We recorded this interview with Steven a few years ago but the subject of finding your calling is timeless. Check out more at www.raleighwilliams.co
Steve helped give me the confidence in myself to leave law and start an escape room business. He taught me simple saying that will stay with me for the rest of my life like: "Do something where if you are right you get rich, if you are wrong you don't go broke." And "Live your twenties like few will so you can live your forties and beyond like few can." I've always thought that learning from Steve was one of the few unfair advantages I've had in my life, which is why I was elated to hear that his son had convinced him to put his life's wisdom in a book that he's releasing soon called Rich Routines. In this episode we talk the principles and routines that form the foundation for a rich life.
They say to save the best for last and I think I did. I'm ending the Raleigh Williams Experience podcast to make space for something new to come about. In writing on creation I realized that all of my creations were never really given my full time and attention. Creation requires death and it will only fill the space that you allow it to fill in your life. So much of creation is determined by what you say no to in order to find the “yes” that will change your life. Check out my newsletter at raleighwilliams.co to stay in touch!
Summary In this episode I discuss the concept of personal fulfillment and the journey towards finding one's true desires and passions. I go over the the idea of the camel, lion, and child as stages of personal growth and transformation. The camel represents the burden of societal expectations, the lion symbolizes rebellion against those expectations, and the child embodies the freedom to create and pursue one's own desires. The conversation emphasizes the importance of slaying the 'Thou Shalt Dragon' - the external pressures and expectations that hinder personal growth. Ultimately, the goal is to tap into the child-like enthusiasm and joy in order to live a fulfilling life. 00:00 Introduction: Exploring Personal Fulfillment 01:26 The Story of the Camel, Lion, and Child 06:36 Embracing the Child-Like Enthusiasm 09:22 Finding Freedom from External Expectations 10:07 Conclusion: The Journey to Personal Fulfillment
Episode: 54 In this episode I explore the concept of finding one's vocation and the impediments to discovering it. We talk about the difference between the default path of conformity and the territory game of pursuing one's true calling. I share personal experiences and examples, highlighting the need for reorientation and course correction.
I Spoke with Justin Juntunen, the CEO of Cedar and Stone Sauna. I originally recorded this as book research, but it was such a great conversation, I decided to release it as a podcast. Enjoy!
In this episode, featuring Mubarak, we're gonna talk about a book that I've been writing and my book writing process. We're also going to discuss the cycle of the hero's journey and finding your own path and how to find purpose in the work that you do and how to find work that you find more enjoyable, particularly if you're stuck in something that you're doing that you want to do something else for. I hope you enjoy it.
