to investing and entrepreneurship. Prior to co-founding Apis, Udayan co-founded and led Anthemis Group, the first specialist global investor in FinTech based in London where he made 32 investments including well-known names such as Simple, Betterment and Trov. Prior to that, he was Global Head of Financial Technology Advisory at Deutsche Bank. Udayan lives in London, is married with two children, and enjoys trying out innovative spinning studios to work off his passion for food and wine wherever his Apis travels take him. Key Takeaways Udayan needed no encouragement to get to a level of conversation that was very much values-driven. The deeper structure of our successes was the focus of our time together. I believe this to be very valuable as this is what everything we do is built on and clearly so does he. There was a direct question that I put to Udayan with regards outcomes and legacy and there were many more indirect questions that had this theme running through them. Every time He would go to a micro place which isn't necessarily what you'd expect from someone who has built so much at a macro level. We did talk about this in more depth and Udayan works by looking at the successes of what is directly in front of him first - his family, relationships, work. Knowing that everything is working at a micro place, with a trust that the consequence will be far-reaching and flow at a macro level. He even mentioned that how someone treats the waiting staff in a restaurant, will impact their future relationship, be it business or otherwise.  This struck me as a powerful yet very simple place to come from, especially with the knowledge of doing so and using it as a conscious tool. Udayan clearly loves his knowledge and has a strong belief that this is much more powerful than capital. Knowledge is what makes what we're doing sustainable -capital can rise and of course, fall but knowledge and the willingness to learn is what will get us through. My time with Udayan was rich. Talking about everything from identity and growth to the inequality of wealth. Also, the three things that he feels have been vital to him, which are perseverance, optimism and empathy, with a heavy dose of gratitude.  Enjoy! A key focus of Yolan's career has been leadership development and strategy facilitation, Yolan was invited to participate in the Crans Montana Forum in 2015 and was selected as a GreenMatter Senior Fellow in 2014. My Key takeaways Something Yolan and I discussed much in different ways throughout our time together was leadership - the definition of a leader, through to what a leader demonstrates. I feel that Yolan is qualified to speak with the clarity she does and I believe that you would agree with that statement if you too were to listen to this great interview.  Her whole career has revolved around passion, purpose and impact. She knew from a young age that this would need to be the case In order for her to feel satisfied. Yolan shares some great wisdom around having an open and flexible direction and how this pays off. There are many different causes we can feel compelled to create real impact within but the way in which we can impact is vast. This is where Yolan feels we need the greatest flexibility. Whilst joining or building a team for a not for profit, we must always keep in mind that this is the most vital part of the process for success; the right team of people is paramount as we grow something that inspires us - alongside the initial cause, it's these people that will give us the inspiration to carry on when it all appears to be too much to handle and these times will arise! Magnify Your Impact with Felix Finkbeiner

A millennial leader with a true global vision At 9 years old, Felix Finkbeiner, inspired by the story of Kenyan politician and environmental activist Wangari Maathai, developed the idea that children could promote climate justice by planting a million trees in every country. With the support of children from over 100 countries, Felix launched the youth initiative Plant-for-the-Planet in 2007. So far, more than 85,000 youth in 76 countries have been trained in Plant-for-the-Planet Academies. As Climate Justice Ambassadors, the children give speeches to adults, motivate everyone to plant trees and fight for their future. Today, Felix is a PhD candidate at ETH Zurich studying the potential of forest restoration in addressing the climate crisis. Plant-for-the-planet.org My key takeaways Felix has a fascinating story. At 9 years old he started something which has grown from strength to strength. Now at the age of 22, his focus hasn't changed. A lady from Kenya who created a movement that after 30 years, was responsible for the planting of 30 million trees across East Africa. This inspired Felix, at such a young age and with the support and input of his immediate family, they grew what is now recognised in many parts of the world - Plant for the Planet. Questions that I ask Felix throughout this interview around starting something so young and his answers that follow got me thinking that perhaps, not to underestimate the hard work undertaken by him, his family and the over one hundred individuals working on the cause, it seems to me it was the persistence and ‘why not' attitude that comes with being a child that lifted this off the ground 13 years ago. No defences or hatred but honesty and love with minimal fear. All of which are forces hard to argue with. Felix mentions something about the need for conviction that struck me as powerful. He said that real conviction doesn't come with expectations, it just is. To have an expectation, you first need to understand what isn't the expectation which could be, in a word, expressed as doubt. In essence, conviction doesn't allow for doubt. Now studying for his PhD to further improve the impact he has already created - such a lack of arrogance knowing that he can never know too much about his cause and the best ways in which to challenge and tackle it. Felix definitely has conviction! A renowned Professor of Epidemiology who has saved many millions of lives Alan Fenwick OBE is a world-renowned scientist in the field of epidemiology and parasitology. He's dedicated 35 years to researching schistosomiasis, a disease caused by water-borne parasites mainly in Sudan, Tanzania, and Egypt. Following his return to the UK, he established the Schistosomiasis Control Initiative (SCI) that aids in treating parasitic diseases in millions of affected children and adults. His work has attracted attention from philanthropist Bill Gates, the World Health Organization, and earned him an OBE from the British Government. Now retired, he is a guest speaker at various universities across the UK.  