Nick was born the year AC/DC were formed (1973)) in the historically significant town of Hastings, which by then was more than a little tired. His parents John and Chrissie later moved the family up the coast to Bexhill-on- Sea, which Nick brilliantly sums up as a place where the main industry is care homes, London is the North and ambition is modest.   At University something clicked for Nick and with that came a desire for "MORE" and he was in a hurry to get it. In Nick's own inimitable words in the 90's he became a "fully loaded sales dick" and a successful one at that.   The first half of the 00's on the other hand was an incredibly challenging time for Nick and was in many ways life changing, as was the arrival in his life of Vicki who he married in 2011.   When we recorded this episode Nick and Vicki were preparing to move themselves and their three children Ben, Noah & Matilda to a new home and a new life in the French Alps. This is a plan and a move that has been in train for several years, and they are now in their new home.   I wish them every possible success in this brave and inspirational endeavour, and I look forward to having Vicki on the show in a years' time to tell us how it's going and share her story.   Nick's musical journey has had as many turns as his personal journey and he came up with a great set of song selections: 70's     Kenny Rogers                                                                                             The Gambler 80's     Guns N'Roses                                                                                You Could Be Mine 90's     Sisters of Mercy                                                                                                         More00's     Foo Fighters                                                                                               The Pretender10's     Pete Tong/Jules Buckley/Maxi Jazz                                                          Insomnia 20's     Jackie Wilson                    (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher  These selections and a song from every artist mentioned is included in this Spotify Playlist. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4LGLLlIg3V802CAOBLl1oY?si=c5bc8bff90fd48e4

Nick Nanton is a multi-Emmy-award-winning documentary filmmaker and the Founder and CEO of DNA Films, through which he's produced countless works, including, “Dream Big: Rudy Ruettiger Live on Broadway,” a sell-out one-man show he wrote and directed. In Nick's words, he came from a childhood where he had “more love than he could spend, but money was scarce”. He soon learned that if he wanted something in life, he would have to be the one to make it happen. Learning a lifestyle of entrepreneurship from a young age, he's gone on to enact an intentional life of spirituality and manifestation – at one point, he Googled “How to win an Emmy.” He's since won over twenty of them.  Among his many tenets are that we must learn how to lose, and lose to learn. He also believes that we never stop learning – and that that fact is one of life's joys, infinitely exciting and personally fulfilling.  Nick is also the CEO of the Dicks + Nanton Agency, founded to help celebrities, entrepreneurs, and experts in their field put their best selves forward to the world. In this edition of Gravity, we discuss how anybody at all can set about achieving their goals simply by addressing their branding. As Nick says, “Branding is storytelling” and sharing our stories is the central philosophy of the Gravity podcast. What Brett asks: [01:30] Tell me about your childhood. [06:20] What was it like being a child in a family where money was an issue? [12:40] Do you think you're a natural hustler? [19:00] Let's talk tennis. [28:00] Tell me about going from law school into adulthood. [36:50] Why did you finish your law degree if you wanted to quit? [42:00] Connect how you went from graduation to present day. [52:10] How do you think you went and other people can go about gaining undeniable wisdom? [56:00] Do you have any advice for people doubting that they can achieve their dreams? [58:00] How do you continue to grow, learn, and provide value to the world? In this podcast, Creating the person you're meant to be with Nick Connor, Nick shares his story about being a pro baseball player that reached his peak and had to make a change. What would that transition look like? In Nick's case, he ended up taking a job in door to door sales selling security systems in residential neighborhoods.Nick talks about the complexities in life and business. In baseball, one can be a really good player but as they progress in the game, they face other players who are also advancing in the game. In his case, the complexity of hitting a 95 MPH babseball with movement was too complex. In business, we are encouraged to grow. What we may not calculate is what is underneath, below the surface. In sales, we need to deal with rejection. Rejection is not something that any of us desire. Just like in baseball after a bad game, players are encouraged and coached to put that game behind them and to keep moving forward. The same can be true with sales. There are bad days and you have to keep sticking with it.We also venture into the conversation regarding the pandemic and making use of the time to make changes for the better. We also discussed Jim Rohn's Goal setting workbook, that can be found here https://store.jimrohn.com/jim-rohn-one-year-success-planner/Find Nick at Nickconnor.com

