You can google Niren Bhatt and see his writing across genres, many of which you would have heard or seen. But, more than the box office figures what is interesting to know is how does Niren Bhatt think? Because writing is a thinking process- and the way you think is the way you will structure, the way you will choose the right elements for your story, the right scene perspective, and the way to move the audience; in his case SWAY THE AUDIENCE. She demonstrates how Varda was years ahead of her time in addressing sexism, abortion, labor exploitation, immigrant rights, and race relations with candor and incisiveness. She makes clear Varda's impact on contemporary figures like Ava DuVernay, Greta Gerwig, Barry Jenkins, the Safdie brothers, and Martin Scorsese, who called her one of the Gods of cinema. And she delves into Varda's incredibly rich social life with figures such as Harrison Ford, Jean-Luc Godard, Jim Morrison, Susan Sontag, and Andy Warhol, and her nearly forty-year marriage to the celebrated director Jacques Demy.Suchita talks to Carrie about this most important book on Agnes Varda who defined the French New Wave, inspired an entire generation of filmmakers, and was recognized with major awards at the Cannes, Berlin, and Venice Film Festivals, as well as an honorary Oscar at the Academy Awards.Digs:1) Varda and her relationships with other Artists. She got to the essence very fast. Her ability to connect with people as a photographer and storyteller was immemse.2) Transforming from still image to moving pictures to 3 dimensional spaces- almost like a 3 Act of life!!3) The approach as a filmmaker that was so distinct from her director husband Demy. Her approach was to discover deeper aspects of things.4) Varda started making movies without knowing anything about movies- without having even have watched many films- and so she found her own language, her own grammar.5) Opening up to arts, creativity and filmmaking to create a new syntax.6) Truffaut's non acceptance of Varda as a director and his reviews in Cahiers du cinema.7) A very imporant difference between the French and the American studios financing movies-8) How photography taught her to capture the decisive moment!9) 1958 when her film got into the Cannes festival was she accepted into the community of french filmmakers and new wave filmmakers?10) The long marriage to another brilliant filmmaker Demy 11) Varda's relationship with Jim Morrison and his death- and how his funeral was for less than 8 minutes!12) Varda with Warhol, Susan Sontag, Truffaut. 13) Scorses's immense admiration for Varda.Enjoy this longish episode, and check out the book that is out now !!Join our Artists insta handle the.artistspodcast  Email id: metaphysicallab@gmail.com/  You can follow us and leave us feedback on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @eplogmedia, For partnerships/queries send you can send us an email at bonjour@eplog.media DISCLAIMER: The views expressed on all the shows produced and distributed by Ep.Log Media are personal to the host and the guest of the shows respectively and with no intention to harm the sentiments of any individual/organization.The said content is not obscene or blasphemous or defamatory of any event and/or person deceased or alive or in contempt of court or breach of contract or breach of privilege, or in violation of any provisions of the statute, nor hurt the sentiments of any religious groups/ person/government/non-government authorities and/or breach or be against any declared public policy of any nation or state.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Do you know that your brain works in different frequencies through out the day- from the time you get up to the time you fall asleep, and while you are sleeping!; these frequencies are defined as beta, alpha, theta, gamma, delta. It is being researched and proven that the slower your brain wave frequency, the better your mental and physical health. It is also being researched that slower brain wave frequency, gives you access to your subconscious mind- and it is being proven that our life, our decisions, our behaviour - in-fact, who we are, 95 percent of it, is controlled by our subconscious mind and 5 percent by our conscious mind. So, whats the big deal here? The big deal is that, we do-not know, that 95 percent of the time, we take decisions that are controlled by our subconscious programming. And, if we access our subconscious mind and re- programme it according to the WE that we want to become, or the life that we want to create, we will be able to manifest and fulfil the life, we exactly want to live. So, again how do we do this? By being able to control our brain waves and access our subconscious mind more frequently and reprogram it. Mediations are a way to do it. And, since i have been digging into this bit for quite sometime- i mystically came across this book- change your brain waves by Scholars and researchers Yukio and Susanne who explain this phenomenon through the practise of chantings. One of the most important thing in any film, and more so in a regional or an independent films is the camaraderie between the director and the DOP, where the two have to work together to not just design the film effectively, but also to deliver the film within a time span- to shoot the film in those number of days. The most effective camaraderie is a good friendship. Our guests are Darshan Trivedi, the director, and Tapan Vyas the DOP, on to their 5th film together, that is releasing on Jan 19th.Also, a great point that we should always get reminded of- it is a great joy to work with people who understand the purpose of cinema. It is greater joy and good fortune if your film gets to the theatres. Some key take aways is: Filmmaking especially for a director takes so much energy that it affects all area of their life, personal professional and- so be mindful when choosing to take this as a profession. Be very mindful in collaborating with people, and choose only the ones who have a true passion for cinema and are not there just for money or fame or other extracurricular activities that they think is glamour. How would you feel like living in a town where there is Shakespeare parked in every corner, staring at you!!! And how would it feel to be surrounded by actors who only play Shakespeare and his characters all the time!!Dr Darren Freebury-Jones is a Lecturer in Shakespeare Studies at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon. He is the author of multiple books, all having a relation with Shakespeare. In this fun chat, we talk about not just the 400-year-plus legacy of Shakespeare, but also the strong influence of his work that keeps inspiring, filmmakers across the globe. And why? What makes Shakespeare this genius- his deep understanding of the human mind and the human condition, or his belief in something beyond what we see?To be or not to be? Is that the question for you? Or as Darren puts it Let it be.I do not know if there is any writer, for me who comes closer to Shakespeare- not just his multidimensional character but also how he thought about his acts and plot points and structuring - literally being the innovator of what we are following as a template. It is complex, yet it is simple- to be or not to be, or just let it be.