My Key Takeaways For those who already know me, you'll know I spend much time in a macro world. Then I talk to Alan, who starts at the most micro place possible, literally inside of ourselves. He studies minute parasites that live within us focusing on how they affect us genetically and from the perspective of disease. It's beyond fascinating how something so small can take over something so big in comparison to itself (our bodies) as a host, creating a culture, adjusting the environment inside of us, for the purpose of its own existence, often to the detriment of the host.  This got me thinking as to how remarkably similar we are as humans - taking over something so big, in comparison to ourselves, creating a culture, adjusting the environment for the purpose of our own existence, often to the detriment of our host, the planet.  A huge learning for me from my time with Alan is to understand the bigger picture. We first have to understand at the most micro level. Alan talks with an immense amount of knowledge and clarity about a particular parasite, he gets right inside the problem. To begin with, he knows much more about this than he does the solution and it seems he doesn't begin to find a solution until he knows intrinsically what he's up against. What it doesn't like, what it needs to survive, how it travels, it seems there is nothing he doesn't know about something so small.  Our feasibility studies, research of what the problem is, Alan says is vital to the solution. We need to become detectives and leave no stone unturned. This must come first before we implement the thing we are all so passionate about, which is change to often such an unjust cause! This interview can teach us so much about the benefit of patience when at the same time we are faced with the dichotomy of being up against the clock. Being wiser and eventually one step ahead of the problem. It's invaluable advice! An education trailblazer restructuring opportunities for future young leaders Simon Andrews gained his entrepreneur motivation in 1999 when he recognized the unsolved challenge facing graduates that were trying to find employment opportunities. Andrews and his friend Chris Morling worked together to create a portal that enabled these individuals to achieve self-growth through employment or furthering their education.  My Key Takeaways My time with Simon flitted between what we need to do for ourselves, what we need to do for the success of our work and the synergy between the two. If we think about what nature means, we might go to balance, the ecosystem, how we support it and of course how we can jeopardise it. How powerful would it be to mirror that onto the nature of ourselves - what's our balance, ecosystem and how do we support it? There is I'm sure many similarities. Simon spoke with much clarity about nurturing his own internal environment, that in turn supports him to nurture his outside environment, by purposefully putting himself in challenging environments. I've reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro which was a massive achievement but this guy takes it to another level. He spoke about the impact this has on his charity, business and personal life and the value of the discomfort.  Discomfort has often been vital for people who've achieved great things, even though their language, in past tense, will refer to the positive within it. The mindset of ‘hello fear and discomfort, thank you for letting me know I'm onto something!”, this is powerful. Simon feels that failure is a valuable cog in the wheel of success. Without it, success just doesn't taste the same and may not reach the level of the impact we first set out to create. Maybe, in essence, failure should be included in our business plan, wouldn't that be novel! Metaphorically climbing a mountain, the summit is always there but the path to get there and the obstacles and straight runs will change. That doesn't make reaching the summit unattainable but instead different, it's still just as doable.   Let's stay connected Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors   YouTube: https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/tv/ *Connect with Simon* https://www.linkedin.com/in/simonpandrews/ *Check out Studee* Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/studeeinternational/   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/studeeinternational/   Twitter: https://twitter.com/Studeedotcom   LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/studee-com/

The wisdom of an environmentalist, an expert guide to living in balance with our Planet Tom Brzostowski is a philanthropist with a science background and over 10 years of experience working in international conservation. He worked five years for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and now serves as the Director of Development for The Nature Conservancy in New Zealand. Brzostowski cares deeply about the natural world and wants to inspire others to help balance saving the planet with caring for ourselves.  My Key Takeaways My interview with Tom was a very real one about the outstanding beauty of this planet and also the potential devastation we could face if we don't make radical changes. Tom speaks from the heart, with much proof, based on years of study and observation of our natural environment. Is the situation we all find ourselves in with regards changeable weather patterns and the extinction of over one million species of plants, insects and animals, a result of what we don't seem to be prepared to do to change it. I'd like to believe this isn't an innate mentality where so much of our problems lie! Our planet is in a critical place and although we all have different views as to why this is, we have to accept that at least some of this is due to our selfishness and greed. For our cause to have lasting impact, we need to imbed a culture that has the potential to create the opposite. The teams we build and the projects we embark on.  