This week on Yes But Why, we talk to Nick Byrne, one of Australia’s most prominent improvisational trainers and producers. Nick Byrne is Artistic Director of the Impro ACT theatre in Canberra, Australia. Starting in 2005, Impro ACT has been providing improv classes at all levels, performances of comedic, dramatic, musical, physical, and experimental unscripted theatre, as well as the Canberra International Festival of Improvisation (aka “Improvention”). Nick is also the Artistic Director of “Improvention,” Australia’s international festival of Improvisation. Since 2009, “Improvention” has hosted hundreds of improvisers from every continent to participate in half-day workshops and perform every night in shows, over the course of eight days. In Nick’s career in entertainment, he has played the role of trainer, director, producer, actor, musician, and comic. He has worked in political satire, musical theatre, corporate comedy, theatre in education, theatre restaurant, street theatre, film, advertising, and radio comedy. Focusing for the last fifteen years on improvisation, Nick has taught hundreds of hours of workshops on spontaneous thinking, problem-solving, improvised theatre, team-building, and adaptability to change. In the most recent before times, Nick had been found touring the globe. He has worked in 35 international cities as a director/performer/teacher of improv at festivals and with theatre companies; including Vienna’s ‘Moment’ Festival, St Petersburg’s Russian International Improvisation Festival, Singapore Improv Festival, and Mt Olymprov Festival in Athens. In our conversation, Nick and I chatted about the global improv community and how our current connectedness is helping to shape innovation in improv across the world. We talk about the improv festival circuit. Nick gives us a glimpse of the world of a traveling improviser! We talk about mixer shows, marketing, and audience connection. Nick tells me about how his improv festival came to be. Nick’s focus on education and providing a good experience for his attendees is the cornerstone of “Improvention.” It was really fascinating to hear his perspective on this because building an improv festival seems like such a herculean task. And it was great to connect to another corner of the improv universe. Support Nick Byrne! Nick Shaw is the Founder and CEO of Renaissance Periodization, former competitive powerlifter and bodybuilder, and coach to world-class athletes such as CrossFit Games Champions, Olympians, UFC fighters, and Navy SEALs. Nick, along with his wife Lori, co-host the RP Strength Podcast.   To many an athlete, or even just the avid gym-goer, the lockdowns presented a ton of challenges to staying in shape. However, both Chase and Nick view these “limitations” from a different perspective. They discuss how having no choice but to be creative with their workouts has forced their bodies to deload.   “We always think that more is better,” says Nick, referring to his fellow athletes. “It’s short-term thinking.”   A deload allows the body to “catch up” after a build-up of fatigue throughout an intense period of training. Coupled with periodization—well-rounded, systematized training to maximize productivity—more experienced athletes with specific fitness goals will be able to avoid burnout, let their body rest and recover, and maintain their motivation to hit the gym.   "Eat enough, sleep enough. Do those two things and your recovery is probably going to be pretty good."   Listen in as Chase and Nick go on to discuss best practices for growing as an athlete, with particular emphasis on the often-underestimated factors of nutrition, rest, and, most especially, doing the small monotonous things every day. In Nick’s own words: “Little, gradual improvements over time is the success secret of consistently successful people.”   Follow Nick @nick.shaw.rp Follow Chase @chase_chewning     Key Highlights Nick talks about how he adapted his workouts to the limitations (i.e. lack of access to a gym) imposed by the pandemic. Most people aren’t aware of the physiological benefits of a deload - Nick explains why more isn’t necessarily better Nick defines periodization and explains its importance in a proper training protocol. A training program should obviously be tailored to your particular goals and level of fitness and be ever-evolving as you progress. Nick shares the elements of an effective routine and how to break through plateaus. Recovery is underrated. 1. This morning, the major stock indexes are trading up a little after being pounded on Friday. The talk of the town is still about these reddit boards or really Wallstreet bets. Now this group is pushing silver as the next great short squeeze. I really dont think this is a great short squeeze play, but I do think silver has all the reasons in the world to go higher eventually anyway. 2. Shortsqueeze Stocks Gamestop AMC and Silver. In Nick’s opinion its Thursday parabolic move to 500 and today as of this show it’s trading at $235. Robinhood is just trying to stay alive. Their liquidity was threatened last week. They didn’t think this could happen. They needed to recapitalize $1 billion last week. There are bigger players working their game behind the scenes. Many hedgefunds are taking a hit now. Nick wasn’t able to borrow shares to short it.3. Gold/Silver SLV will not become a closed end fund. They want it to trade like a stock. The metal is pouring out of the Comex vaults as it becomes a delivery market. We’ve known for years that manipulation has been going on. If we take out certain levels, this thing could really take off. Reddit gets credit but silver has been showing higher relative strength compared to gold. If it takes out $30 then $35 could be next. After that it’s $40 and $45 and old highs will be tested. 4. Bitcoin vs. Precious Metals - The grid may go down but silver and gold will always be around and they’ll be money.

Nick Bognar discusses the issues and mechanisms that drive men to addiction, the beliefs and social mores that keep them from getting help, and the obstacles that those around them face in caring for them.Nick Bognar is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pasadena, CA. Nick’s therapeutic work as a client led him to pursue a career in helping others shed the emotional shackles and burdens that keep them down, so that each may live their own happiest life and have the greatest impact on their community. Nick’s professional interests include building better men and helping people set boundaries with loved ones.Nick's 3 top tips:1. Many of men’s positive coping mechanisms are conditioned out of them in childhood and adolescence2. People’s lives are enhanced by believing in them and holding them to high standards3. When men understand how privilege works, they are better members of their community, but there’s a reason why it’s hard to teach men about privilege (and that reason is surmountable)In Nick's words:One of my passions is helping people connect to good therapists. Although I’m happy to take on clients when I have openings, I’m always available to speak to people to help them find someone to talk to (or sometimes, resources in their area). So if someone is contemplating getting help, they can call me and I’ll do my best to make sure they get pushed in a direction that will be helpful and nourishing for them. This is good because sometimes people have to make a dozen calls before they can even speak with someone, let alone find someone who has what they need. Whether or not I can treat someone, I’ll make time for them in order to help send them in the right direction. www.NickBognarTherapy.com Don't miss another episode. Leaving a Legacy in Environmental Causes and Chasing What Inspires You Nick Nuttall kicked off his career in journalism - talking to people. Over the past 17 years, his work with the United Nations has spanned climate change, to the environment, to communities. Nuttall feels that his achievements are attributed to his innate curiosity and desire to help others. Wealth to him is not a measure of success. In his eyes, it hinders more people than it benefits. Success is doing great things and finding purpose. *My Key Takeaways* Nick's career has been a colourful one starting with journalism, from covering headline stories to spending the last 17 years working with the United Nations covering all aspects from the environment to communities. Nick feels his achievements have been met through following what's real. To be a successful journalist you have to look deeper than the surface and have an innate curiosity to look for what isn't the obvious, rather than being conditioned into a fear of uncertainty. Being risk-averse does not create change. Lines need to be stepped over and systems have to be challenged to create meaningful impact. Our preconceived ideas are merely a stepping stone for leading us from the past to the future and these must be challenged. A big part of my conversation with Nick looked at how our capitalist world both supports and hinders us. In Nick's opinion, it creates a substantial life for some and a lesser life for most - we follow the money in order to demonstrate our wealth. Unfortunately, this has become our main tool to measure success. To take a long hard look at what value we place on wealth, being bold in our character and to recognise our purpose is to contribute and do great things. This is when we can have a truly rich life with the potential for financial wealth to follow. Nick is a bold character who definitely doesn't live to play safe. He instead lives to create change in areas that he has grown to become passionate about. I'm not sure we all live this way, certainly to the same extent of Nick but his absence of fear in this way is admiral. *Let's Stay Connected* Speak with Craig about Magnifying Your Impact https://www.craiggoldblatt.com/work-with-me/ https://go.craiggoldblatt.com/attract-ideal-donors YouTube: www.craiggoldblatt.com/Magnify_Your_Impact_TV   Connect with Nick LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicholas-nuttall-7413ba163/?jobid=1234