Listening to Tom, what did become more apparent than ever, was how vital positive impact is. There is a desperate need for more change-makers, visionaries with growth, love and compassion at their heart and I believe it's easier now than it has ever been; we have knowledge at our fingertips, there is more money than there has ever been and there's a queue of people waiting to join our train if we just ask. With a mission of helping others, Rev Philippe Ouedraogo talks leadership from a place of faith Reverend Philippe Ouedraogo, Executive Director of AEAD, has dedicated his life's purpose to making the world a better place since he was young. AEAD is a charity in Burkina Faso focused on helping the poor and needy through health, environmental, and educational programs that are faith-driven. Guided by faith, he attributes his calling to his educational background and the examples set by his parents and community growing up.  My Key Takeaways Philippe has been an inspiration to me in so many ways. I first met him 12 years ago after a friend insisted I should get on a plane and travel to Burkina Faso, West Africa, to meet one of the greatest leaders he himself had ever had the pleasure of meeting. I couldn't resist. Little did I know it would take me on a positively irreversible journey! From a young age, his dad was his biggest inspiration. Philippe intrinsically knew his purpose. Being born into one of the poorest countries in the world, witnessing and being subjected to the devastation of poverty and civil war, he travelled miles to be educated in Burkina Faso, which later earned him an opportunity to study in the U.K. where he gained his PhD in girls and women's education in Burkina Faso. He has since been instrumental in the development of 150 plus schools and an advisory to the Government for Education in Burkina Faso. Philippe is as close to selfless as I've ever met. When I ask him where does this come from, he says his faith, every time! He sees himself as a vessel to deliver compassion and love and there are no lengths at which he won't go in order to serve his community and country. Whether in religion, spirituality or a cause, it's beyond clear a deep belief for something that has the power to take us on a journey to create meaningful change like nothing else! I have never met such a fearless yet gentle man. His absence of fear means he has no boundaries as to the lengths in which he will go for what he believes is right. A truly remarkable human being! A leader with great clarity of purpose and strong actionable goals Elsbeth Dixon joined Common Purpose South Africa in 2006. The organization is focused on leadership development. They work globally to develop nimble leaders without borders that can implement problem-solving to make their cities a better place. As an applied mathematician, she's used her natural precision and decisiveness skills to make an impact - by vision and actualizing. Dixon mentions that she is conscientious of where she pours her energy; she wants all of her efforts to bear fruit. She views the path to making a difference as sequential and logical, which landed her in leadership development.  My Key Takeaways “The world is our classroom.” These are the words that Elsbeth used. Of course, when we hear them, they sound obvious but before we hear them, we may not consciously realise the power of that statement. Take this time to think about how big that classroom really is and the potential it holds, if we're prepared to be the most observant student, taking advantage of this hugely valuable education at our fingertips.  Elsbeth also talked about collaboration being an absolute must. The attitude of the world being our classroom lends itself so well to this. It's through collaboration, connection and conversation with others that we so often find the how for our cause and gain the much-needed support and knowledge for the success of the impact we want to create. We consciously go to such lengths to create the right meetings, with the right people and this is of course extremely valuable. Elsbeth mentions some of her most salient moments have come at the most unexpected times - a less professional time, in the middle of the night, in her pyjamas. We need to have more trust in what we don't yet know and what I mean by that, is by opening ourselves up to the less obvious, this is where we so often become much more open to diversity in our thinking and our light bulb moments are created. This openness allows us to hear in such a powerful way and that hearing will only broaden our minds and horizons. The level of self-reflection this has the potential to lead to is the potential of the impact we're setting out to create. One great mind is all that is needed to start a hugely impactful machine. This interview took me to so many places, through the powerful words that mean so much to Elsbeth; conviction, collaboration, contradiction, transparency, courage and trust. A truly inspiring and creative entrepreneur, with a real philanthropic focus Jamie Waller is an entrepreneur, author and philanthropist. His book Unsexy Business encapsulates his approach: be extraordinary in ordinary places and great things will come of it. Waller came from a difficult home and school environment in the UK. These formative experiences set him on the path to helping others in the same situation - then coming full circle to start more of his own organizations to inspire others. Waller has built and sold multiple businesses in finance, fintech, consultancy, and software industries. My Key Takeaways Jamie tells a graphic and remarkably honest story as to how he has got to where he is, the reasons behind his philanthropy and his heartfelt contribution to a cause that means so much to him personally. This interview isn't about a skill set, it's about a mind and heart set. We all have a mind and a heart and if we follow Jamie's approach, it can only come with reward!  All of Jamie's success is purpose-driven and he shares with immense clarity as to where this comes from practically and emotionally. He has a deep set of values that drive his purpose but it's his purpose he relates to at the level of emotion and the most powerful learning for me is the depth at which he knows this. There was no question I posed to Jamie about his purpose, reason, why he's done what he's done or what he plans to do next, that he struggled with. As he so rightly says, you cannot lose when you approach life in this way if it's truth, authenticity and meaning you want to experience. Being so set on his purpose creates a discipline that makes all his achievements possible. His reason for contribution is connected to his own life experience and again his clarity around this is off the scale. His gratitude for not only his success but the adversity he has experienced radiates from him. If you want to learn more about the importance of purpose, whilst engaging into a positive, down to earth, real story, then this one is for you. World-Renowned Family Advisor and Socially Focused Entrepreneur Reg Athwal is the founder of RTS Global Partners, the leading family business advisory platform for Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Their aim is to provide solutions so that family-owned businesses are setting goals towards scaling and leaving a legacy. Additionally, Athwal is a well sought out motivational speaker, author, and angel investor.  My Key Takeaways I believe, one of Regs greatest talents is how he leads with both his head and heart in balance. He has that innate ability to recognise his spiritual and cognitive intelligence. Spending time with him can only grow your sensory awareness and your emotional strength.  Reg remembers a pivotal moment in his life that catapulted him into the journey he is still on and will remain on for the rest of his life.  At that time there was a vibration, a feeling within him that he won't forget. That vibration, as he calls it, has been his check-in since, as to whether something is right or wrong for him to furthermore invest his time and emotion. We may not all have a pivotal moment that we can bring to mind but most of us can relate to this vibration, I guess we may refer to it as our intuition. Going on what Reg says, we should pay more attention to that and trust it much more than we do. Moments in our lives, whether we remember them or not, are definitely pivotal. Through our perception of an experience, we then choose to go left or right. Some of this will be genetic influence, some our subjective experience and of course our living influences but either way they shape our destiny, that to me says there are many pivotal moments! Knowing these exist will affect our degree of impact. We should pay close attention to how we are going to choose to use them to create our success, with a clear vision of what that is to us. Reg's view of success is valuable, being aware that our view of our ideals of success will evolve throughout our life - when in his 20's, for Reg it was material whilst in his 40's, it's been about contribution and connection.  My main take from my time with Reg was clarity of my purpose-driven intention, with the flexibility for my vehicle to change. The vehicle isn't the piece that gives what we're doing legs, it's something deeper than that! His strengths lie in how he builds relationships within organizations that foster a desire for presence and connection within the space. Hamilton practices socially-conscious investing as an angel investor for multiple ventures as well as his philanthropy work for 1moreChild in Africa. My Key Takeaways I really enjoyed my interview with Rob. Mainly because he consciously knows his strategy and exactly how it supports the growth of whatever it is he's trying to change or impact at the time. He has much flexibility with how things develop but his strategy is a mindset approach and that never seems to waver. Rob takes very specific steps, the first knowing what it is he wants to achieve exactly, with the last being achieving the goal he set in the first place. In between those two places he puts everything into bite-size chunks, using language such as sprints and goals. His explanation of this process is by far more in-depth than I have just described and his description highlights the value that we could all reap from such a strategy - simplistic yet very effective! Rob also talks about openness with employees, clients and beneficiaries. We're generally much happier to share when things are going well but the key is to share when they're not. In Rob's experience this allows for all involved to address and utilise their attributes and skills to collectively make a difference. He recalls this is when the true and more long term culture of his company was realised and believes it was the catapult for the many years of success that followed. Lindley places the value of businesses on creating a culture of learning and growth where people want to be together, feel purposeful and are aligned behind a mission. After achieving the personal goal of scaling Ella's Kitchen,  he set his sights on socially conscious investing. He co-founded The Key is E, a charity that enables young, African social entrepreneurs towards finding purpose and actualizing their goals. My key takeaways Over the years I've had many nicknames that refer to my childlike qualities. My time with Paul was music to my ears as we both sing loudly from this same him sheet! Paul has had a very successful career and this quality has been at the forefront. He's even written a book called Little Wins: The Huge Power of Thinking Like a Toddler. Much of our conversation, at some level, referred to a child-like mindset; a child doesn't recognise failure, instead, they use this opportunity to learn what not to do. They don't believe something isn't possible until they work it out for themselves. They continuously ask the right people for support and if they fall, they get back up. This valuable part of our character lends itself so well to the divergent thinking we need to utilise in order to create change for maximum impact. A great reminder to me that a fixed mindset doesn't support the change we want to create...EVER! Our minds are where all great creations begin and unfortunately, often this is where they stay. No matter how out there an idea might at first seem, always sound these out with others. Those ideas were born with passion and therefore deserve your attention, even if they go no further. My time with Paul is jam-packed with lots of little gems that all focus on turning a dream into a reality. From our vision to practical application. Enjoy! Thirteen years later, the idea had attracted attention from the World Economic Forum and was also digging into the environmental impacts on a granular level. Finkbeiner's approach to work is gaining the right knowledge, taking action, and then inspiring others to get on board. My Key Takeaways Frithjof is definitely doing something right. Of all the organisations that I've become aware of in recent times, where the focus is protecting our natural environment and the planet, his family-run organisation has made me think more than any other as to how, me, as