1. Lots of negative chatter this week during options expiration. Yesterday, we heard that Senator Lindsey Graham introduced a bill to put sanctions on China. Then later, California said they will keep LA and SFO closed for 3 more months. Then we had Bill Gates' puppet Anthony Fauci testify in front of a Senate panel. He mentioned and gave a plug to Moderna (MRNA) a few times during that testimony. He was also down beat and very defensive. Then Senator Rand Paul told him, you're not the end all. Now today, we have the famous Hedge Fund manager, Stan Druckenmiller, get totally negative and saying, the risk-reward for equities is maybe as bad as I've seen it in my career. There was just a ton of negative news this week. Even the Boeing CEO said yesterday that he sees a major U.S. airline going under. WOW! this is coming from a guy that has seen it's stock down by more than 50%. If anyone should fail maybe it's Boeing. But they will be bailed out and he knows it.2. Gold is heading sideways in a somewhat trendless market that appears to be ready to go higher. It needs to digest and consolidate and this could very well happen in the summer. The higher an equity gets, the greater the advances, ie Apple/Amazon. Gold is in the same camp now. When the moves happen they’re fast and furious. 3. Weekly initial claims report coming out tomorrow, but expect a dire number. Next week will be more important. In Nick's opinion, this is typical of what we get during an options expiration week.  There is a major head & shoulders top pattern that is testing the neckline on an hourly chart today. This pattern is also on the daily chart, so it will need to be monitored closely. If this pattern triggers it says the $SPY will trade down to the $270.00 level.

“Running makes you value your time.”Nick ButterCompleting a marathon is a noble accomplishment. How about completing a marathon on every continent? A feat of a lifetime. Now imagine completing a marathon in every single country in the world. Impossible?Meet Nick Butter — an enterprising young Brit who recently reframed human potential, becoming the first person in history to crush 196 marathons in all 196 countries.A world-record setting feat noteworthy for daunting financial and logistical challenges that often dwarfed those athletic, it took Nick and his team two years to plan and 674 days to complete — an astounding accomplishment that entailed running 3 marathons, in 3 new countries a week, every week, for 96 weeks, blowing through 10 passports and 455 flights along the way.More Jason Bourne than Forrest Gump, Nick ran through 15 war zones and endured several Argo-esque border crossings. He was mugged twice and repeatedly attacked by dogs, even going so far as to run 335 laps around a car park on the Marshall Islands to avoid that country’s overrun population of rabid canines. He had his luggage stolen. He ran in extreme cold and unbearable heat, oftentimes starting marathons at two or three in the morning to avoid 140-degree weather. He repeatedly succumbed to food poisoning and kidney infections. This list goes on.But ultimately, Nick prevailed -- and learned a few things about life along the way. What drives a man to attempt such a feat? In Nick’s case, it wasn’t fame. It wasn't notoriety. It was something far greater. In 2016, while enduring Marathon des Sables deep in the Moroccan desert, Nick struck up a friendship with fellow ultrarunner Kevin Webber — a man given just two years to live, courtesy of incurable advanced prostate cancer.Kevin’s courageous life embrace inspired Nick to rethink his career path in finance. Empowered him to tackle an impossible goal. And motivated him to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer solutions along the way. This is a conversation about the physical, mental, and emotional strength it took to conquer a challenge of breathtaking magnitude. It’s about the obstacles faced and overcome. The lessons learned. And the importance of giving back. It’s about audacious dreams. Unbridled adventure. And the courage required to jump into the unknown without a safety net.But more than anything, this is a conversation about this fleeting, shared experience we call life — and what we can all learn from Nick's example about ourselves and our place in the world. The visually inclined can watch it all go down on YouTube. Rowan Sanderson sits down with Dr. Nick Thompson to discuss best practices in transitioning your dog onto raw. This is a subject that Nick has been focusing on for over 25 years and counting, and has observed more than 10,000 dogs that have gone through this journey. While 90% of dogs have no problem making an instant switch to a pure raw diet, Nick still recommends the Four-Day Rule, which gradually introduces your dog to raw food. This not only helps the dog and its microbiome adapt to the new diet, but it also helps the owner get used to this new feeding style. In Nick’s personal experience, everybody who makes this dramatic switch to a pure raw food diet is terrified at the beginning. When in doubt, he suggests that you contact your raw food supplier and allow them to guide you through any challenges you may be having.

Nick Woolery was in a competitive process that began with 198 applicants. Eventually we got down to the top 5 which we brought in for formal interviews. Nick won the competition; and Rick will be taking his name before Council on Thursday for him to be approved as Assistant City Manager like me." Troller added; "We all wish Ron and his family well in retirement. In Nick we have a younger professional, dedicated, strategic mind, that will be serving Baytown and helping to take us to higher levels for many years to come. Tonight's special guest is Nick Kelso from Tucson, Arizona. Although not a survivor himself, Nick has more than a dozen years of experience empowering underserved populations through grassroots movements with nonprofits, arts-focused startups, and community organizations. His documentary film, 'Is Your Story Making You Sick?', focuses on the healing power of a story, and how people can rewrite the toxic stories they tell themselves. The film reveals how individuals battling addiction, trauma, and depression can change their stories and transcend their pain through ‘Narrative Therapy’ interactive and cutting-edge practices that help individuals rewrite their story. The film provides a step-by-step depiction of how to conduct these healing exercises. Nick strives to connect with leading organizations and individuals in the mental health fields working to destigmatize the long shadows of addiction and trauma. In Nick’s own words, “I'm not a survivor. But I support and represent my friends and family who are. I came to this film from years of working in the grassroots nonprofit fields of youth work, education, community radio, and community art house theater. It's an honor to work towards helping others who are underserved or underheard, and as an activist at heart I find causes that I believe in and dive in! It's an honor for me to represent a film that's being seen as a resource for survivors - and we hope the project can be a valuable tool for growth and healing.”

BLOOM RECORDS PODCAST 167 - TRIPSWITCH Nick Brennan’s 17-year career as Tripswitch has seen numerous successes and highlights, from New York Times reviews to BBC Radio 1 airplay, live performances all over the world, writing music for a major video game, ad campaigns, music for BBC’s Blue Planet - but 2018 has seen him take things to an even higher level. The veteran Chillout-Electronica “producer’s producer” has consolidated his rising position in the Progressive House world through a massively busy year of original productions, remixes, DJ performances, and collaborations with some of the biggest names in the business, including his old friend Nick Warren and most recently El Maestro, Hernan Cattaneo. Nick has been super busy on a whole host of new projects, notably collaborating on several productions with godfather of Prog, Nick Warren, for labels including Sudbeat and The Soundgarden. He has also found the time to formulate a whole new imprint, onedotsixtwo, which launched on 1st May 2017 with the release of the 23-track DJ-mixed compilation ‘In At The Deep End’. Through consistent quality-controlled output, and with the remarkable smash ‘Voight Kampff’ (ODST003) from the 2 Nicks, onedotsixtwo has rapidly become a key label to watch for those turned on to top quality, melodic Progressive House, even gaining a full-page “Vital Label” feature in the Feb 2019 edition of DJ Mag US. Nick’s reputation as a producer who creates dancefloor magic, along with consistent Beatport chartings and support from the pantheon of A-list DJs, have led him to become one of the hottest remixers of 2018. His unofficial rework of London Grammar’s ‘Rooting For You’ (available for exclusive free download here: https://soundcloud.com/tripswitch) was one of the go-to summer tracks of 2018 having been played all over the world since Miami WMC. Nick recently released his first collaboration with Hernan Cattaneo, a remix of Forerunners ‘Magnetic Quartz’ (ODST0007). He is now settling down to work on a collaborative project with John Digweed’s studio partner, Nick Muir, DETAILS SOON. Nick has been locked in the studio since last summer to construct The 4th Tripswitch studio album, entitled “Memento Mori” and due for release in May 2019, In Nick’s words, “this is probably my most significant album to date, certainly it’s the most personal – it’s been a crazy few years and I’ve had some very powerful and emotional experiences to draw on. I needed to write this as a catharsis – the result is an album that drips with emotion in the same way Circuit Breaker did. I think it’s an album which my old and new fans will be able to connect with in the same way as they did with my first.” ‘Harmonics’, Nick’s monthly 2-hour radio show on leading dance music station Frisky Radio, is now in its 3rd year and remains one of the most listened to on the station, routinely hitting the weekly Top 10 shows station-wide. A versatile performer, Nick is regularly booked for live and DJ sets at both Chillout and Progressive House stages and