one individual, can make a significant difference. Frithjof highlights that people who do great things always look outside of themselves. Whether something is possible or not is rarely asked. It's about a strong belief encompassing passion, a need for change, justice at some level and value and moral driven compass. This was the gem I got from my time with Frithjof - before we embark on our journey of meaningful impact, we first need to check that we have these tools in our toolbox. That is our fuel. It's our dynamite when there's an obstacle in the way, it's our yes when everything and everyone else is saying no and our reason when we have to be unreasonable. In Frithjof's mind, his goal is simple and actually, in my mind it's simple too! It's many other things outside of that that make our cause complicated. Our work is then gaining the right knowledge, taking action and getting others on board. That is a large part of what building our ship is about - one clear goal, one clear vision, with a super great team of people around us. To not achieve, is not an option! He is currently the CEO of The Clare Foundation, a charity focused on helping other charities access interest-free loans. His love for rugby has helped him leverage the ability to consciously use the ego for setting goals and achieving them. *My Key Takeaways* Martin grew up in Ulster, Northern Ireland, during a time of massive conflict. From there he travelled to Africa for what was supposed to be weeks and turned into 15 years. Spending most of his time in areas of conflict and violence where danger continued to be a part of his everyday life. In his words, he jumped from the frying pan into the fire. When Martin was 19 he found his love for rugby, which is his first recollection of being consciously aware of the man his previous years in adversity had shaped him to become. It was then, on the rugby field that he learned the dissemination of ego, at critical times, is essential. When your head is in the game, there's no time or value in thinking about anything other than what needs to be done and the best way in which to achieve it. Whether on the pitch, in a crucial meeting or a battlefield, clarity for the immediate, using every attribute and skill you have, whilst holding a definite space for how this supports the future, this is Martin's forte. Study the Components of Success for Intentional Goal Setting Michael Toxvaerd is a serial entrepreneur, financier, and investor. Much of his expertise is in smaller companies: scaling and selling them. At 26 he started his first business in telecom and grew it 10 fold. After selling it at 29, he moved to the UK to complete an MBA course. These foundational experiences led him to a fascination with venture capital and markets, paving the way to a finance-focused startup investment portfolio, founding HGB Holdings, and leading multiple entrepreneurship advisory boards. Michael's interview can teach us so much about building something to create change and impact. He has clearly achieved greatly himself and much of his success has been deliberate. In other words, it's had little to do with luck. His observational skills on how things grow and the depth at which he has delved, in order to have the tools to deliberately create the next thing, this is impressive. I think the way in which Michael studies success has come quite naturally to him, and from what I can see, it's his character. What is rare, is that when someone does something that comes naturally to them, it's often difficult for them to articulate what it is as it's an unconscious process. The magic Michael has is that he has made it conscious, again quite deliberately, which of course means he can share his valuable strategies from a place of application, whilst being fully aware of what that means for the much bigger piece, the focus around the quality of our life - he feels this should be the backbone of every decision we make. To give you an insight into the way Michael thinks - he says that a career is a tool, it should never be a goal. Our careers should start with being built with the quality of the life that we want to create for ourselves, then others and that business is our biggest resource to create sustainable impact. I could go on. In essence, this interview itself is a valuable resource for anyone who has the passion to grow a business or not for profit. Leaving a Legacy in Environmental Causes and Chasing What Inspires You Nick Nuttall kicked off his career in journalism - talking to people. Over the past 17 years, his work with the United Nations has spanned climate change, to the environment, to communities. Nuttall feels that his achievements are attributed to his innate curiosity and desire to help others. Wealth to him is not a measure of success. In his eyes, it hinders more people than it benefits. Success is doing great things and finding purpose. *My Key Takeaways* Nick's career has been a colourful one starting with journalism, from covering headline stories to spending the last 17 years working with the United Nations covering all aspects from the environment to communities. Nick feels his achievements have been met through following what's real. To be a successful journalist you have to look deeper than the surface and have an innate curiosity to look for what isn't the obvious, rather than being conditioned into a fear of uncertainty. Being risk-averse does not create change. Lines need to be stepped over and systems have to be challenged to create meaningful impact. Our preconceived ideas are merely a stepping stone for leading us from the past to the future and these must be challenged. A big part of my conversation with Nick looked at how our capitalist world both supports and hinders us. In Nick's opinion, it creates a substantial life for some and a lesser life for most - we follow the money in order to demonstrate our wealth. Unfortunately, this has become our main tool to measure success. To take a long hard look at what value we place on wealth, being bold in our character and to recognise our purpose is to contribute and do great things. This is when we can have a truly rich life with the potential for financial wealth to follow. Nick is a bold character who definitely doesn't live to play safe. He instead lives to create change in areas that he has grown to become passionate about. I'm not sure we all live this way, certainly to the same extent of Nick but his absence of fear in this way is admiral. *Let's Stay Connected* Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors YouTube: www.craiggoldblatt.com/Magnify_Your_Impact_TV   Connect with Nick LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-nuttall-7413ba163/?jobid=1234

In short, his success has been built on hard work, honesty and communication. This is what he shares in many different ways throughout our time together. What Mike is passionate about and I know this can be a controversial topic when it comes to the charity sector, is how effective a business approach is when running a not for profit. He explains in detail why, in his opinion, this works. For me, what he says makes absolute logical sense. The tool that Mike has found to be the most successful throughout his business and charity work is definitely communication, every time. Whether its employees, partners, beneficiaries or donors, he has a strong belief that without this, success simply will not be the result. He is very passionate about this piece and can‘t seem to stress it enough. He uses a great analogy about a train and where different people, within what we're trying to achieve, sit. My time with mike reminded me that although it's never that simplistic, it is true that there are a few simple rules for us to follow when we're set on growing something and although different things come into play, those rules, our points of reference that keep us on track, they're invaluable. What are your points of reference that let you know you're where you want to be? What's unique about what you're doing? Who's on your train and what are they doing there? The organization starts working with children at a very young age to develop them into empowered citizens that chase their career passions. Lubner also worked with Nelson Mandela to found South Africa's chapter of the SMILE foundation - a charity that provides surgeries for children born with facial deformities. When approached by his father to take over as CEO for Afrika Tikkun, he found a way to operate the two missions side by side. *My key takeaways* I first met Marc just over a year ago and through our first conversation, we discovered that our grandfathers had worked very closely together. This common ground between us created an emotional connection and a strong interest in supporting each other going forward. The reason I mention this is because I wholeheartedly believe, as Marc does, that it is imperative to put building your relationships before your cause, as these will be the success of the impact you will create. This may seem like an obvious point but when we're trying to get the support of a high Net-worth donor or communicate with the source of a cause, it's so easy to get wrapped up in the vision, that we forget what a deal-breaker a personal experience and relationship is. Marc's charity focused achievements have been developed in this way. He has had some great teachers, his grandfather, his dad, and a close working and personal relationship with Nelson Mandela. He said that whether you were to spend 2 minutes or 2 hours, Mandela would connect to you, you were his only focus at that time. Something else Mandela taught him was to dream about what things would be like if the problem didn't exist and to become very familiar with this, then to work backwards. I loved this idea as it creates a solution focus on the most powerful place we need it - our hearts! There are many practical and passion-driven tools to advise through my time with Marc. He has supported change for tens of thousands of people, not to mention the families and communities that too have benefited. He talks about ego, being kind, responsibility, purpose and humility with much clarity. Crosby explains in this episode how his spark of inspiration started because of his own educational foundations. His teachers encouraged students towards self-development through leadership skills and to take action on their ideas - no matter how far-flung they sounded. *My key takeaways* Michael has had a remarkable career in international development. One that he says happened through many chance encounters of people and situations, none of which were completely planned. Although not planned, I think it's fair to say it takes a certain character, with a particular moral compass to keep finding yourself in places of extreme adversity, particularly if prior to this your life was a privileged one, as Michael states it was. Michael had a privileged education that he excelled in which then took him to Oxford University. From there Michael was ordained a priest. Then becoming a Chaplin in the prison service, this is where his chance encounters and most salient moments began. Michael's years going forward took him on a journey where witnessing so much unjust, volatile and barbaric situations created by military rule in Myanmar became a huge part of his career. Over the years he has been instrumental in influencing positively, not only 10's of thousands of beneficiaries to the extent of offering possibilities that have directly impacted their lives but also their families and even communities. His understanding of international development and small team charities, that he shares within our interview, is insightful, to say the least. Michael has a very real approach to the many difficult situations and decisions he has been faced with and is acutely aware of the danger of arrogance, a colonial approach and the idealism of many of us when we're on a journey to create impact, in less than ideal places, he definitely includes himself in this. To minimise this risk, he works in a way that he hopes counteracts that with the awareness of a wealth exchange. As I've watched Michael over the years I've known him, what really stands out to me is his wisdom, the wisdom that each impactful experience, negative or positive, for the cause and himself are based on an educated guess for his decisions as to whatever he gets involved in next. This is where it's easy to see how his life of service has been an organic one. A remarkable man who goes where he's needed rather than where he wants to go and he's definitely a huge inspiration to me! *Let's Stay Connected* Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors YouTube: www.craiggoldblatt.com/Magnify_Your_Impact_TV   *Connect with Michael* Website: https://prospectburma.org/what-we-do/governance/

Magnify Your Impact With Luisa Omielan