events, often playing multiple times at the same festival. Regardless of the setting or musical direction, his reputation for delivering sets that takes the crowd on an emotional journey is as strong now as it ever was. I continued to be disappointed in the quality and style of the hats even after visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. A life-long hat wearer, I knew I wanted to fill this hole in the market and got to work. Legal & regulatory framework of blockchain & smart contracts Over the last few weeks I’ve often been asked questions regarding legal or regulatory issues regarding smart contracts and blockchain. To help me answer these questions I am priviledged to have had the participation of Nick Pester from Capital Law and Lee Bacon from Clyde&Co for this 5th episode on Insureblocks.   2 minute definition of blockchain Lee – blockchain is a form of distributed ledger, built on encryption, which allows each person or entity to have access to the same information at the same time and allows the transfer of information and possible assets between the participants. Nick tackled this challenge by using an example to illustrate what is blockchain. For example, if you were to share an excel spreadsheet between ten different participants you often will end up with multiple copies of the same spreadsheet which may lead to errors in terms of reconciliation. With blockchain that spreadsheet is automatically updated, reconciled, append only, with each append validated by the participants of the system. This leads to all the parties agreeing to a single source of truth.   Smart contracts – legal standpoint For Nick, smart contracts on a blockchain introduce efficiencies and are less time consuming for all parties in the contractual process. For example, in property purchases, smart contracts introduce a set of agreed parameters between the parties for payment or transfer of value to be made when certain triggers are activated. Lee sees smart contracts as nothing more than automating, by the way of code, either in part or in full the traditional written contract. With the immutability and irreversibility of the blockchain how do we address the issue of a wrong trigger that the parties want to reverse? Live with the fact that you can’t A few clients introduce in smart contracts a pause mechanism that allows the two parties to reflect before something is automated. That seems to defeat some of the purposes of smart contracts and automation Understand that smart contracts are an automation mechanism and if something goes wrong due to bad code for example that you have an agreed mechanism to who is responsible for that and how to make the necessary changes In last week’s episode, Smart Contracts 101, Olivier Rikken spoke also spoke about smart contracts having an auto destruct button when something goes wrong or ultimately having the option of going offline and take this matter to the courts. Nick mentioned a fascinating quote that up to £80 billions of premiums are locked up in contract settlement disputes due to reconciliation issues. Smart contracts on the blockchain can help reduce those disputes through auto pay out of commissions to multiple parties.   Regulatory issues for smart contracts & blockchain FCA (Financial Conduct Authority), the UK’s regulator has adopted a technology neutral position and hasn’t adopted any special kind of rules applying to DLT (distributed ledger technology) technology whether for a public or private ledger. They are focused on the consequences on the usage of this technology to consumers and participants in the market. According to Nick, if you look at the FCA’s papers on DLT they are very clear in their view that the technology itself offers some real benefits to the consumers in terms of transparency and visibility. In Nick’s opinion the FCA has a very proactive standpoint with its sandbox and direct access schemes.   GDPR and its implications to blockchain’s immutability As GDPR gives consumers the right to have their personal data removed, how does that work if one's personal data sits on an immutable blockchain? There are two approaches to this: Removal of access rights through the removal of the private key is tantamount to erasure. There is a view that regulators will be fairly practical about this as it is impossible to remove data from the blockchain and...

Nick reassures, “The people that need your help, that need your product, program or service, it’s a very, very high probability that they are on Facebook.”   Nick recommends targeting ads to your current subscribers first and foremost, because he has found that, “Cold traffic is the hardest sandbox to play in.”   Images have historically dominated social media, but Facebook has publically stated their intention to move towards video content and even prioritize Facebook live. Nick recommends, “Whenever possible you should use video.”   Crafting advertising content that strikes a balance between connecting with people and promoting your product can be difficult.