Life's Purpose is to Support One Another Luisa Omielan is a stand-up comedian, actress, and writer that kicked off her career at the Festival Fringe in Edinburgh. Omielan points out how it's no longer about climbing to the top, it's about how we support one another. She attributes a great portion of success to the relationship with her audience, “They're the ones that have helped me, crowdfunded me several times, supported me and come to my live shows.” Her growth-mindset has allowed her to appreciate the learning process of both wins and losses. Additionally, Omielan runs a charity in honour of her mother focused on providing hospice patients and family with special comfort items.  My Key Takeaways Luisa's drive for what she does comes ultimately from one place, connection. The connection with others and what's important to her. This is coupled with a determination and drive for achievement. Luisa is one of those people who captures you through her openness and ability to share. She talked about three main areas of her focus during our conversation of which I'm excited to share with you through our interview and briefly here. Firstly, the material that pins everything together comes from a deep honesty with herself. She's spent much time reflecting on what brings her joy and with retrospect, what has caused her grief and sadness. It's wonderful to interview someone who talks with so much openness, displaying such a sense of humility with lack of judgment. This is a valuable piece and is probably one of the quickest ways to invite others to join your train.  The second being hard work and determination. Using the knocks as a process of elimination as to ultimately what to use going forward that feeds both yourself and others.  Finally, creativity and flexibility. Use what's available to you whilst creating and seeking what isn't. I found this to be such a prevalent attribute of Luisa's. Something Luisa was keen to talk about was taking what your good at, enjoy and have a true passion for and monetising it for the benefit of not only yourself but others.  This is a heartwarming interview that takes out the fluffy and instead replaces it with courage, something we all need and rarely fails us when we allow it to show itself from within. *Let's stay connected* Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors YouTube: www.craiggoldblatt.com/Magnify_Your_Impact_TV   *Check-Out Helena Shop Hospice* www.helenashospicefoundation.org

Goal-Setting Philanthropist with a Passion for Building Better Communities. Olivia-Olly Belcher founded Shivia in 2008. This charity helps poor families in West Bengal start enterprises so they can become financially independent. Her connection to India reaches back two generations to her grandfather, who helped get Mother Theresa her first ambulance. Her father was raised in Calcutta and completed charity work there. These stories inspired her to follow in her family's legacy. Now, she is finding her life's purpose by inspiring others.  My Key Takeaways My interview with Olly was a great one with some immensely valuable practical and practised advice, driven by a huge heart for her mission. Olly has come from academia, a corporate grounding coupled with bags of compassion all three as valuable as each other. She strikes a great balance to marry these up to maximise impact - it's an art! Coming from a background heavily linked to India, her dad grew up in Calcutta whilst her grandfather raised funds for Mother Teresa's first clinic and her first-ever ambulance. Olly talks about her connections with Mother Teresa and India fondly and is in no doubt this is where her passion was born. With a vision for change, Olly, through the advice of her dad, had a strong belief that gaining skills to develop her vision was vital. Through this interview, you can gain clear knowledge of steps to grow something impactful. Along with the values of authenticity, courage and honesty, Olly says its key to have the right people in the right job. Be clear about your values and mission to all and to communicate well with transparency. She also clearly states that charity should be run like a business and research is vital! Something I heard from my dad many times throughout my life is ‘your heart is the wind in your sails and your mind is the rudder that guides you'. This interview was a definite reminder of that balance. Inspiring People Through Mentorship and Love of Surfing. Tom Hewitt MBE, founder and CEO of Surfers Not Street Children, fused his passion for helping street children with his love of surfing. This leadership coaching is using mentorship to create better lives for street children by teaching them how to surf. These inspiring projects in Mozambique and South Africa led him to take on more philanthropic humanitarian causes on the African continent. Later on, Hewitt was actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa where he acted as a peace monitor for the first free and fair elections.  My Key Takeaways Tom's story from his childhood, to adulthood, and to the present day is a remarkable one and well worth a listen! His privilege as he sees it gave him the opportunity to see such lack of privilege in others at an impressionable age. The influence from his dad, others, and the compassionate family in which he was born was a part of this.  Equality and human rights were a regular topic of conversation. This is where his passion was born and grew into something immense, developing his mantra ‘always remain true to your mandate!' Speaking with Tom was a valuable reminder to me for the tenacity needed for success: To never lose sight of our reason. The way in which we develop something of impact can of course change. There is a need for openness and flexibility but to waiver from the truth of your reason has the tendency to dilute impact greatly! This interview was so valuable for me as I can clearly relate this to where I've been successful and my reason being centre stage has been paramount at these times. In short, your reason is the spine of what you do. What a simple yet remarkable focus for us all! Serial Digital Entrepreneur and Philanthropist. Chris Morling has proven expertise in scaling websites through exceptional content and user experience. Joining forces with goal-getter education expert, Simon Andrews, the pair launched studee.com to simplify the study abroad application and enrollment process. His definition of success is creating business cultures that foster happy employees, are empowered towards greatness, and make an impact in the lives of others. My Key Takeaways Chris has achieved so much in his life and yet when I ask him what his dreams and aspirations were in his adolescence, he says honestly, that he never really had any, he just doesn't remember thinking that way. What I'm finding through the thousands of hours I spend asking people questions of introspection, is that Chris is not rare in this way. Many of the people I speak to that have impacted others and themselves greatly, they often just had a simple vision to enjoy life. Chris goes on to say that new ideas come when we give our minds time to wonder - taking time off from being busy, allowing ourselves the space to be creative has to come before you can create anything successfully.  It's clear we should spend more time in this place without the pressure of thinking about impact and change but instead building an authentic passion for life. This is a maturity that is visible to me in all genuine leaders. I don't mean a maturity of age, instead a maturity that presents itself in the way of wisdom. We give that passion a vehicle to travel in, such as a cause or a project, of which we become emotionally invested in. Chris talks about the dangers of this in the way that we can become tunnel visioned. I know I can relate to this with regards letting go of or changing something I've created that I hold dear to my heart. This is where head and heart are invaluable when they work together. Chris has an amazing psychology with that piece specifically. Chris has experienced much success in his head and heart, practically and emotionally and in my opinion is definitely qualified to support and guide others to do the same. Leadership Coach and Value-Driven Entrepreneur  Richard Holliday, founder and director of a premier tech recruitment company, discusses his spirit of helping others to create impact. From a young age, his friends and he were finding charities to donate to. They would put on neighbourhood performances and donate all of the raised funds. He states, “I liked the feedback you get from people when you help them...Always do the best you can.”   He is dedicated to helping people answer the question of how to find purpose and passion in life. Starting in recruitment, he went on to build his own company which he later sold to gain back more valuable time with his family.  My key takeaways  Richards interview is a very real one with him sharing that his riches of life and successes have been born through an immense focus of determination at the most crucial and critical times. He has a great understanding of his patterns of behaviour and what drives him through success and adversity, whilst realising that the experience of adversity is a key component to success. Richard talked about how our growth never ends. We have goals based around a particular cause with a clear vision of the impact we want to create and rightly so we become very focused on these. What's really powerful to remember is those goals, that may be focused on the next five years or so, they are not the end, they're instead a sentence, paragraph or chapter in our book of life, offering many lessons and opportunities for things that we are not yet focused on or aware of. How can we be when we have not yet met our future self and have no idea as to where our passion is going to take us in our years to come - that is beyond exciting to me! What's clear about Richard is his understanding of the value of getting to know yourself; observing our own patterns offers great insight into where we are and what we can do next, consciously, to get desired results and give something our best shot. We can be really clever to notice how a positive emotion or experience drives us but to be aware of what drives us, to take our next step, when we're feeling despair in the midst of our most difficult experiences, that's personal development at its best! Such a powerful interview with Richard. Very humbling to listen to someone share so much about their everyday human experiences. Which of course after piecing those days together, these become our life - my time with Richard isn't about fireworks, it's about life! Self-Development and Mission-Driven Motivational Speaker and Author. Graeme Codrington is a renowned motivational speaker and expert on the future of work. He describes how it's a real gift when something you love to do and are good at can be the way you support yourself and inspire others. A true visionary, Codrington describes how he approaches creativity by exhausting all options and helping people unlearn what is not working to foster positive changes in their lives. He goes on to explain how setting intentions to be the listener and change-makers opens our eyes to creating opportunities for powerful change. My Key Takeaways Relationships are everything. My interview with Graeme highlighted this in many ways. Graeme Codrington is a wonderful speaker with great knowledge of future trends that are shaping the way we live and work. Namely, demographics, economics and politics. He values and believes his education supports him immensely from the perspective of knowledge and passion for the world. Codrington's greatest tools and learnings are the ones he's made consciously within himself. Without these tools, the rest is rendered at best ineffective and at worst useless. Our interview takes a strong look at our accountability for what's going on in the world and our responsibility as to how we can make an impact that starts with ourselves, which then leads us to look at the world through a macro lens. Our biggest challenge isn't climate change or poverty, its selfishness and poor thinking. The two are entwined and inadvertently impact each other. Taking the time to learn about the world through others eyes, in turn, challenges our beliefs, which either adds credence to the ones we have or creates the opportunity for powerful change. This resonated with me massively! Another valuable piece discussed was how we can do this ourselves. Then, we move on to our immediate circle of teams and colleagues with how we build or place ourselves effectively within these circles having very clear rules that will work. These rules are what we know as our culture. It was refreshing to hear that this involved nothing that isn't available to each and every one of us. There's no money needed to make these changes, rather adjusting the lens in which we see the world, with flexibility and compassion.
